I advise you to look a little more into the canon.
there are a few books on the subject.
"In Darkness Find Me" (Comic)
"Treason" (Comic)
"The Price of Peace" (Comic)
"In Harm's Way" (Comic)
"To Dream in the City of Sorrows" (novel)
"In Valen's Name" (Comic)

Did you ever finish watching the TV series, or at least all the way through Season 4?
I saw that there was a comic book that covered the story of Sinclair during the time of his initial reassignment (although I haven't seen it myself). I don't know if any future volumes continued the story or not, but it would be interesting to read an expanded version of it.
Sheridan might have been a more emotional/empathetic commander, but I do feel bad for having the need to write Sinclair out. It was good to seem him back long enough to close his story arc.
