Evey panted with exhaustion, sweat dripping off her forehead, clutching her side as her and V finished their second training session that week.

After the film night last week (it felt more like a life time ago to her), they had discussed her possible role in V's plans and what she could do to help. V had promptly decided that if she was serious about this, about helping him with his revolution then he had to adequately train her.

This involved a number of things, firstly they had begun with her physical training. Whilst Evey was young and healthy, she was unfit. She knew this and so did V, if Evey had to make a run for it then she wouldn't last long. Her physical training began with her waking up at 6am to have a healthy breakfast, usually of scrambled egg on toast or porridge, she then moved onto warm up followed by a run in the gym.

This was one of the many wonders that V had kept in the Shadow Gallery, a make shift gym and track. It was a very large long room which previously was a control room, he had told her. In there he had managed to acquire a vast amount of weaponry, dummies and so on to practice and train with. However now Evey was here, he had the opportunity to fight a real person, once she was trained. After her run, she would have a break and then V would show her how to fight. They sparred for hours on end until Evey was exhausted and bruised but for the first time in her life she really felt she had a purpose, a goal she so desperately wanted to achieve.

V began putting the equipment back into place, barely having broken a sweat during any of their sessions. As he worked methodically he spoke to Evey "Well done today Evey, you are progressing splendidly. Tomorrow I think we should start learning some Judo, it's an excellent defensive martial art, one that will one day serve you well".

Evey smiled as she wiped her forehead with a hand towel, she was pleased her hard work wasn't going unnoticed however the idea of doing martial art had left her slightly nervous, she had seen it when she was younger, it usually involved lots of close contact.

V turned back round to her when she was done, noting the red in her cheeks as she sat on one of the benches.

He smiled beneath his mask "I believe a well-deserved lunch is in order?"

Evey grinned back as her response, everything he cooked was amazing so it was a good reward for a hard morning's work.

As they walked back to the kitchen in comfortable silence, Evey was mulling over just how far this was all going to take her. He had told her his plan was to ultimately bring down Norsefire and the corrupt government, she couldn't help but fear the reality. Could it really be done?

V was an incredible enigma, he was a fighter, an intellect, a great cook and he seemed to have extraordinary abilities Evey didn't think could exist. She felt very tender towards the mystery man however she barely knew anything about him, what he even looked like or his real name…

She was too afraid to ask.

Not because he frightened her but because she didn't want him to shut her out. Evey got the impression that he would have shared this information with her if he wanted too. He never took his mask off. He ate separately to her and locked his room at night, she heard the heavy thud of the key in his door as she went to her own room.

These thoughts often kept her up at night, she had become very attached to him in a short space of time. Maybe because he was now her whole world, her sole focus, her only companion.

However it was his world she had invaded, so for now she would keep imagining the answers to her questions until the time came she found out the truth about V.

"Penny for your thoughts?" V mused at Evey as she started blankly into space across the kitchen table.

Evey jolted out of her day dream "No! Sorry V, just thinking about a few things…" she lightly trailed off.

As V began cutting vegetables he replied "Is there anything bothering you, dear Evey?" she heard the slight hint of concern in his rich voice.

She shook her head to herself and slightly smiled "No V, I'm just thinking about the future, the possibilities, etc etc".

V turned slightly to look at her "Well if there's anything specific you are concerned about please feel as If you can speak with me."

"I know V, I'm just…" Evey looked down at her hands on table as she spoke, drawing V's full attention.

"Evey?" He questioned as he sat down opposite her, vegetables abandoned on the work surface.

Evey suddenly looked deep into where his eyes were hidden by the mask and replied with a tremble of fear "I'm just worried I won't be good enough to do this with you, help the revolution. I'm scared that I'm going to mess it up for you and your hard work will have been for nothing." As she ended her sentence she once again focused intently on her hands.

V looked at the young woman, whose beauty was unmatched by many and her personality graceful and interesting. He gently grabbed one of her hands with his gloved one, forcing her to look back at him.

"Why Evey, I am honoured that you have chosen me to complete this revolution with. I cannot imagine it happening without you. I have no concerns of failure as I know you won't allow it for yourself, you are strong Evey. So much stronger than you can even imagine." And with that V gently kissed her hand through his mask, realising that he now couldn't imagine his life without her.
