Chess is useless for a war or even a political game. chess is rigid with so many rules and equal holdings and beginnings. Real world does not do that.
So many people equate able to play chess with great strategy or something. Let me tell you, if that is the case, chess tournament winners would rule the world.

It is not up to Tywin to decide where the heir to the Reach marries and where he doesn't,and i have said he should broach the subject before Robert makes his own.

Catelyn may know Sansa has a shot at being Queen, but she will hardly object to the Reach as the Stark's and Tyrells are both in agreement of the match, who is Tywin to complain.

Do you think Ned Stark will give a rat's ass about someone complaining to who his daughter marry? It's up to the Houses to make their match,no one else can interfere.

Besides, you give the Lannister's too much credit, they are as powerful as people believe them to be.

The Tyrells are not really that scared of them,if they were they would not have been in open rebellion against Margery married Renly, they did it to ultimately seize power, just like everyone else does when it suit's them, they allied with the Lannister's when the wind turned, and immediately she was betrothed to Joffrey,

If they were weak that will not have happened, and now they are stronger than before and there are still years before the wars begin, plenty if room for growing stronger.

You can still have Willas be engaged to Sansa and just declare themselves neutral in the coming conflict and keep their forces intact while the rest bleed.

She can go up the kingsroad with the king's party and then split to Highgarden to to get to know her intended,it is not uncommon practice.

And when it comes to Dorne's wanton ways they are not as exaggerated as you may think, there are tensions between House Martel and House Yronwood precisely because Oberyn f*cked Lord Yronwood's wife and mistress both, and then killed him with poison,go marry into that.

I confess i don't know much about Arianne Martel, but i still think it's a bad both Mace and Ollena hate them.

You say the war is gonna happen which is fair enough, but in that case why are you considering Robb as a match for Margery?

As a man,a match between him and Margery is far more dangerous for Lannister interest than a Stark girl marrying in the south.

If Margery is to marry Joffrey and/or Tommen, and Willas is married to Sansa,on the surface,it still serves Lanister's interest, because their strongest ally has married their enemy into their House,it's not ideal as Sansa being married to Tyrion, but there is nothing they can do,and since the betrothal was decided long before there was any conflict,it will not be seen as betrayal of any kind, rather just dumb luck.

Ollena was wiling to marry Sansa to Loras after the war had happened and they have rebelled, you think she won't before?
Sansa has considerably more value than Arianne, especially with the war that's about to is the key to the north.

Considering MC's knowledge of future event's this is the match that makes the most sense, rather than Dorne where there are plenty of other heir's,besides,Doran doesn't even want to give Arianne Sunspear, the one to benefit more from this will be the Martel's and not the Tyrells.

More secure border's,discount on food, increased trade with the new Reach goods (that we have no idea what they are but the whole world seems to want)discount on them as well perhaps, and Arianne which will be expected to relay Tyrell secret's to Dorne, anyone who doesn't believe Doran would tell her to keep her ears to the ground for Tyrell trade secret's is an idiot of the highest order, and cherry on top,her son will one day rule the Reach ensuring future cooperation's as well.

And what does House Tyrell get out of this? discounted Dornish wine? compared to and naive(key to the north) little Sansa bring's an opportunity for a Tyrell to inherit Wintefell, perhaps even under the Tyrell is no comparison between the two.

That is why i think the match that makes the most sense would be Sansa, unless Willas decides to go for the Iron Throne himself,in which case Denerys, but before her marriage to was too strong for control ,that's my opinion.A match between the Reach and Dorne would stink far too much.

what a stupid fucking useless chapter

Personally i don't know how anyone would ever marry a Dornish except a if she does not give you a bastard, who is to say she will not give you horns?when it comes to Margery's marriage,Tommen is not a bad idea, after Joffrey dies in one tragic accident or another, before cannon begins.A weak king is good for House to Loras with Casterly Rock as the dowry, after House Lannister goes extinct, and Willas can marry Sansa, before betrothal is set between her and Joffrey,he can beat the king by proposing before Jon Arryn dies, assuming he still does Ned Stark gives his word, even if the king insist's to a match after that,he won't break his word.A sweet and naive girl of a famous name is more desirable match than a Dornish one whom you can't be sure she won't stray from the marriage bed,and in that case what are you supposed to do,spy her constantly and be on your guard against her? That's no way to live, better a girl who will love you and support you,and Sansa is easily impressed in the start of the series,MC should marry her and be loyal to her as well,it will be a marriage far more productive, and he can use this as an excuse to support the The Wall with supplies ,not the Stark's,The way he won't particularly strengthen another House while still endearing himself to all northern Lord' can also stop the War Of The Five King's before it even began,he only has to kill,Baelish and Lysa immediately after Jon Arryn dies, that way dum-dum Ned Stark does not go on a ghost chase,if he does and get's captured like before Robb will still start a war that he can use to weaken the Lannister's at every turn and borrow Robb's knife to bleed them more so than before,Tommen send's Ned to The Wall and he can convince Robb to not continue the war,and go back to Winterfell and pledge fealty from there, that way the Lannister's are weakened form the war with the north and Stanis's forces, the northern lord's won't complain much since they got to win great victories against the south and go home before harvest intact, enough to prepare for the Great war without having to rely on dragon's,ergo forget about the stupid Targ' sorry this turned so long, once i started writhing i couldn't stop, maybe i should write a fanfic myself hahahaha, anyway thank's for the chapter,i am loving this fanfic ;)

good chapter

Not a bad chapter, but it also brought me great confusion.

For example, why didn't Willas include the Riverlands in his list? Arguably it is as prolific an area as the Reach. Although not as prosperous as them due to the constant infighting and numerous conflicts, they still have fertile lands, fishing, and trade, offered by their network of rivers.

Edmure Tully is kind of a goof IMO. He is overeager to prove himself, but he usually ends up looking like a fool. He may not be the smartest, but he did care about the commoners, which is admirable. He would have made a good peacetime lord but is not cold-blooded enough to be good at making war.

But a marriage between Margaery and Edmure might not have been a bad decision to make. He would have been easy for her to control and manipulate. Then all she needs to do after the 'accident' with the old Walder Frey would be to consolidate her power by appointing the new lord of the Crossing. Something easily accomplished by suggesting it first to her husband.

Then if Willas also kills off Littlefinger, the Tyrells would have connections to the Tullys, House Arryn, and House Stark. A somewhat stable alliance of four kingdoms is no joke.

But that is just my opinion on the matter of the kingdoms' heirs.

Now back to the chapter.

Isn't it better for Willas to prevent the war, or at least postpone it for a time, by killing Littlefinger when he visits one of his brothels, for example? It's the easiest solution. Jon Arryn will stay as the Hand, and Ned Stark and his brood won't have to go to the Red Keep for a few more years. Enough time for the White Walkers to start their attack on the Wall and for Dany to hatch her dragons and come to Westeros.

Killing Walder Frey seems like a bad idea. Even if Edmure did not charge recklessly at the Freys to get captured, they were not the real reason for the death of Catelyn and Robb, only the knife in the dark. That was the Lannisters and Tywin's plan. Even the Boltons were just opportunists that used the weakness of their liege lords to betray them.

Not to mention, the one that arranged for the conflict to begin is Littlefinger. He comes off as harmless, unimportant, friend to all, and at the same time is not a great lord, so he is easy to be killed, and people will soon forget about him.

Last, that marriage proposition from Dorne came out of nowhere. It sounds like one of the complicated plans made up by Doran that is likely to fail, like his other plans in the books. I would stay away from the Dornish and anything to do with Arianne as well. She sounds to me like a young Cersei. So not great for the health.

I don't know why is Willas so interested in weakening the Lannisters and strengthening the Starks. He is a Tyrell. As long as he doesn't fully support someone at all costs, most likely than not, he and his House will survive and even strive no matter the circumstances. That is, of course, if the Night King does not prevail, and the Long Night doesn't become permanent.

Wanting to support young Griff so far in the future seems like a mistake to me. Or anyone else, for that matter. There is a reason that lords and kings have spies and councils. So they will be able to measure the merits and demerits of each of their decisions. He has already brought many changes to the world by introducing ships that needed specific circumstances and time to be discovered and used. At this point, he is not sure of anything that is going to happen in the future. And him messing with the Freys doesn't help his situation at all, I might add.

Sorry for all my ramblings. I think you have a good story, but some things are a bit out of place and devoid of logic, at least to me. It might be because it's from Willas' perspective and thus not entirely reliable, I don't know. In any case, I would like a story that can stand on its own and is not wholly reliant on the books and the show's representation of the characters and situations. That would require Willas to be more proactive in finding news and more discerning.

See you in the next update.

If he does marry Arianne I hope she doesn’t cheat on him.

something to keep in mind is galleys with oars ruled oceanic combat until cannon came.

cannons mostly won by knocking tons of huge splinters out below decks which would slaughter the crew and with a spread of nails or grapeshot to clear decks.

galleys with cannon were more reliable over long distances and choppy ocean, but in short sprints and calm water galleys still had the edge without cannon.

Cans, as in steel cans? or even glass? Dude do you know how ridiculously costly they are in a medieval society. No you need an industrial revolution happening to get these things going.

It's an ok chapter.

However, it's a bit too coincidental that those slavers groups came all by themselves and demanded such favorable conditions. Someone must have informed them of the new fleet of the Reach and their faster speed.

Another thing is that those goods that they want to trade sound very much like slaves. And considering the fate of the Seven are against slavery, this whole deal might become problematic in the future. Or be used to smear the name of the Tyrells and the Reach.

They were already the envy of most other Kingdoms due to their favorable territory and bountiful crops. So if they bring too much attention to themselves from the gold they make by trading as well, a lot more 'bandits' and 'pirate ships' raids might come to them than they used to. Most likely coming from the Iron Islands, the Golden Tooth, Dorne, and of course near Essos.

It might be best for the Reach to get in an agreement with Dorne or even the lions. This way, the Reach will have some supporters both at court and in the open sea. The Tyrells and the Hightowers are known for not fighting needlessly and making good deals even when they lose. And if Willas overplays his hand here, there might be too much uncertainty in the future. Not to mention that having good connections is always welcomed in business.

It won't be a bad idea to get in a trading agreement with Stannis for some obsidian (Dragonglass) as well. Willas might say that he wants to make ornaments and jewelry with it.

See you in the next update. Hopefully, it won't be too long.

cans and jars for food, in that age? those ppl do not even know the value of washing your hands so why would they boil jars and cans before filling them? not to mention to mass produce either is far beyond their tech level.

meh far to much political manuvering for me, granted this is expected for a tyrell story.

cudos on doing something different then a stark or 'crown prince' though. best of luck with this but it isnt for me

i always find stories not told from the MC very weird to read even more so when the MC is an SI.

mentioning this in your summary seems far more useful then some random poem that means nothing.
