A lovely lovely epilogue, to this beautiful story. Harry finally accepting Ruth's explanation of Jane's expose. Finn getting up early to walk Molly is delightful. especially Finn sharing the packet of biscuits with Molly It was good to read that Malcolm has settled on the Island, buying a house and planning to write a book. Thank you for writing... looking forward to your next story.

The entire Finn-getting-up-early-and-trying-to-dress-and-feed-himself scene is a real treat to read and envision in one's own mind. Absolutely precious...throughout and right on down to the dog-walking note left for Ruth, written by Harry & Finn in crayon and including two kisses.
Ruth's explanation to Harry regarding his continued confusion about Jane's previous comments to Ruth reveals Ruth's reflective nature leading to her very wise words to him...along with a reminder that they were going to choose a new dog the next day. So normal.
The realities that Malcolm is moving to the island and will be writing a book, Harry seems to have taken on Ruth's explanation about Jane, the boys *know* that their parents love them, and that Ruth's and Harry's love for each other is deep and and precious to them both and the foundation for the life that they have built for themselves and their boys.
This has been a wonderful story!

Beautiful ending to a most wonderful story. Loved Molly, the new edition to the Pearce household. So glad Malcolm found a place nearby to call home. God help him when Harry realises who ‘James’ is in his forthcoming book, though;). Jane’s realisation about not really loving Harry in the way Ruth does shed some light on her prickly nature. Sounds like they’ll be seeing a lot of her in the future. Finn is the most gorgeous little boy and I’m so happy he has found love and peace with the Pearces. Here’s hoping Harry and Ruth find a moment to celebrate their love without being interrupted. Thoroughly enjoyed this one and looking forward to your next story, as always!

A great chapter with the extended family all gathered for the wedding. Loved the character Maria and Harry thinking of the possibility of rendering Maria unconscious for the wedding . Little Finn did a good job as did Alice and Thomas . Quite a bombshell Jane "unburdening herself" to Ruth. Looking forward to the epilogue. Please stay safe.

Lovely, lovely chapter. Firstly, I was really sad to hear about Whiskey. Everything went so well regarding the wedding and I’m glad Jane wasn’t a total cow, in fact the chat she had with Ruth at the end was lovely. The mother in law was an amusing addition. Glad to hear there will be an epilogue next week!

So many parts to this chapter that are both lovely and decidedly 'real', as in the reader can visualize 'really happening'.
*One has to snicker at "...if Maria slipped into temporary unconsciousness during the wedding" - we've all experienced someone like this and unconsciousness *is* a possible solution. (HA!)
*The innocence of 4-year-old-soon-to-be-5 Finn is very apparent-the entire 'not dropping the rings' scenario, saying "faster Daddy", and inviting Jane to his birthday party.
*The revelation to the readers of the thoughts of Chris is a excellent insight into the man Catherine is marrying; e.g., love transcending people and nations, Catherine thinking of the island as 'home', and him thinking that Harry and Ruth would always be there-"...the couple he trusted more than any other."
*Jane's confession in the final part of the chapter shows that she has learned the art of reflection and in doing so, has come to see Harry with new eyes and now understands the love relationship between Harry and Ruth. Excellent.
Very much looking forward to the epilogue!

A vomiting child is never an easy situation especially when the child is in bed. But the Pearce family handle it with a great deal of finesse with Ruth at the helm. Another lovely family orientated chapter
with Catherine experiencing that a family can be complete with adopted children. Chris seems to fit into
the family very well... looking forward to the wedding, Stay safe

It was a delight gaining insight into Harry's & Ruth's reflection/discussion on their adoptions of the boys and the remembering other young children and their losses as well. This particular portion of the chapter led to two of my favorite lines: "A future that the *did* have control over and were revealing in." and (from Finn) "Daddy hold." Lovely.
Comic relief is present in Finn's telling his story to the chickens and proving what he was saying by dropping his trousers and accidentally, his pants. Such a funny picture and a real treasure at that.
The upcoming wedding seems well-planned, although Harry & Ruth still needed to be informed of the particulars, with Chris apparently being accepted by Harry as a suitable partner for Catherine. I can't wait until Jane finds out about the decision to still have the ceremony at the island's church. Methinks she will not be happy.
Great chapter all around. And who knew Harry can not abide others vomiting...after all he's been through. Kind of funny in a bizarre sort of way.

Nice! Poor little Finn, glad he’s feeling so much better now. Who’d have thought the great Harry Pearce couldn’t cope with a bit of vomit (that was very amusing). Sounds like the wedding plans are coming along nicely and all is well with the Pearces. Chapter 18 please.

Lot of family interaction which is lovely. A little bit of envy from Rose re: Harry's and Ruth's former life as spies but we all know the grass is not often greener, right? Finn seems to be growing in confidence to the point that *he* wants to be the one to give the tour of the yard, henhouse, etc. when the guests arrive, but shows his young age giving into excitement about the guests' arrival that he fails to follow directions and hurting himself in the process. Catherine's sharing about having children was surprise and certainly caught Harry bye surprise and it will very interesting to read Harry's response to her question in a future chapter. Loving this story!

A very reflective and curious Rose at the beginning of this lovely family orientated chapter.. Hopefully Finn has learnt his lesson about climbing high walls. As the extended Pearce family are getting together Catherine's conversation with Harry as a page turner and now Finn being sick ch 17 will be interesting.

A very detailed and enjoyable chapter. Finn’s such a sweet little boy and the reunion with Thomas was just lovely. I’m sure Finn’s learned the hard way not to stand on a big wall when he’s been told not to! Catherine’s question to Harry at the end was very interesting and explains why she was so reluctant to talk to him. Looking forward to his response and chapter 17, of course!

Phew a tense but gorgeous chapter. With all the prays and good wishes out in the ether from family and friends, the very bureaucratic Mr Roberts and his cohorts could only come to one conclusion. I loved Ruth saying to Finn that Harry needed a cuddle. The future looks rosy for Finn Pearce and for a much relieved H&R. They can now get on with rural life which includes chickens & a wedding. Looking forward to Ch 16

Cheers for Mrs. Davies, who seems to be a hero here, for giving the final push to the 'I'm-enjoying-this-too-much' Mr. Roberts. Good thing he didn't know who Harry really was, how far he would go to protect those whom he loved, and...what he could do with a tie. And the woman did give a very good visual threat too.
The many scenes involving Harry, Ruth, Finn, Rose, and by extension Catherine, Graham, Michael, and Thomas, provide such a hopeful sense of support of family and friends and a real sense of community. Heaven knows Harry and Ruth deserve it. Especially touching was Harry's musing about the difference between Thomas and Finn and how good it would be, Harry thought, "...spending time with Finn on his own, would open up a whole new dialogue." And we mustn't forget Ruth telling Finn "...that his daddy needed a cuddle." Great, great chapter!

Another lovely chapter with the best possible outcome regarding Finn being able to stay with H/R forever! I was as nervous as Harry and Ruth were awaiting the outcome. I can just imagine the Pearce’s pottering around the garden and Harry and Finn collecting those eggs together. Looking forward to the next chapter.
