for The Kids Who Cried MacGyver

Aw, what a cute chapter:) I can totally relate to Cassie. My mom had no mercy when combing my tangled hair so I would go running to Grandma! I also understand about the lopsided pig tails...I had my share!
I love that you found something Mac CAN'T do...or at least not really well. Ha! He thought about cutting her hair! Just like a man, he has no idea what to do!
The illustrations are great, of course. The first one, especially, has wonderful detail once again...I'm thinking of the contents of the refrigerator...the detail in the sliced melon, the lids on the jam jars, etc.

Ah, great ending! I really think Mac should give this folks some lessons in parenting! I love how you tip-toed around what Mac does for a living! I never pictured the father looking like that...I guess I never really pictured him at all, but nice illustration. The Freeze Frame is awesome! Did you really take the time to write all those musical notes?!

I'll be on vacation next week and only have spotty wi-fi, but I'm looking forward to the outtakes so will read what you post when I get back if nothing else!

Thanks again for sharing such a great story!

Wow...three illustrations this time! All of them great as usual:)))
Awww...I could read about Mac and Cassie ALL DAY! So crazy sweet! I love Mac more and more!
LOL...it would have been funny if Cassie had found him hiding under the bed...wonder what creative excuse he would've come up with;)
Ah, the guitar again! I'm gonna have to work that into my story more often!
Great timing with this, by the way, as we are expected to get some potentially strong storms later today and overnight. *Sigh* wish I could have Mac hold ME!

Wow! Great job! Short but VERY INTENSE chapter! You had me worried with the title alone!
You did a super-excellent job describing Mac's dream...that's how dreams are! So often we write them into stories with logical plots, etc. But you really capture how they are and all the emotion surrounding it was outstanding! My heart really broke for Mac. He carries so much guilt/fear that no one...probably a lot of times not even himself, is aware of.
The illustration, as usual, was great...I think that's exactly how Mac would look.
And finally, I'm glad Dylan's okay!

Aww...nice chapter. I really like how you wove "Final Approach" and Ramone into it. Not sure if you meant to or not, but it shows how much Mac really does care about people and how much what he sometimes has to deal with affects him even though he might seem to act casual or shrug it off.

Hmmm...I agree with Mac that their mom using going to the doctor as a threat is not good. Hopefully he's right and they just misunderstood. But I have to chuckle a little because how often did Mac NOT go to a doctor himself, always saying, "I'm fine" or some such thing! ;)

I can relate to the kids and the splinters. My mom used to do the SAME THING with the needle. Ugh! I'd run away and decide that I'd just let it fester and work its way out before letting her poke around on me!

Awww...I like the "hand inspection"...sweet Cassie didn't want to be left out.

Mac has great views on punishment and I liked how he made the kids stay back while he worked on the hole...hopefully it's off limits for good, now.

Oh, and I did find the illustrations easily. The first one is so cute. I still love your detail and the "texture" you create. For example, in the second illustration the comforter(quilt) on Dylan's bed looks so puffy and comfy! And I like the colors, too! I may not know a lot about art, but I know what I like!

Very suspenseful chapter! I'm glad Mac listened to his gut...though I knew he would! You really did a great job describing the rescue and the pictures added to that as well:)) The scene reminded me of the episode, The Outsiders, where the little girl gets stuck in the Amish well.
Nice to see all the kids working together and taking care of each other. Could this perhaps be a turning point?!...at least until their parents get home? LOL! Great work:)

Whew! That was some chapter! Those kids are gonna be grounded until they're thirty! I agree with Mac...they all (except Cassie...he's SO good with her) need a good spanking!
Loved "Angry Mac" at the river. Totally reminded me of how he tied into the teens in Final Approach. He RARELY gets angry, but when he does he means it! I really liked how Mac thought about the "secondary" message the fable might have. I never thought of it that way. Then again, I don't have Mac's brain! Though I don't want anything bad to happen to the kids, they better not be teasing this time!
Love the illustrations...especially the second one because of all the detail that adds different texture to it. Well done all the way around!

Rats! Just when the story was gettin' good! Any plans on finishing this one any time soon?

Well, things were going pretty well up until that last bit!
Nice idea for "plates". The cooking pancakes reminded me of when he made the brownies to win over the teens.
That was just so precious with Cassie sleeping on him:))) So glad you chose to illustrate that! And include the little yellow bird:)
I'm with Cassie on the worm thing. Cute how she covered her eyes. I just subtly look away! Again very nice pic! Mac is so great at including her and making her feel special:)
So, I'm thinking the splash was probably a rock they threw in the water and Cindy is hiding somewhere. Oh, poor Mac. He's gonna go jump in the river, isn't he?

Ahh, very nice chapter. Everyone behaved so well! Has Mac really won them over or are they lulling him into a false sense of security! LOL! I love the firefly idea...the nicest part, for me, was when they agreed to release their bugs to be with their friends...though nice MacGyverism forming a "trap" out of a plastic bag and sticks. The ultimate recycler I guess! And of course, THE GUITAR!
Great illustrations. As usual you provide so much detail in the first one with the marshmallows and the owl, etc. The second one was a nice surprise...more "artsy" I guess, with the kids as shadows among the lightening bugs. I really liked that!

Super chapter AND illustrations! The beginning where Mac turns the sleeping bags into backpacks reminds me of when he turned his jacket into a teddy bear! It's also super convenient because then they don't have to take BOTH a backpack and sleeping bag! Great thinking!
OK...what's in the black case? Hmmm...
LOL...love how he reminds Dylan to find branches off the GROUND!
Aw, Cassie sure his becoming "his girl"...warms my heart the way he is with her. He knows what's going on but makes sure she's not singled out and is just as important as the others.

Mac's doin' a good job with the kids...with a little bribery! LOL! The tunnel to the fort was interesting. I'm so glad you decided to illustrate the scene when Dylan jumped on Mac's back!
Mac sure is brave taking those four shopping! Aw, and poor Cassie. Nice that you worked the guns in there and Mac gets to express his views in a casual way without preaching but I think the kids catch on (maybe!). The second illustration is wonderful. Great detail again from facial expressions to the sewer grate! However, placing them in front of a bakery with such wonderful detail is making me hungry!
I'll be looking forward to see how the camping goes!

Very nice chapter! Great MacGyverism...simple but effective! I sort of questioned Mac's decision not to go looking for them, but his strategy worked (and to his credit he DID worry a bit!). I LOVE how he is winning their respect...and with it, their compliance. As a teacher, I also believed kids would treat you better if they respected, as opposed to liked, you...not that both aren't nice! Hmmm...camping out overnight in the fort...sounds like more opportunity for trouble! Awww, he is so sweet with Cassie. Very heartwarming. Mac really should've had kids (not counting Sam!)
Great illustration...good ole Mac slumping on the couch. Kinda a requirement for him! LOL!
I also checked out the second illustration...Countdown...from the previous chapter. Great! I just love your attention to detail in all your drawings!

This chapter is SO well written! Glad to see Mac is really catching on to these kids. I love the thoughts you put in his head...TOTALLY MacGyver! And he's still as great as ever with the kids...even when he's doubting them:) I love the "family rules" the forget to tell him about! LOL! At the end, when the shed door slammed shut, I literally said "oh, no!" out loud, suddenly realizing what happened (just like Mac)! Glad I'm reading this at home and not work;) Yeah, Mac might've bit on that one, but these kids don't know who they're dealing with!
The illustration was great as usual but the perspective did surprise me (a good thing!). I thought it would come from Mac's. Looking forward to the other pic and next chapter...you have such a great imagination!
