Gah! I'm so, so late to the party (darn you, !) But what a wonderful and creative short story filled with such tragedy and heart! The second chapter explaining Virginia's home life had me feeling terribly for her as I anxiously read on asking myself "what's going to happen?" Then at the end, when she went back to Pembroke the realization sort of twisted my insides. What a horrible irony that she was killed by the very person that she was closest too, all because she was at the wrong place at the wrong time. James' reaction to her passing and his realization of what he's done is certainly worthy of tears. When he held the coffinthere are no words, just... awwwww! Then they both died praying. *my heart!*(My dog is currently crawling all over me, trying to comfort me, lol!) Although James in the movie had no real role other than the horrible mistake he made, your short story is a prime example of a fanfiction that turned him into one of my favorite characters. The ending was wonderful as well, how it created the full circle when Marigold gave Tristan the book. (OMG, the disney references!) She really is a wonderful mentor, and Tristan a wonderful student. But "Curly Fry"... he just fell in with the wrong crowd just like the original Wilkins. Lastly... thank you in return for following my stuff and fangirling with me. And don't worry, I'll give Wilkins any sort of food and drink he wants, as he really needs some good sustenance right now.

Hee hee, you have no idea how happy this is made me! Wilkins really needed some love to. The introduction is great, the glimpse into the life of the Casey's when Marigold and Giselle were teenagers is wonderful and it very effectively connected Virginia's story to the rest of the universe of original characters you've created. The relationship between Virginia and Wilkins was so sweet, they grew up together and hit it off since she was born really! Then when they got older their age gap really began to show, as he grew up faster and started to go away to fight. Her situation with her family and having to worry about the love of her life was heart wrenching, but their reunions made up for her missing him. Especially the last part of the chapternow it's clear why roses are important to the Stone family! She's going to be eager to get that red one for a while too!
