Just like in the movie, the children are scheming to see off the Baroness and bring their father and the governess together! Such a lovely chapter!

I love that they danced the Laendler in the empty ballroom, all alone except for the orchestra. And perfect that they kissed at the end this time! And what a beautiful proposal - how could any woman say no?!

What an interesting idea! During the party, Georg not only knows Maria has left and talked her into returning to the party, but knows Maria left because of Elsa’s little ‘chat’. It certainly flips the whole thing on its head!
I’m so pleased Georg didn’t waste any time ending things with Elsa - even if they did end up having a public spat! Geez, your Elsa really was annoying...even more so than usual!

Great update. Thanks for writing a chapter when Georg and Maria tell the children they're getting married. Update again soon.

I really liked chapter 3. Georg was right Elsa was invited as a guest and she could've left any time she wanted. I really wished that happened in the movie.

Damnnnnn. Elsa was a... politely put, not so nice person. I loved this heated argument. I love this in general. xx

Oh, this is my perfect version of the party! What can be better than the image of Georg taking off into the night after Maria as soon as he realises she’s left? So much more satisfying than him waiting a number of days for the Reverend Mother to finally send her back from the Abbey. Of course, as we know, the Captain is an honourable man, so I can’t help but wonder what might of become of Elsa back at the party while he’s sweeping Maria into his arms. But I’m happy to ignore that thought and just enjoy your lovely description of how I would prefer to imagine TSOM!

Lovely! This post Laendler scene makes me crazy in the film. I love that in your world he stops her and tells her that she’s enough just as she is, and that she doesn’t have to come to dinner if she doesn’t want to, and that he wants to talk to her later regardless. Yes! This is exactly what he should have done! Great story!

Beautifully written. I’ve always wanted to shake some sense into Georg during that scene where he acts indifferent towards Maria as he tries to control, process, ignore the feelings that burst to life when they’d danced the Laendler - so this was perfect!
