for Where Heroes Lie

Ahh, what a peaceful, beautiful end to this series. When I started reading it I never really expected that, I honestly expected a more goofy, comedy-movie type ending, but I'm definitely not complaining. This series really took so many turns as far as mood and character development that just blew my mind and I truly appreciate how far it's come. I think writing is a never-ending growth process, and you were already a talented and incredibly entertaining author when I started this, but your skill and courage as a creator continues to grow and I feel so happy I got to come along on this journey with you and your characters.
Highlights:
"Eternal peace did sound nice, but she felt like she'd probably get bored." (there would BE no eternal peace with Quinn around, she'd just be bouncing from person to person pestering them until they threw her out a window)
Bilbo and Thorin sailing out together; it makes me ten thousand times happier knowing Bilbo has Thorin to go with him this time around.
Frodo deciding to stay with Sam; I honestly have been wondering if that was how things would go down and I'm glad you went that route. Obviously there's so much love between them anyway, but I think it's also important to show characters taking the steps to heal from their trauma and choosing opportunities for happiness when they come around. I mean, I love me some good angst and emotional turmoil in my stories as much as the next person, but a hopeful ending just hits different (plus...Sam's devotion, like...catch me weeping in the corner)
Toven talking about missing Eowyn and Faramir had me soft
Quinn's decision to leave is totally understandable and I think I'd do the same in her position. Never mind the fact that I can also see her getting bored stuck in Middle-earth forever (and that the thought of living forever kinda gives me the heebie jeebies personally), she just would be miserable constantly watching all the people she cares about grow old and die. I know this isn't exactly what she's planning to do but honestly it's kind of cool (and hilarious) to think of Quinn just hopping from one universe to the next and wreaking havoc while also saving the day (more on that in a sec).
and ending it on Quinn asking Toven to go to the beach with her was really sweet, and a cute way to wrap things up.
So coming to the end of another one of your amazing stories, I'm feeling a little choked up about this one. It just occurred to me that this is the first of your stories that I started reading (well, aside from your twd parody which I still maintain is hilarious), so there's an added layer of sentimentality for me with this coming to an end. I am happy to hear you're open to possible spin-offs and related stories if the time ever comes, but I also understand if this truly is the final installment in the Quinn series. Also, I have to applaud you for your song choice this chapter. I unironically love "Hero" (and the Toby Maguire Spiderman soundtracks altogether), but it really do be hitting different just picturing Quinn being a total dumbass to it.
Anyway, so! I thought in honor of this series ending, maybe I could ask a couple questions about it (just for funsies, totally don't have to answer if you're busy or just not up to it)?
IF...you were to put Quinn in another universe, which do you think would be most entertaining to see her fumble around in? (could also apply to Toven, although it honestly pains me to think of him separated from Faramir and Eowyn lol)
WHAT...is your favorite scene?
CAN...you give a synopsis of either/both stories using the "explain a movie plot badly" format?
Anyway lol Thank you for sharing this series with us. It's truly been a ride from start to finish, and I've enjoyed cheering you on the whole way. I hope you'll find just as much comfort and entertainment in these other projects as you did in this one (I see you've already posted the first chapter to a new story that sounds very intriguing). I'm very proud of you and I'm eager to see where your writing takes you next! :)

...I can't believe it's over? Like, this is the end. I'm so, so proud of you for finishing (another) stellar story but OOF I already miss Quinn. (And you know I am always here to indulge your nonsense and threaten you while cheering you at the same time.) Whatever you do next with Quinn's story, if anything, I'll be there.
It's truly been wonderful to see you grow as a writer over the years - this story, I think, is a culmination of all the talent you've harvested and all the heart you have for the characters and fandom. Your writing has always been amazing to read but I think this story sits on a tier above the rest.
Loved this, love you, and I can't wait to see what you do next!
(PS - Sam and Frodo 4ever!)

AWWWW such a bittersweet ending. but i get it. Quinn has dealt with a lot and is probably addicted to moving around. I don't think she could handle any more losses. And it's nice to see Belekur and Quinn be friends; I feel their character has become somewhat less of a jerk. A thoroughly enjoyable story, thank you so much!

Congratulations on finishing this epic sequel! No need for me to listen to "Hero", I've heard it so many times in the past that the lyrics are already in there haha. Sam and Frodo belong together and I'm glad you kept them as a couple. I love the idea of spin-offs and a third installment, but take a break for a little while and refresh yourself. You deserve it!

Man, Toven really stole the show in this one. He's certainly never been in need of a backbone, but it was still refreshing all the same to see how he wouldn't be pushed around for anything. And not just in his own defense but also in Eowyn's. That's my boy, I'm so proud lol
Highlights:
"'Ever since that crown landed on your head, you've spoken almost exclusively in inspirational phrases and elegant proverbs." (lol I live for Toven just casually busting everyone's balls)
"For the first time in a long while, he had something bright and safe in his future to look forward to."
Quinn wishing Legolas and Gimli a happy honeymoon and Legolas flipping her off xidjouasslgtsl
when Toven is like "speak plainly to me. I grew up with dwarves, we don't have time for the b.s.", like, HELL yeah
"Duty was a cage that would cause Eowyn to wither." (this was a beautiful line, but also, like...he's right. I realize this is just the way the world is for them, but...it sucks lol)
but seriously, Toven just going off on Eomer's ass until he's finally just like "talk to Eowyn yourself, don't deny her through me" like *chef's kiss*
Eowyn trying to figure out what to do for Toven as far as the other men was sweet. Even though she can't know what he's feeling the way Faramir can, she still does her best to understand him and do what's best for him, and that's what's really important.
So I've said before, I understand somewhat where Eomer's coming from, but I'm really hoping he comes around and supports Eowyn's relationship. There's only one chapter left, so I'm really curious to see if his viewpoint changes in any way. And speaking of there only being one chapter left, I'm really excited but I'm also not ready! It's seriously going to be so weird not reading about Quinn's adventures. However, I am super interested to see what she decides to do as far as Belekur and her own future. Anyway, another great chapter, and I cannot wait to see how this story concludes!

Sorry, I'm a lot later to this party than I wanted to be, but I'm here now and excited to finally read these chapters! And ah, man, it's off to a great start with Toven explaining Quinn's strange terms to Eowyn and Faramir. That is honestly one of my favorite tropes in this whole series, I never get tired of it.
Highlights:
"The sorrow didn't fully leave his expression, and Toven knew the insecurities that had been planted by Faramir's father were rooted deep. It would take time for him to heal."
Faramir and Toven's little date is very romantic and sweet, it's nice that the three of them already seem to be finding that balance between spending time among the three of them and spending time one-on-one...although god, if I were Toven and Faramir coming back and realizing everyone's in a panic looking for them, I'd be slightly mortified lol
"'We will go no further without our Lady Shieldmaiden.'" (omg *heart eyes*)
"'I get the feeling you've run off into the forest far more frequently than I have.'" (lol)
"'I want to find answers. I want to know the reason we are commanded to fight.'" (hell yeah! good for you, you grumpy fucker.)
when Quinn is all like "do you think we'll ever be friends" and Belekur's like "idk"...I think that's as close to a yes as we're going to get and I am HERE for it
"He wasn't sure how to say that a difference in status wasn't what worried him, but one look into Faramir's eyes confirmed the other man already understood." (I'm so glad Toven can share that with someone now. It's great that, along with his support system of family and friends, he also has an s/o who genuinely empathizes with his experience.)
Quinn wearing that fucking hat to distract from Toven was sweet and hilarious. Also, I am just ENAMORED with the way Eowyn reacts to Quinn, like she's always so down with whatever weird shit Quinn is putting out there, and I honestly could read an entire fic about Eowyn doing crazy shit with her mother-in-law while Toven shakes his head in the background and Faramir just tries his best to understand what the hell is even going on.
"Was there not room in the light for them, as well?" (ah, I love this..)
Well, this was a fantastic chapter, it was so sweet and happy and romantic. Maybe I'm a sap but I don't think I could ever get bored of reading about characters just...being in love. I'm excited to jump to the next chapter and see what these loose ends are, and how they are tied up!
2/14 c41 15Katia0203
Why would Faramir not be of high enough status to marry Eowyn? He's the Lord of Ithilien basically, and the brother of the Steward. *shrugs* I just want everyone to be happy! Her and Faramir get formally married and Toven can marry them 'informally'. They all live happily ever after in Ithilien; Toven can be one of Faramir's rangers!
I'll be sad to see this story end! Thanks for the update!

I can't handle all this fluff dammit, my teeth hurt but in a good way :') I can't believe it's almost the end!
2/7 c40 15Katia0203
I loved this chapter! So much fluffy goodness! I think someone needs to have a conversation with Eomer because he's being judgy as hell. I have experience in the relationship type, and it can be difficult but also rewarding. Curious to see what Quinn's future will bring.
Thanks for the update!

I’m so not ready for this to end lol I love them so much
2/4 c39 13drwatsonn
HELL FUCKIN YEAHHHHHH LETS GOOOOOOOOOO TOVEN GETS ALL THE BITCHES! wtf I love this chapter. And that little scene with Quinn and Pippin? Gold. Quinn telling that dude to fuck off? Iconic. We fucking stan.
2/2 c39 9themuse123
So I totally feel Toven when he's like "part of me still believes we're on the march to somewhere", because this whole chapter I had to remind myself that everything truly was alright and no more bad guys were going to pop out of nowhere to ruin the festivities (well, I mean, there was that transphobe asshole, but hopefully he fell down a hole or something).
Highlights:
MERRY. AND PIPPIN. PUTTING FLOWERS. IN QUINN'S ARMOR. I don't think I can put into words how much I love that holy crap
oh my lord the thought of Quinn as a jester. honestly, she missed her calling xD
fucking also, when Quinn's like "I think we did good" and Aragorn's like "I think we did" my heart damn near exploded, they need to co-parent more children together
Quinn really went "hi I'm Toven's other mom" like the truth didn't exist at all
when Quinn gave Toven the thumbs-up oh myXSPLTAPZ
"He looked like the medieval version of a frat bro." (I read "medieval frat bro" and all I could picture was a full-on knight body-slamming onto a beer pong table)
I love how Quinn says "I have no idea what's going on under there" about Gandalf's robes like this question keeps her up at night or something, like the possibilities haunt her dreams. Like there might be a dancing crab in there singing "hello my baby, hello my honey", or a gang of smaller wizards controlling everything he does with pulleys and levers, or maybe just, like, the Rick Astley music video on repeat.
Pippin and Quinn just straight up stealing Gandalf's stash like that lol
Quinn talking to the asshole at the end was great. It definitely would've been satisfying to see her punch him, but I totally understand why she didn't. Also, the line, "'I guess I shouldn't worry too much. If he's made it this far, he'll figure out the rest.'" was really nice. There was this distinct feeling of the proud parent watching the child leave the nest. Of course Quinn will never stop worrying and caring about Toven, but it's nice to see her finally let go a little and realize that he has to face the world and live his own life outside of her protection.
Oh man I really loved the scene between Toven and Eowyn at the end, and I am so excited to see them talk to Faramir. Pretty sure I expressed this before, but honestly, I am really glad the story went in this direction even though you didn't plan it. This was a wonderful, happy chapter and I'm eager to see what's in store in the next! :)
1/26 c38 themuse123
Yay, I love the happiness in this chapter! It's so nice to have our characters wake up in medical tents and not immediately have to be like 'oh, shit, better get healed up for an even BIGGER fight'. They finally get to plan for a future without some great E.V.I.L. on the horizon and I'm honestly so excited for all of them!
Highlights:
the scene at the beginning where Quinn is holding Toven while he cries is such a great parallel to the scene from two chapters ago, when Quinn finally properly addresses her own emotions. He's just as bad as she is about repressing what he's feeling, and I'm so glad Toven is able to have this kind of cathartic moment with her, instead of mourning her.
"He had a chance to be free and happy, and she would actually get the chance to watch it happen."
"'I don't know what that would look like. I wouldn't even know where to begin." (oof)
"'You look like you got hit by a car.'" (for most other people, that's usually just an offhand expression lol)
Toven feeling so at home in his Gondorian armor was truly uplifting, I'm so happy it seems he might've found a place (outside of Erebor and the Fellowship) where he feels accepted and embraced
Quinn finally figuring out that Legolas and Gimli are together was fantastic, her reaction is legit me when my otps finally seal the deal lol
So now that all the main fighting is over, I'm hoping Quinn will be able to hang up her weapons soon and find some actual peace. Plus I'm really curious to see what she will make of her life without constantly worrying about protecting everyone or getting called off by some ancient warrior magic, etc. I absolutely cannot wait to see Toven reunited with Faramir and Eowyn. And I'm just overall excited to see how all the loose ends tie up. Another great chapter, and I'm looking forward to the next! :)

So just one more chapter till the end? Bittersweet, but the story can't go on forever. I had hoped for a romance for Quinn, but I get that it didn't happen. Thanks for the update!
1/25 c37 Katia0203
Didn't get a chance to read this one till now. Great job with the battle; fighting descriptions are always challenging to get right, and you did a good job. I was able to mostly visualize what was happening, and I enjoyed where Toven stepped up and saved Quinn. He's such a great guy! Off to read chapter 38!
