for Final Fantasy VII: Reflections - Book 2: Ascent

Yep, that's next. Now that I've got a bit of a start on this story, I'm going to back and see about finishing Lifestream Book 2. Only a few chapters left to go there. Won't end where I'd originally planned, but that's okay. What I've got in mind now fits, too.

1. They're nice, but there aren't any for the rest of the cast, meaning it would be visually inconsistent. Jessie's remake concept art looks close enough to the style of the original that it fits well with them, but WotV's art style is a bit too different.

2. It's been a long time since I've played CC, so I don't really remember any of the unique materia from there. So probably not.

3. Oh, her mom's definitely a sore point between them, yeah. Much like you said. They hardly ever talk about her, and the three were very close before she died. Even though it's been years now, I don't think either of them's really moved on.

4. I'm not familiar with that government, so I don't really know.

5. Not sure, though he and his fellows did already help Jessie escape the division in Reflections Book 1 when she quit by refusing to arrest or shoot her, which was why Scarlet tried to do it herself.

Welcome back Author,

I'm glad you got out another chapter for this story, and I'm guessing you'll be resuming the Lifestream Book 2 story; since you mentioned that was your intention in one of your response postings. I got some random questions to ask you below:

#1. You know, in the Creative Uncut website, "War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius" has character artworks for Cloud, Tifa, Barret, and Aerith. In your honest opinion, wouldn’t those images work much better for their character portraits in the menu screen for your mod; as opposed to using the original game’s character portraits?

#2. In your Lifestream series, will we see any Materia that was only seen in Crisis Core?

#3. Since Yuffie’s mother has only been mentioned in the Final Fantasy Wiki to have died of illness when Yuffie was young, maybe within your series, her death probably played a partial role in the fallout between Yuffie and her father? Maybe Yuffie wrongfully assumes that Godo is more focused on the war against Shinra rather than grieving the death of his wife?

#4. Assuming the new Wutai government is truly legit in the game (as some conversations between Yuffie and Sonon seem to indicate), I’m assuming that it will probably be akin to Japan’s Mejii-era government (during the early years)?

#5. In regards to that Shinra infantryman who acts like as though he were Scarlet’s lapdog, do you think that he will eventually muster up the courage to rebel against her; whether in your series or in canon?

Possibly, though it may be different since Jessie was helping Tifa get ready for her mission to infiltrate Corneo's mansion instead of sitting on the patio like in Intermission. Sorry if this came through twice btw.

Hey Author,

Just out of curiosity, since this is from Jessie's POV, will we see her unofficial encounter with Yuffie in a manner similar to the Intermission DLC?

He might've just forgotten about it, at least that part of it. Jessie told him over two months before their mission in Wall Market, and they've had a lot going on in that time. So I think it just slipped his mind, most likely.

Hey Author, I just realized something. Doesn't Jessie talking to Wedge about what she did technically contradicts his reaction to what Jessie told him and the others in Chapter 37 of Lifestream Book 2 while they were following Tseng to the bar? I mean, Wedge shouldn't have known she blew those guys up; unless he was just playing along with it due to being told here.

Thanks, glad you like it so far! And my description is actually right - Reflections Book 2 does retell the events of Lifestream Book 1 from her point of view.

1. I don't have a set schedule, I just go by what I feel like working on. I think I'll do another chapter or two of this story before going back to Lifestream since I do want to finish Book 2. But other than that, I don't know.

2. If I tell that story, I'll most likely be as a flashback in Lifestream.

3. Well, Jessie won't really be aware of anything that's going on outside of her, and she may be too weak to hear Cloud at that point. But I've got a few ideas for the ending, you'll just have to wait and see... _

Today’s Review:

Holy cow! I honestly didn’t expect you to be working on this story! No wonder I haven’t seen any activity on Lifestream Book 2 this week. However, your summary for Reflections Book 2 is slightly incorrect because you said Book 1 instead of Book 2 on it. I’ve nothing much to say except it’s a great start and I look forward to the rest of Reflections Book 2.

Random Stuff:

#1. With you now working on Reflections Book 2, what can we expect on your working weekly schedule in regards to both this story and Lifestream Book 2?

#2. I’ve been wondering for some time now if you should do a story on your own version of the events of Intermission DLC at some point? The reason I'm asking is because I remember how one of the things you mentioned in one of your response postings to me before was that Yuffie and Sonon likely encountered and fought the Type-0 Behemoth in your series before Cloud and the others did. Or do you plan to tell this story as part of a Yuffie-centric flashback in your Lifestream series?

#3. I suspect the conclusion of Reflections Book 2 will parallel the events at Aerith’s house in chapter 21 of Lifestream Book 2; as such, I suspect Jessie will hear Cloud’s voice saying,” Jessie! No! Don’t you die on me!” at the same time she remembers that she felt her body falling from the top of the platform in the Sector 7 pillar.
