I liked Spike's realization that his skill at pool can help him in a fight. Of course, he goes all in the first time, not thinking it all through - which pans out...mostly. I like Sensei more and more as the chapters go on. He's a sharp guy.
And Spike's just discovered the currency of the dorm - candy! Why do I feel like he's going to get himself in trouble trying to swipe more candy for everybody?

I like your fight scenes. They flow well and are fun to read. And naturally, our cocky little guttersnipe hasn't quite learned what he thinks he has, but I like seeing him start to succeed now. The challenge with the bells makes me think of the challenge in Mulan of climbing the pole with the weights - I'm curious to see how Spike manages to ring the bells ('cause I'm pretty sure he's gonna do it.) Why do I get the feeling that Anders might die later though? Maybe it's because I like the kid...anyway, on to the next chapter!

Of course Spike's the one to stand up to Vicious. I liked the little detail of the fact that Spike let Vicious grab his shirt when he's sitting on the windowsill. Vicious doesn't realize it yet, of course, but he's met his match.

This is rough...oof, what a childhood. Or lack thereof, I should say. Glad there were a few guys at the pool hall who looked out for Spike though. Seems like Joe oughta be more grateful, the moron. But I can see how the Dragon would appeal to Spike - powerless and lonely. The Dragon promised power, a lot of that. But it's got a price that our young Spike can't even fathom...

Well, I totally expected Spike to try and swim to the buoy and need rescuing :D I suppose it still could happen. I'm glad he's found Annie though, now it won't be so lonely for him.

There was a nice contrast of calm and action in this chapter. I enjoyed the conversation between Leonard and Spike, coaxing Spike little by little out of his suspicious edge. And then there's Vicious, living up to his name perfectly and disrupting everything. Spike's going to have to work hard to beat him.

Oh, the action here was good. Spike's an edgy little bastard isn't he? I like Leonard already (and as we know from your other stories, he and Mao eventually (sort of) tame Spike). I get the feeling that Spike is more in over his head than he knows though.
And Vicious - so cold, even this young. He's bit off a bit more than he can chew with Spike, even though he doesn't know it yet. This story has such a gritty edge to it from the get-go. I'm getting the feeling this will be a rough ride.

Oh, how wrong those enforcers turned out to be. Spike is anything but inconsequential. This is a rough start for our intrepid hero, but I'm curious to see where you take this from here! Spike is this complicated mix of surly, and naive, still a child, but he's seen way too much. Mao's certainly got his hands full now...
