for And There Was Only One Floor

This was adorable. Of course Rinoa would try to babble her way out of embarrassment and only succeed in digging a deeper hole. Great work pulling the trope into their reality; I'm generally not a fluff reader but you always manage to pull it off and get my attention anyways!

This is a trope I found myself translating at least twice - along with the "forced marriage" trope which is even stronger in romance novels. I like the way you took it and used it differently, making it work with Squall's analytical mind and Rinoa's insecurities. I also liked the way they coaxed thoughts out of each other. Nice touch having Squall making a phone call during check-in and then referencing it later on in the story. And aw, he wasn't about to let them go their separate ways without a fight! So sweet and so Squall in the same time.
I also loved the small reference to stay close to me, which Squall probably didn't get. The idea of him dragging her to a floor in retaliation is funny.
Wonderful use of this year's theme. I loved this. Thank you for writing it and for all the work you put into running this annual challenge!

Gah I love Squall with drier than the desert humor, it fills me with such joy. This was DELIGHTFUL.

Hehe, this was very cute and just great fun from beginning to end.

I loved the cold opening and trying to work out what the heck was going on. Cackling Rinoa is a fun image that we don’t see much. And she’s a witch, so… gotta have a proper cackle from time to time.

I like the thing about only Zell and Quistis being of age. Plenty of scope there to imagine Zell being constantly cajoled into buying beer for everyone and quietly disapproving, because he’s far more into energy drinks. I’m sad for Angelo getting sent off to the kennel. Boo.

What’s particularly great is the way your narrative is 100% upfront and self-referential about the “only one bed” trope being a contrivance from the start, and uses it anyway :D And the painful, fumbling way Rinoa goes on to unpack it with Squall explicitly. (Who has no idea what she’s talking about since he never had the time or inclination to read trashy romance novels. I love the “Or the floor was made of lava” tangent.) I really enjoyed the way you handled it.

(I also love the “certified think-y face.” Heh.)

The awkwardness and the back-and-forth between them is just so well done. And the ending is full of awwww. Great one-shot!
