You might be surprised to find someone coming along 4yrs later and reading your story, but I did and I had to comment because it's absolutely perfect! I love the way you wrote both Sarah and Sky. This is my favourite musical and I'm so glad you wrote this scene to go with it!

This was amazing. I really enjoyed reading Sky and Sarah's make-up as well as their ride after the wedding. Their interactions are so spot on, you kept them in character and their religious tempered banter was amazing.
This was so beautiful.

I was assuming Sky WAS thinking about the Song of Solomon...but Proverbs 31 was definitely one of those AWWWWHHH moments.
Sarah is an innocent awakening, not just in terms of her awareness of sensuality, but in her coming to terms with the notion that life-and especially love-seldom falls into neatly, easily planned, patterns. Sky, of course, has been living life on the edge of hazard for years-it is good how he is coming to terms with the reality of his feelings faster, and helping Sarah see a broader vision. Sarah's suggestion that the two of them miss the plane to Havana was a good way to end this chapter-she doesn't need to be sentimental about replaying the little history they have; it's more important for her to look forward, and discover what's next, with the man she's found.
Of course this reviewer does worry about the fiscal and physical dangers of a gambler's life, but hey, this is Damien Runyon, fortunately, not Quentin Tarentino...
Once again, Ms. Greenleaf has thoughtfully explored the surprises of love and marriage when they bring together good girls who learn to be a little less good; and bad boys who are finally ready to be a little less bad.
Great chapter,

Can I please marry you?
Seriously, you managed to get Sarah's voice down so wonderfully that I can hear the lovely Jean Simmons saying those lines myself. I actually think Sarah's one of the harder characters to get down, because I feel like a lot of people just write her off as a silly Mission girl when she's SO much more. So first of all, thank you for that.
Watching Sarah and Sky together in their getaway honeymoon car was fun. They would definitely be that affectionate with each other, and the little betting game was really really cute. And Sarah made a valuable argument as to why they should wait for Havana; it's your wedding night, where you are isn't the big thing... it's enjoying your spouse's company. Also that line about Brannigan and the Detroits had me giggling.
Absolutely wonderful fic, and I hope you stick around in the Guys and Dolls fandom... especially
with fics like this :)

Aw, this is lovely! I really like the way you get into Sky's head, not just with his actual thoughts, but the way he mentally expresses them (thinking he's "been dealt a straight flush," not wanting to "show his cards too early," and the needle in the haystack metaphor). It's very reall. I also agree with your interpretation of Sarah changing and realizing she needs to accept him as he is. Very lovely!
One teeny thing: you keep describing Sarah's voice as "dusky" when I think you meant "husky." ("Dusky" means "dark in color"; "husky" means "a semi-whispered or somewhat hoarse voice").

OH. MY. GOD.
This is absolutely perfect and I'm dying over here with my feelings and I can't form words because I'm so happy :D Sky/Sarah is my OTP so well written fanfiction of them is always okay. And the needle in the haystack comparison was perfect and the thing about Sky saying the comfort of hay was better than the prick of a needle was so Sky it almost hurt. And Sarah is my favorite character so I can't wait to see the next chapter! Fav and follow :)
Also, silly observation - it seems like everyone I've met who likes Music Man ends up liking Guys and Dolls too! I guess they really click together.

Having Ms. Greenleaf take on this amazing couple-in some ways not unlike Harold Hill and his Maid Marian-is positively a dream come true...this reviewer also remembers the terrific chemistry between Marlon Brando and Jean Simmons in the movie..and no stage version she's ever seen has rivaled it.
Particularly good here was Sky's memories of his father's needle-in-a-haystack analogy; Sky's memories of the seduction of Havana; and his characterization of marriage as the biggest gamble of all.
How wonderful that with a shake of the dice, and a toss, Ms. Greenleaf has added this couple to the pantheon of her imagination! And all her reader's are the lucky winners!
Hugely looking forward to the next chapter,
