Aww, such a sweet story. I like seeing Lassiter in the before-times - his tension with Vick, the promise of something with Lucinda. It's all so nicely rendered here.

Aww very nice and believable imagining of the debacle. You captured Barry well and it is certainly plausible this is how they grew closer. Nice touch with him thinking of her by first name at the end. And that was an incredibly thoughtful gift.

His interaction with the chief adds a new layer to that scene in Tuesday the 17th when he gives her flowers and chocolates.

I always assumed the debacle involved some sort of explosive mess, but you provided a totally real story that fits early Lassiter perfectly for it.

Also, his names for McNab were amusing, especially FarTooEager. He is that indeed.

I like! Feels like a true picture of the way the partnership might have been between Barry & Lassiter, and also a true picture of Lassiter's mindset during that time in his life. Merry Christmas!

Ahh, a quote just for me, thank you! Of course, I immediately understood why, haha. I love it so much already! Off to a great start!

I love the character you're creating for Lucinda here, whom we never really know. "No," she said, "I don't. That's why I'm asking you." I love that-tells us so much about Lassie at the same time it builds their partner relationship.

And I absolutely ADORE your references to everyone's favorite, McFarTooEager/McStickingHisNoseIn. I absolutely believe that that would be Lassie's first impression of him. I also love that you referenced Lassie as both the Grinch AND Scrooge-I debated which one of those to use for AGES when I put it in a fic recently (along with the Abominable Snowman), eventually choosing the Grinch. I love how you've incorporated both!

Oh my goodness, Lassie's mother's advice! You are really doing a wonderful job worldbuilding here-giving us a glimpse at characters we never get the chance to spend time with, which tells us quite a bit about the character we DO know, Lassiter, and how he became the way that he is. Truly fantastic.

I laughed out loud at "he had saved Christmas", but also felt so anxious knowing it must end in disaster...

"And it has a cannon on the cover." This story is making me laugh so much, while I simultaneously feel terrible for Lassiter and am rolling my eyes at him at the same time. Hard to achieve that reaction, well done!

Oh, poor Lassiter! I love that sweet ending, though. I'm glad it was Lucinda all that time. And the "Merry Christmas, Ebenezer" was just perfect. Wow, I need you to write more Lassiter backstory, because this was wonderful. You incorporated all the elements of him that we know from that time-the divorce, the budding relationship with his partner, his odd relationship with the Chief-and, above all, it's so nice to finally have an answer to what the "Secret Santa Debacle of 2005" entailed! This is canon now, as far as I'm concerned.

This is just an all-around wonderful piece, and I loved it so much! Well done! Merry Christmas!

Such a sweet Christmas tale! Hit the warm and fuzzies on the head! I found myself saying “awww” more than once. This is the second Psych story I’ve read since the Musical one you wrote. BTW, I forgot to mention that ‘Lassiter’ was in a short-lived series called Galavant, which was a really nice musical where he played King Richard. Take a gander on YouTube.
