Luxor is pompous but not entirely unsympathetic. He clearly fought very hard to bring glory to his District and he and Gloss seem genuinely quite close. And he has a point, 1 have a really good winning streak with 4 in a decade's time span, they have a lot to consider before launching a full on rebellion. I kind of hope he survives in the background to see what happens after the war but I'm sure you have an appropriate fate drawn up for him. He is a little on the pompous side though, lol. He actually reminds me a little of the young Snow circa BoSaS if he were just a little less self-centred.

Very interesting character! I like how Luxor thinks positively of the regime's 'stability' and is opposed to the rebellion even though the regime forced him to go through hell and a rebel victory would mean no more children from One dying in the Games. Unfortunately, that's a very common mentality in dictatorships.

Great chapter. I was right in anticipating something good.

So in your universe, it's strictly platonic. Understandable. I mean, they contrast to a point of a relationship (opposites attract) being plausible, but Effie being too uptight against Haymitch's let loose behavior also makes sense.

I see now your adoration for Chaff. I adore the fact that another victor took up the torch for D12, which was virtually mentorless for the better part of decades with escorts not exactly caring about the tributes. I'm glad that the escort for HG 50 made the effort and got sponsors or support for Maysilee and Haymitch.

I can see now why in Canon, the two are insepparable. Even going as far as to stowaway on the train so that he could guide him through the post-Games.

I'm surprised the idiot Snow didn't bomb his house in the Village.

This was great. I especially liked the fact that Haymitch himself isn't present in the chapter but is being spoken of. I think it goes hand in hand with his essential role in the rebellion and his overall story being the stuff of legend..even if he hates himself for it

Haymitch and Blight quite close in this universe? Interesting for sure and I look forward to more of it if it's there. I like Haymitch and Effie's dynamic here too and I agree, they are rather too far apart on the personality spectrum to click [now Haymitch and Enobaria...perhaps some sparks could fly from that]. Chaff is very caring. I'm sad that even being around Blight and Johanna wasn't enough to significantly lift Haymitch's spirits much but I suppose that's the price one has to live with being from a District like 6, 8 or 12-hey, at least he didn't have to wait quite as long as Woof to bring a victor home. Not your most glamourous chapter ever but I think that fits for the personality and it was well rounded out.

We're now roughly 2 generations removed from the end of the Dark Days, so the very first victors are now close enough in age to be the grandparents of the current batch, or not far off it. Finally, at long last we reach the next D1 male victor next chapter! I know he isn't mentoring but I'd kind of like to see a bit more of Amadeus.

I forgot about Mags' children by the way. I think you said she had 5 or 6? I presume none of them trained with the Career prospectees at all?

I really like your take on Haymitch! It's interesting to see him from the perspectives of the other Victors.

Right Effie... after that kiss (which was basically a nod to the Hayffie crowd, I doubt your relationship is anything but platonic. Probably lots of hate sex..ehehehe.

Again Annie's personality is so stark...so centered, far from what we saw during the War and before. Good job for "developing" her.

As for reconstruction, I made it in my alternative world (you might remember) that I moved 12 to a derelict city. I just liked the fact that you talked about the world progressing past the War. But I'd like to think my idea makes sense. I mean, in BSS Snow talks about derelict cities "mini capitols", so why not expand a lil.

Onwards to Haymitch. This is going to be a mega chapter I know it.

Interesting to see how rebuilding is going. I like seeing Katniss and Peeta from the point of view of other characters.

By the way, Effie and Haymitch being platonic best buds is a really great take on their relationship.

I think your interpretation of Brutus was a good one. Brutus I. Body, but... Nobleus in spirit...get it? Brutus means technically he's a bru- you get it ;).

And the post Games were a good way to showcase his noble personality I mean, canon movies showed that - and the book - that he was pretty friendly with chaff and Peeta.

When the Quell came he did it out of obligation. So I guess that his... M.O was purely to display his prowess, not in a stereotypical Career way. He doesn't antagonize, he just knows he's good enough.

I wonder about the rest of Two's victors. Enobaria... The 73rd hunger games, Ember...

Haymitch should be a treat too

That's the perfect arena for Brutus, one I can really really imagine being in canon. His goings-on here were very in character too. Suprisingly I don't remember him being all that extremely tall in the film-I think Gloss was taller, and his actor is only 6'2-but he must be like 6'5 or 6'6 ish here? Eh it doesn't matter that much, this is closer to the book description physically. You mixed the warm and tough portrayals excellently here, he seems like the bodacious powerful but thoughtful guy everyone would love to be around. Looking forward to seeing him as a mentor and I'm kind of spooked about the 69th Games now, they really look to be one of the worst for leaving 'trauma' behind...The Career boy victor chapters recently seem to be your strong spot with Petran Rowan and Brutus, which bodes well for when we...finally...finally...finalllly get another male D1 victor the year after next. Keep them coming and may the odds be ever in your favour...

I really like your take on Brutus! He really comes across as a sympathetic figure here, a person trying to do what he can with the situation he cannot change.

I am in love with this series keep up the great work.

Another strong chapter! Maizey isn't the most glamorous character compared to, say, Gloss, Cashmere, Finnick or Johanna but still intriguing in a way. The sort of earthy yet emotional bonds you have between the D9 victors is quite sweet. Her and Barric's story is sad, very sad-I'm sad now. She must be one of the first 8 dead in the bloodbath then?

That's a nice way of incorporating canon into your universe. I swear she gets her throat torn open by enobaria or killed by Brutus (twitter said so, so it must be true).

That was a nice chapter...considering that the ending for either of these two were anything but as wholesome as their final moments together.

Lovely chapter!

Hmm, this seems like setup for something. Great chapter, I like how you demonstrate the myriad ways that people respond to trauma.
