Just In
for Catholic Means Universal

You know when I first saw the title/desc of this fic I was worried. So many attempts to implement religion into fandoms is either poorly done, disrespectfully done or faces a lot of backlash. But you did it quite well and avoided the bible-thumping that so many others do.

I am a practicing Catholic so this version of Lance does stick with me, especially how he isn't going around rubbing his faith in, but when it comes up he isn't afraid to mention it.

I really liked the more down to earth way Lance explained how the apostles acted and felt during the Passion of Christ. the line, "Peter went to do recon" was pretty cool.

This is a great chapter. I can't emphasize enough how your love for God just steps -yes, steps!- off the page. Normally, I say leaps, but this is gentle, unpreaching (as alwaysand a conversation between friends. It's quite similar to how I explain Islam occassionally, the way Lance decribes it, that is...or did I say that already?

Anywho, great chapter. Can't wait to see more.

I really enjoyed reading this chapter.

I'm glad lance started as someone who really took the Faith for granted and thought it was a nuisance. As someone who also did this, it shows a great and realistic learning curve that can help anyone else.

Thank you for this, and I hope you continue it. You explained the doctrine pretty well, and I think that this is one of the best ways that I have learned theology. It's all so creative and makes me just want to hug Lance.

I'm so glad you updated. I was worried you gave up on this story. Pro-Catholic or not, I learned more about the beautiful side of Catholicism through this story. There is no dialogue in this story that says, "You're wrong and I'm right." Just a character's story who's way of life and love for God brings comfort to him during a time that tests his very being. Am I wrong?

Wonderful chapter! It's nice to find other people who don't believe that good science is intertwined with atheism. I've always loved the view that science is a way to explore, celebrate, and honour God's creation.

Any chance we might see Lance explore this with Allura or Coran? I think that would be really interesting.

Again, fantastic chapter!

I just want to say I absolutely adore this story with all my heart- you've shown the Catholic faith in a really beautiful way, and I really hope you continue this

As a Catholic, reading this is very surreal. O.o Like, nobody is writing bad things about the Church or mocking a Catholic character. Weeeird.

I love Lance. He's a good kid. I believe that he deserves respect, and I'm glad that you made him into the respectable man he is. At least, when his flirting and jokes don't get in the way.
Thank you for another great story!

As a Catholic myself I really, really appreciated this fic. You put such complex and difficult to describe topics on the Catechism into easily understood, emotionally moving pieces that drive the point home beautifully.
I do have a small recommendation for you, putting references people can look up with chapters like these would be a massive help to your audience who are not already educated in the Catholic faith. Just...avoid Wikipedia, it's not always accurate. Useful for when you're looking up fictional things like cartoons and anime, not so much for heavy topics like religions when ANYBODY can edit a page.
Cheers and happy writing!

I was close to crying reading this chapter. I must confess, I've stopped putting faith in religion, my own even, Islam, because of the way it is used to justify of people's stupidity and selfishness.

But this...this is beautiful. What I see is love... while I know he's a cartoon character, I feel Lance's love for those around him and his love for God...through him, and do forgive me if I'm wrong, I feel your love for God.

Someone dear to me was raised Catholic, and the ending to this chapter reminded me of her gentle words to love God unconditionally and to understand, Lance reminds me of her at this point and it dug up a part of me that I've forgotten. Thank you so much...you have no idea how much you helped me through this chapter.

Maristella sounds so pretty, but I never heard of a saint named Takashi before... Maybe I should look him up... Keep up the good work

Wow, you did a really great job on this! I am both Catholic and ADD, so I can relate two times as much! So far this story is really well-written and very relatable to anyone who grew up Catholic, and it is so rare to find a fan made (or published) work with an accurate representation of faith, as well as being as explanative as yours! Your word choice and grammar is great, and the mere premise of the story is thought-provoking. Thank you for writing this, and I look forward to finishing it!
