Sorry for the really late review, I'm sad it's over! But Thank you so much for providing a Sheelos-filled week, it brought back a lot of memories. The last two chapters were really nice. Out of habit, I tend to pick Zelos for the dinner party since it's an opportunity to see a moment where Zelos admits that he thinks the parties are drab and full of people with fake smiles, but I love the idea of him taking the opportunity to slip away with Sheena and then later Lloyd and Colette can join them - a nice time to hang out for these four important friends who have better things to do than suffer a stuffy party!

And I love that you also tackled the Sheelos date night with matching clothes. That's another thing that's fun to imagine what they went and did since we don't get to actually see it. But I loved this a lot, I like the idea that they used the moment to really have a good long heart to heart, and start planning what they might do when everything is over. Didn't expect what was practically a promise by Zelos to stay with er and try to make things work but that was really sweet! I liked them talking about themselves too, Sheena about her upbringing and Zelos about some of those insecurities he rarely voices.

And I like that this also segued into a place where Zelos could bring up the emissary of peace role to Sheena. The epilogue just sorta tosses us that juicy detail and doesn't give us anything else and I dearly wish it had! I also love that yes, it is indeed an excuse for Zelos to travel with her more. Hah, it kinda reminds me of the OVA which refused to take a stance on who ends up Lloyd's travelling companion and just gives us Colette AND Zelos AND Sheena, but clearly Zelos and Sheena talked about it together beforehand before they made that decision to tag along and that's kind of another conversation I wish I could have seen.

Once again, thank you for writing this! It was really nice seeing you return, and I hope you revisit writing for Symphonia and these two characters again.

Falling behind on writing reviews, but rest assured I'm following the updates! I know that Flanoir talks Zelos rescues the party fic ideas have had their share of rehashing by various writers but both of them are absolutely the kinds of fics I don't mind seeing a million takes on, they're really good starting points for interesting moments and conversations and I love everyone's ideas. I like yours too.

Flanoir is such an important moment for Zelos, even if you don't select him to talk, since lore wise it's the place that makes him think of the worst day of his life, and also whether he decides to trust in Lloyd's vision of the future or not. And GOD I like the idea that, oblivious or not, Lloyd does notice Zelos's habit of pushing him towards Sheena, and would unwittingly tip her off. Zelos is so bad at talking to her directly even though he's always looking out for her - he really would need that kind of kick to force him to confront it I think, as you note that Zelos unfortunately feels most comfortable when they're bickering or when jokes are involved.

sidenote, the parallels between Lloyd and Sheena and Colette and Zelos are so damn important and fascinating to me, so I'm glad that got a bit of time in your writing.

and yes Zelos needs to learn to accept that maybe, just maybe, there are people that truly do think the world is better because he's around.

As for this chapter, Zelos saving Sheena from the hole she fell in will always be some glorious imagery, the shock and conflicting emotions on her face while Zelos carries her with the wings he always hides on full display - it's something I definitely need to draw at least once. I really wish we'd gotten to see him try to properly make amends and convince everyone he was actually on their side and to to follow him once he played the Big Damn Hero.

The tour around Tethe'alla was added in the PS2 version (and therefore also the PS3 port). It's definitely one of the things i'm really glad they added - and they added a lot of really nice things. In general I'm fond of the set of skits that show the whole gang trying to decide where they're going to stay, and it's interesting that even there, Zelos seems to be leaning towards staying in Sylvarant because "Tethe'alla would be more peaceful without me".

I like the idea that he did need some extra time to think about though - due to a lack of proper day-night cycles in the game we never really know exactly how long the events take, whether it's days or months. Thanks for creating this moment where Zelos decided to spend it with the one person in Tethe'alla he has a real connection to (besides Sebastian), and they can unload their thoughts and feelings, how Sheena's torn about what needs to happen because the people of Mizuho are her family. I liked Sheena catching that hint of weariness and regret he feels because of Seles, and how in general Zelos hides a lot of lonely dark thoughts. On a lighter note, I also enjoyed them discussing Lloyd and Colette 3.

Keep them coming! Thank you, I've been enjoying the daily read very much.

Just finished my OVA rewatch too! Had to go down Symphonia memory lane in one fell swoop. The OVA has its flaws, but one thing it did better than the game without question was all the emotional gut-punches. I also love that they threw us Sheelos fans a bone with Zelos trying to cheer Sheena up after facing down Volt. Thanks for creating even more moments for them to bond over reminiscing and celebrating Corrine's life - Things may be sad, but those memories with Corrine will become happy ones again with time.

Silly Zelos, Corrine's a fox! But of course, Sheena's correct that the only food for him is Mana.

I really am strangely always delighted when a fic talks about the party setting up camp for the night or cooking dinner or anything else domestic that comes with going on a long journey, the kind of things we as the player never really got to see as we tirelessly ran across the overworld.

Wow Arctic Husky, that's a blast from the past! I remember back when I first started delving into Symphonia fic and you were one of the first authors I read. I think it's rather serendipitous that I also finally broke out my copy of PS3 Symphonia and played through the game again, and now i'm inundated with the good ol' Symphonia feels all over again. I'm absolutely thankful that lil-samuu still helps keeps the Colloyd train going (another familiar username!), but I gotta admit when I saw you posted something new I clicked so fast! Even after all these years I still love Sheelos, but my only skill is in fanart (and maybe comics...) so fic is always a treat for me.

Love this. It's always fun when instead of ignoring the mundane game mechanics, a fic actually makes some of those puzzles a real ordeal the gang went through lol. And I really love how you showed the ways the party was working together, rather than it just be that single onscreen character.

And of course, I enjoyed that you made this a time for Zelos and Sheena to talk. As always the tragedy of these narratives is how the game so heavily focuses on the relationships with Lloyd, that the other characters relationships with each other fall through the cracks. It's clear that Zelos and Sheena knew each other beforehand, so I liked getting the chance to see them catch up a bit - and squeezing in a good feelsy flashback in there too. I'm always on the fence on if I think Sheena actually does know Zelos's past, at least to some extent, but I really like the idea that its something they could bond over - them both having traumas associated with weather phenomenon.

I'm thrilled you're writing this, I look forward to more! Rooting for you all the way. Hopefully, I can get my art game going again too.

Ok, I have to comment because it's so weird that, well, I must've followed you 10 years ago because you wrote something ToS that I really liked - oh, no, checked and it was Last Story. I've subbed *maybe* five people and haven't gotten a single email notification for all that time. Now here I am again reading this. It's just... surreal.

It's been 10 years since I played the game but I still vaguely remember everything. The trash compactor is one of the clearer memories.
