for The Emperor's Party

This was a fantastic chapter. It really captured the ruthlessness of the minotaur society well, especially by showing a thin veneer of civility on top of it, i.e. the two minotaurs dancing and casually discussing the execution of a captain that they both knew. The civility and underlying savagery provided a really good contrast. I also liked the minotaurian 'polite gesture' of horns tilting away from an adversary to indicate a non-aggressive posture. That seemed very appropriate to their culture and their physique. It was interesting to hear the points of view of all the different minotaurs, and although it was hard to keep track of them all I think it seemed to create a kind of a cultural panorama. The ending worked well and was quite chilling when they talked about killing a guy that they had been having a polite conversation with just seconds ago. It would be interesting to see if they all succeeded in overthrowing the corrupt Emperor, Chot.

Your familiarity with the world of Krynn is evident, and I noticed that you had an "Emperor Kaziganthi" reference with regard to the statue; so I wondered it there was another book or story beyond "Land of the Minotaurs" where Kaz changes his mind about not wanting to be the Emperor?

Overall, this was a very intriguing read about the Minotaur culture.

A good first chapter-the tension at the Emperor's party builds up well, especially in the last paragraph. It's also interesting to have the ruler's drunken nephew narrate the story, although his boredom with the proceedings distracts the reader a bit from what's actually happening around him. Overall, though, it does create enough tension at the end to encourage the reader to want to read on to the next chapter.
I have been looking for another minotaur story after reading "Land of the Minotaurs" about Kaz, and so I am glad to have found this story.
