i know this was written about 10 years ago, but for what it's worth I really really like this. It's a great insight into the inner character of these people, and you write it masterfully.

I don't get that last part. Why is he imagining John yelling at him? Fun fact: John Adams' last words before dying were Thomas Jerrferson lives, ironically enough Thomas died the same day a few hours earlier... the date was July 4 too.

This is beautiful. I really hope you update soon, could you please write about Lee or Rutledge. Thank you for writing this.

This is beautiful. You use the echoes of song so cleverly, each time making a new meaning from old words. Never explain the meaning, because it's hidden in plain sight. This fanfiction is both superficial and deep. Well done, sir/ma'am. Please update.

I love his fic you've written! Please never lose your touch. You make even the *cough* least liked characters very human and relatable.

These are perfect character analysis! I appreciate that you did other research and didn't just go off the movie. And you are a great writer!

Not trying to be pushy, but... Please update soon! :D

AAAUGH! Why did you stop?! This is amazing - you've captured the different characters very well, each having their own voice and believability. If you're able, I really think you should continue with this. I, for one, would love to keep reading.

I almost fell over when I found this story. A year ago, I knew nothing about fanfiction (other than I wrote it myself, not really believing that others would ever want to read it). If someone had told me back then that there was 'fan fiction' for 1776, I wouldn't have believed it. And if they would have told me it was GOOD...I would have laughed in their face.
The joke, it appears, is on me.
This is quality stuff, my friend. You know the material, and your affection for it comes through in every line. You also construct pleasing sentences, weave sparkling narration/dialog, and deftly develop characterization. You take the source material, and do something new with it...yet retain all the 'truth' of the original piece. This is what ALL fan fiction should aspire to (and yet so very few come close to achieving). Well done. I will look for any other stories you have posted here. Keep writing...

I love that last one. The spin on the song lyrics was great. The deterioration of Thomas Jefferson is brilliant, especially since you get to see how sweet and shy and good-natured he is in the beginning, and how it turns when his wife dies.

I love that there are no bad guys. Just bad circumstances.

So, I really love these, especially Dickinson's chapter (though that may just be my epic love of Dickinson speaking). But your characterization is excellent and seems true to the individuals. You're especially good at making them seem so three-dimensional and human-illustrating both their positive and negative traits in a way that makes them relatable, sympathetic, and compelling in their own unique ways.

Also, I'd be very curious to your take on Wilson at some point down the road ;)

Man, if I thought the chapter on Adams was good, this one had me really thinking. Dickinson really is Caesar, isn't he? All the power-grabbing, vying for control, influence, and listening to his wife instead of doing what he wanted left him empty. He is the complete opposite of Adams; while Adams fights to the death for freedom at the cost of popularity, Dickinson craves attention so much he gives up his ideals. And all he gets in return is false friends... Gah, the feels _

Oh, poor John! He's only doing what he thinks is right, but he gets so much hate for it. The parts with his reminiscing about his friendship with Dickinson and the part where he wishes he could be a better man and he is hard on himself really got to me... ;_;
