This was all quite a read! I'd even say cinematic in that I could see so many of the aspects you used for the characters playing out in the movie.

The only thing throwing me off was the use of English names in an Ancient Chinese setting - then again Cool Kat's stories did that, too, and I enjoyed them too regardless, so who am I to judge?

And so the first story of the Erdan saga is complete. And it ends just where KFP 3 does: General Yu dead, along with the rest of his pack. Though now we see that Gerneral Yu intended to keep that drawing with him, but Shen took it being from Yu's first family, and burned it. Meanwhile, Erdan learns that his second father is now dead, and he is alone in the world once again. He heads out from Gongmen city to follow Yu's instructions, fulfill his last wishes.

The story as a whole was well written and handled the emotions well. Thanks again for having written it.

Now, Erdan 2 already exists, so any interested reader can find it and read the next story of the saga. For the sake of spoilers, I won't say more here.

I will be looking forward to Erdan Wolf Tales. I really want to see your interpretation of the characters that were created in Erdan 2, and see how life has been developing for the whole group since. I also eagerly await the release of Erdan 3. Until then, happy writing!

There's quite a bit to unpack in this chapter, a lot of which teases things from the sequel, Erdan 2, and a few that seem to be pointing towards the sequel Jeffwolf21 will be writing. Without giving too much away, it is good to see that General Yu has already started to rediscover his old skill with singing, even if it is in such a bittersweet manner.

Yu has finally been open and honest with himself and thinks of Erdan as his son. And due to the circumstances the only things he can do for him is give Erdan one last happy and carefree day before the endgame of Kung Fu Panda 2, and write a letter that will hopefully lead Erdan to a better life than the one he has given him so far. On the one hand it is beautiful to see a father's love be expressed in such a selfless and dedicated manner, on the other its so sad since it appears they will be separated permanently after this night.

Good job in capturing the emotions this sort of situation would have, and for weaving in references to works of the saga that didn't exist when the original was written. It speaks well of your skill as an author, and has me looking forward to your continuation of the Erdan saga.

And so the events of Kung Fu Panda 2 begin in earnest, and the death of General Yu at Shen's hands is coming. How will the events of the movie affect Erdan? I suppose we'll find out.

Thanks again for continuing the story. Can't wait to see how the story wraps up.

So now Erdan gets to return the favor...

We also get an insight into the thoughts and worries running through Yu's head. There are quite a few worries that start being important once you have a child, and Erdan just started to see himself as Yu's "son". How will this story end up? I guess we'll see.

These past few chapters have been great. I look forward to the rest.

A very nice fluff chapter, showing us the home life of Erdan and Yu. Sad that I know it won't last...

I had been starting to forget how this story went. It is good to see Yu and Erdan falling into their Father/Son relationship once again. It's very well written, and grabs your attention.

Since you said that you plan to continue the Erdan saga and write an Erdan 3, I'll just throw some of my thoughts out. I had forgotten that Erdan was actually spared from the massacre of his village by the (presumably) youngest member of the Mountain Lion Raiders. Now I can't help but wonder how things have been going for him. Is he still part of the Raiders? Has he spared other would-be victims? Does he have shame for the raids and attacks his group have been doing?

Since Erdan was last seen in Erdan 2 training to be member of the Warriors of the Jade Palace, it would be interesting to see Erdan and the young Mountain Lion Raider meet once again during a mission that Erdan's part of. Perhaps they would be able to patch things up and become acquaintances, eventually even friends. Or maybe they would have to much bad blood and other differences to ever make up. I'd like to see your take on the idea.

Of course, your plans for the sequel are yours, and I'll enjoy the sequel either way. I'm just throwing ideas out there.

I like your writing style. You have some very good narration. I shall try to find time to read more. :)

Well now, I remember reading the original Erdan story by Wolflover111 several years ago, and I moved on to reading the whole saga. I greatly enjoyed the story of Erdan, Zhong, and Shu, and also wanted to know what was next. I guess I'll finally get to find out with your stories. This remake of the original is going well so far, and I look forward to reading it again.
