for Ghosts of Liberty

Serena is ice cold and I love it and the best part is that it makes sense, you don’t watch/take part in your home world get ripped to shreds by the Zerg and walk away from that the same or even fine.

I wasn't expecting Nova to be sticking around with Raynor this long. The elephant in the room is when they finally meet up with Tosh. Now, Raynor would not be making a choice between a random Dominion ghost he doesn't know and a man he worked with for some time. Though, I don't know what will happen after that. Surely Nova would have to go back to the Dominion eventually. Though, once Valerian makes the deal with Raynor, Nova could be fighting with Raynor openly and legitimately.

I actually disagree with your assessment of Kerrigan at this point. Lore for this bit is confusing, as Blizzard admitted was their mistake, but simply put it goes to the Overmind.

It didn’t want to be controlled by Amon and it didn’t want its Zerg destroyed when they were no longer useful, so it made Kerrigan. Infested Kerrigan is indeed a straight bitch, the anti-villain aspects belong to DeZerged and Primal Kerrigan.

Thus in my opinion your current Kerrigan is fine in terms of lore.

Well that was intense, can't help but wonder if Serena's been reading more about Britannia and the likes and their whole obsession with Social Darwinism, since I do remember you mentioning in some of your other Starcraft related stories that the United Federation of Nations in Code Geass became the UED and the likes. Also while I am finding the direction of this reimagining to be cool, I really hope you don't go the Warhammer 40k route of Grim Derp, because grim darkness for the sake of grim darkness without some contrasting light is pretty boring, because that would lead to feelings like there's no one to care about if everyone are terrible awful people, you know?

This is certainly an... intense chapter. Agria has been reinterpreted in quite a more negative light, but probably a necessary one considering how the overall war is now being portrayed as more in the Dominion's favor. Thus if Agria is the only world not doing well, then it must be doing something wrong. Still, Serena's attitude is a bit off putting, though she is correct and the readers who do know the future can see exactly what she is talking about. I don't really know how I feel about all this.

Well said in your comments, I was truly let down by the actions of the SC2 plot, I enjoyed Jims character arc but Kerrigan left much to be desired.

Well yeah; Kerrigan was running on the overmind-influenced infested slave program until the artifact purge at the end of WOL. Then we got Kerrigan back and her making the Anti-Villain protagonist bad/hard choices in her game. It doesn't exactly kick in before that, thus the incongrutiy that would result in trying to Write her AS that before that point. Hell, even the games and lore said she was running off of the Remnant slave programming at this point in the story that had twisted view of herself and her actions into the Queen of blades; that's why they're treated as distinct Entities. WOL Still deals with Infested, Sarah's not in the driver's seat. And the Novelization Lore expansions have been ALL OVER THE PLACE in what reasonably could be treated as canon. So you're not wrong about how difficult it is to write Kerrigan as Anti-Villain here, it's just the placement of WHEN to apply that is wrong.

That was an almost surreal mixture of incompetence and delusion, and reading it I experienced a cross between amusement and bafflement. This does capture well how Kerrigan behaves in SC2, both in Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm.

In regards to the Author's note, I agree. Trying to make Kerrigan a hero was a mistake.

I love how it’s Kaloth that anyone is truly afraid of instead of Kerrigan.

Has it should be like real talk what even happened to the cerebrate in SC2 like you play as Artanis for the Protoss, maybe Matt for the Terrans, but they never once, to my knowledge, explain what happened to the cerebrate

Great chapter! I’m glad to see Kaloth worked into this-he’s my favourite character. A few mistakes where the person talking is mixed up, such as Raynor responding to himself instead of Serena.

Thank you for the new chapter. Always love and read your Starcraft stories as they take a more realistic look on the characters and let them actually have character arc/development

The battle in this chapter does have a different feel to it than what happened in the original game. Here, the defenders of Mar Sara did well and the zerg were simply flailing around, while in the game it feels like they were really overrunning the planet and the defenders were on the ropes and had to barely flee in time. Of course, the game didn't really go into detail to validate what really happened, but it felt slanted in the direction of the zerg winning.

I don’t have any big suggestions, but I would like to see kaloth eventually.

Wonderful dialogue and combat scenes. I do enjoy a pragmatic Nova.

In the original story, while it was implied that Raynor knew something was up with Tychus, he never really showed any indication of doing something about it, which made him come off as looking rather clueless. Here, we see more of Raynor's thoughts so it is clear that he has his own considerations as well and isn't blindly trusting Tychus.
