The End.

11:20pm all the doors in the ward suddenly becoming unlocked, springing to life and opening, followed by the sounds of many shuffling feet and quiet voices as the inmates quickly left their cells and waited for the lights to suddenly switch off, as well as the cameras.

Once the lights flickered off, it was time. The shuffling continued as well as the voices, as they initiated their escape plan and put everything into action.

Of course, everything was going to down without a hitch. There would be no problems. None. Zip.

Well, at least, that's what they thought was going to happen.

"Ow, quit pushing!"

"I'm not pushing, you're moving too slowly!"

"I can't see!"

"No kidding, Harl."

"Zip it Eddie!"

"This was your stupid idea!"

"It was all of our's ideas!"

"Will ya'll shaddup!"

The group fell silent before a few giggles could be heard in the darkness.

Jonathan Crane narrowed his eyes to the vague outlines in the dark. "Alright, quit it, it ain't that funny!" he hissed in a whisper.

Edward chuckled. "You can't hear yourself, oh 'great god of fear'."

"Would you like me to book an appointment?"

"Will ya both shut it, we're almost there, look!" Garfield cried as he pointed to the vague outline of the elevator shaft.

Their eyes brightened and quickly the shuffling turned into running as they reached out to grab the sides, before the guys began to open the elevators, with the girls keeping watch.

"Hurry it up, you guys!" Harley urged.

"Yeah, you try doing this Quinn," Firefly grit out as he strained against the doors, Kirk stood on the side lines and watched with a raised eyebrow as Edward, Jonathan, Garfield, Drury and Two Face began to pull on the doors to get them to open.

"Nigma, how long do we have to wait for the power to come back on?"

"Uhh… we have about…" he strained against the doors. "15 minutes from our cells to here, they should come back on any second."

Just then the lights sprung to life once more, allowing one of the security doors to open, with Rat Catcher, Mad Hatter and Anarky on the other side, carrying three bags. Anarky quickly climbed up to the camera, getting some spray paint out of the bag and spraying the camera lens black.

"Okay there we go," he cried as he hopped down, opening the bag to put the spray paint in before opening it up to the others. "We got as much of everyone's stuff as we could carry in the three bags. How's the elevator coming?"

"Almost got- ah!" the small group of men fell inside as the doors opened and they tumbled inside, staring in confusion. "Got it," Edward finished.

"Where's Freezy?"

"Already down there, Harley, with Waylon, we discussed this!" Edward cried, before Jonathan clasped a hand around his mouth and glared at him.

"Dear me dormouse you really should be more quiet," Jervis commented as he shook his head, gaining a glare from Edward, before the Riddler licked Jonathan's hand.

"Ah!" Jonathan tore his hand away and glared at Edward, who was grinning as him. "That was disgusting!" he snarled as he shook his hand before turning to Drury and whipping it against his jumpsuit. "And I've seen a man scratch his own eyes out."

Drury winced and looked like he was going to gag, making Garfield frown in slight dissapointment before he hooked a thumbs at Drury. "Yeah, guys remember to keep it PG rating, there are children around."

"I am not a child!"

"Coulda' fooled us," Otis mumbled.

"We need to leave," Two Face growled as he got in the elevator, turning to the others, the constant scowl looked like it was almost daring them not to agree with him.

They nodded and quickly walked inside, somehow managing to fit all of them in without any problem. Somehow.

Harley looked over and pressed the button on elevator, before she was grinning. "Home free! Wanna celebrate Red?"

Ivy raised an eyebrow at her. "I'll celebrate once we're out of Arkham, Harl."

"Agreed," Jonathan piped up from somewhere behind her.

Kirk shuffled nervously. "I'm still not sure about this," he mumbled, rubbing at his arm. "I mean… we're not going to hurt anyone are we?"

"Of course not," Drury grinned. "We won't hurt anyone!"

"This time," Shark muttered behind him, a glare was suddenly casted at him from the Moth. Shark only replied a toothy grin.

"You're not helping," Drury gestured to Kirk.

"I don't intend to. This is all grunt work. I'm more of a… books kinda a guy."

"You going to change your name to the 'book shark' or something?" Lonnie smirked at him and the glare that was directed.

"Yeah and hey what the hell ya mean grunt work?!" Garfield growled. "We have to do this all the time when we escaped before!"

Shark raised a would be eyebrow. "Get in a packed elevator with sweaty inmates?"

"When you put it like that it sounds weird."

"You ever wonder why that was?"

"Oh for the love of.. enough!" Edward rubbed at his temples. "I'm trying to remember the code for Waylon's door and you're not helping. I need quiet."

Otis looked up at the creaking noises of the machinery that enabled the elevator to work. "You sure picked a hell of a time to do it."

"Yes thank you, for pointing out the obvious!"

"I'm pretty certain you're the one making the most noise, Riddles," Harley piped up. "Besides, if all else fails we've always got Freezy's gun!" she paused and glanced over at the suddenly scared faces of Lonnie, Jervis and Otis. "Right guys…?" they glanced at her, then at the others who were now also narrowing their eyes.

"You did remember to get it, didn't you?" Harvey challenged.

"Ya know…" Lonnie began before swallowing awkwardly. "Umm… that Freeze's gun is technically… Gothcorp technology… so… that's umm, an evil, evil corporation that really only ruins lives and-."

"You forgot it didn't you," Jonathan deadpanned.

"Yes, yes we did," Lonnie nodded, bowing his head.

"Oh my," Jervis mumbled, putting a hand to his chin. "I knew we'd forgotten something."

"Yeah umm, Nigma," Otis glanced over at the Riddler. "You may wanna… ya know.. remember-"

"Remember the security codes for Waylon's door? Would it be that, by any chance?"

"Yeah…"

Suddenly the elevator came to a stop.

"Finally," Harley grinned. "Home fre-ee?" she tilted her head to the side, biting her lip and staring as were the others at the scene before them.

Guards. So many guards. This was the guard's room. They were on the level of the guard's room.

No one moved, neither guards nor inmates, they just stood still and stared at each other.

"So much for this plan going without a hitch…" Garfield mumbled.

"Harley," Edward hiss. "Push the button."

Harley had already, meanwhile, reached up and was pushing the button rapidly as she continued to stare ahead of her. "I am pushing the button she hissed back, her finger moving at break neck speed.

It was as if that had woken the guards from whatever stupor they'd been in and they began to cautiously walk forwards. They knew from past exspecience how dangerous these rogues could be, hell even Kirk was dangerous when he wanted to be.

"Child," Jonathan muttered, his voice reaching an octave slightly higher. "Push the button."

"Harley.."

"Harls.."

"I am pushing the button it's not doing anything!"

Edward glanced over, before looking back at the guards. "Try pushing the right one!"

"I am pushing the right one ya overgrown leprahcorn-" she looked back at the panel and blushed, slightly before giggling slightly. "Oops, silly me," she giggled before pressing the other button, just as the guards rushed at them, the doors closed and the elevator began to move again.

A resounding sound of breath being realesed from many lungs was all that could be heard as the elevator moved.

"Well, we're home free!" Harley cried again, gaining a glare from the others. "What?" she waved them off. "It could've happened to anyone."

"All you had to do was push the button for the basement, how hard is that!?"Edward yelled.

"I already said I was sorry, geeze!" she folded her arms and rolled her eyes, cocking her hip out to the side. "It's not like anyone died!"

"Someone almost did," Ivy growled, narrowing her eyes at Harley.

"What's got you so grumpy, Red?" she narrowed her eyes before looking sympathetic. "That time of month again?"

"You little-"

"Ya wanna know what helps me? Hot water bottle!" Harley clasped her hands together. "Yeah a good old hot water bottle really helps when the cramps set in."

"Hello," Garfield rose his hand. "Men in the room."

"Oh shush, it's only nature," Harley waved them off. "If it didn't happen, you wouldn't be here."

"At this current moment in time I wouldn't have a problem with that."

Harley ignored him and continued to talk to Ivy. "But yeah, Red, use a hot water bottle."

"Oh sure, Harley. Let me just grab the one I prepared earlier," Ivy replied sarcastically. "I'm sure it'll solve all my problems."

"Oh so it is that!"

"No!"

That's when everything decided to go horribly wrong again. The elevator came to a sudden stop, the lights flickering, until only the safety lights and back up lights came on.

"What's happened?" Kirk questioned, staring up at the lights as the other frowned in annoyance. They knew. From many experience of escaping and fleeing, they knew exactly what had happened.

"They've switched the elevator off," Edward mumbled, "someone's going to have to go up there and pull the lever that will release it. Safety mechanism they built into it. For what point or purpose no one really knows."

"Are you nuts?!" Garfield cried waving his arms around. "We don't know how high we are, that could kill us!"

"Oh ya need ta live a little, Sparky," Harley shrugged slightly as Garfield stared at her incredulously.

"Live a little?! We'll be dead!"

"We're not that high."

"We will still be very dead!"

"We'll be fine," Jonathan grunted. "What's wrong? Are you scared?"

Garfield glared. "Ya know usually if that question came from you, I would not answer, today I don't give a damn! Yes, yes I am scared!"

"But.. don't you fly around all day in a jet pack?" Kirk raised an eyebrow in question, causing a glare to be cast his way, of which he shrunk back from.

"Yes I do. But that's flying not falling to my death!"

"Well, at least look on the bright side," Shark muttered.

"Bright side?! There is no bright side?!"

"Sure there is," he continued. "It would be quick."

Garfield rolled his eyes. "Oh gee, yeah sure Shark that's great! I'll just be a splat on the ground!"

Harley grinned. "Ya'll look like a bug on a windshield!"

"Or street pizza," Edward piped up.

"Not helping!"

Lonnie turned to give the burnt man a glare. "You really are a coward aren't you?"

Garfield smiled sarcastically, nodding his head with enthusiasm.

Anarky rolled his eyes before looking up at the hatch. "Well, who's gonna go up there and pull it?"

Everyone fell silent before turning to look at Jonathan.

The Scarecrow blinked and looked back before narrowing his eyes. "No."

"Come on, Professa'!"

"I said no, Harleen."

"Jonathan you're the only one who will fit through the hatch," Edward argued as he gestured up to the ceiling.

Jonathan studied it with scrutiny. "You can fit through it too."

"Yes, but I'm needed for other things the rest of the way, you, however, are not," Edward shrugged, "Basically, I'm important, you are not."

"Wow, Edward. You really know how to sell a man on an idea, don't you?"

"Worked with the thugs."

"Do I look like an imbecile to you!?"

"No… no, but you do look like someone who could very well fit through that hatch right there."

Jonathan narrowed his eyes and folded his arms. "Forget it, it's not happening."

"Come on, Crane!" Garfield cried. "Get ya' boney butt up there!"

"You go up there!"

"Ya owe us!"

"What could I possibly owe any of-"

"HALLOWEEN!"

There was silence as Jonathan bit his lip before suddenly gesturing to his leg. "I have a bad leg."

"We're all mentally ill," Harley smiled at him as did the others.

"So am I," Jonathan growled harshly before he was suddenly grabbed by Ivy and pulled forward so he was virtually nose to nose.

"Listen here, you bag of straw!" she snarled. "You're going up there," she pointed to the hatch. "Or so help me I will unleash the full wrath of mother nature upon you!"

"In a cell? I'd like to see you try."

"I'd like to see you last a month if you mess this up," Two Face snarled.

Jonathan sighed and considered his options.. of which he had none.

Another sigh left him as the man known as the Scarecrow climbed up and out of the hatch, reaching for the lever, as half of him still rested in the elevator, Edward and Two Face supported his weight as Jonathan reached over for the lever.

Harley giggled as an idea popped into her head, one that Ivy seemed to be aware of because she narrowed her eyes at her. "Harley don't…" Ivy warned.

Harley smirked at her before raising her hand dramatically. "Pull the lever, Kronk!"

Above Scarecrow rolled his eyes and reached over, giving the lever a few tugs, just to try and loosen it a bit so the lift would move safely, unfortunately he tugged to hard and the lever became completely undone.

There was one horrible brief moment of slow motion as he realised what he'd done and his eyes widened. "Oh no."

Meanwhile the guards were congratulating themselves on actually stopping the criminals, looking down the elevator shaft at the lift in the distance, before they began to move away for their prize. Only to stop short as they heard an almighty bang followed by a whoosh and the sounds of screaming accompanied by the sentence "WRONG LEVERRRRRRRRRRR!"

Meanwhile on the elevator of screaming death, Jonathan was desperately trying to reach the lever, as the air rushed past him, he grit his teeth and reached over, gripping it, before he pulled the breaks taught again and the elevator came to a sudden stop, with him slamming into the roof and the others fell to the floor.

Slowly the bodies in the elevator began to move and sit up accompanied by groans and noise of complaints.

Edward rubbed his head and glared up at the ceiling slightly. "Why do they even have that lever?"

"Ahh, damn it, Eddie!" Harley whined. "Ya stole my line!"

Edward gave her a confused and bewildered look. "What?"

Before it could grow into an argument, the doors were opened and Mister Freeze stared back at them as he tilted his head to the side. His head was the only thing you could see since that was were the elevator reached.

"What happened?"

"It's a long story," Two Face groaned as he walked towards Freeze. "Move. I'm never going in an elevator again."

Freeze didn't question him as he allowed him and others to get out.

"Is this everyone?" he asked.

"Yeah," Harley nodded, "Me, Eddie, Otis, Ivy, Drury, Kirk, Two Face, Jervis, Garfield, Lonnie, Sharky," a yelp sounded from the elevator as Jonathan dropped to the floor and didn't land. Harley casually glanced over before pointing. "Jonathan."

Freeze nodded and turned to join the others as Edward began to type in code, Jonathan trailing behind them, once the door was open. He had no desire to be down here, but he supposed he had to pay a little before he escaped.

You only ever get what you want once you've marched through the pain.

Inside, Croc was already waiting for them, standing waist deep in the water, offering a hand out to them, allowing a few to climb onto his shoulders as he walked over to the far side, where he dropped them off as Edward began to work on the other door into the corridor that lead to the old foundations. He hissed slightly when he had to carry Crane, much to the doctor's discomfort.

Once everyone was across and Edward had opened the door, Croc got out, shaky off the water, following the others, his steps echoed off the walls as he followed them, the ground also slightly shook.

They reached the door for the ruins and opened it, staring at them, they still looked like they were going to topple at any moment and Ivy's plant's at the Arkham riot hand't helped matters.

"Umm…" Otis tilted his head. "What was the plan for this bit again?"

"We're going to have to climb," Edward mumbled as he walked to the edge and judged the gap.

"Climb?!" Garfield cried. "How can you say that so casually? Look how high that is!"

Edward shrugged. "It's not that bad. I've climbed it before when I was hiding the trophies I'd made for Batman."

"Yeah and I'm the Queen of England!" Garfield rolled his eyes. "You couldn't climb that, ya a nerd!"

"Just because I solve simple equations does not mean I cannot climb," he growled. "And that is very stereotypical I might add!"

"Add it all ya like, it's true."

Edward rolled his eyes and quickly jumped the gap, before he shuffled around a wall and jumped the next gap, turning to the others and glaring at their shocked faces.

"The surprise on your faces is extremely insulting."

"But, Riddles," Harley began, opening and closing her mouth like a fish before waving her arms out in front of her. "It's you!"

He sighed and gestured for them to follow, walking across a fallen pillar, before jumping onto the next bit of rock.

After some persuasion and many curses later, they'd all managed to make it to the top, walking towards the exit, the last door they'd need to open before they were home free. Of course, it didn't go to plan, plans like this rarely ever do. The guards had spotted them, they'd been ready it seemed.

It caused the rogues to run around a little like turkeys before Edward directed them to Dead Man's point, which they all made a mad dash for, before they finally realised exactly where they were.

"What are we doing here, they've got us pinned!" Garfield wailed.

Edward and Jonathan looked over the edge, Two Face soon joined them and seemed to make up his mind at the sound of foot steps approaching, jumped off the edge leaving everyone else to stare with open mouths.

"He's right," Jonathan mumbled. "We have to jump."

Edward's head whipped round so fast it should've fallen off. "What?!" he squeaked.

"Jump," Jonathan said again and grabbed his shoulders pushing him off, before he followed after.

Harley giggled and grabbed Ivy's hand. "Come on, Red this is going to be awesome!"

Meanwhile Garfield was grabbing at his head and staring in shock. "Are you nuts?! It's called 'dead man's point' for a reason!"

"Oh live a little, Sparky!" Harley called over her shoulder as she and Ivy jumped, following the others down.

Jervis clutched his hat and pinched his nose, before he squeezed his eyes shut and jumped off, with Otis quickly following behind him.

"God bless my little broken body," Otis muttered as he leapt, the sound of the guards were getting closer as they tried to navigate the small cavern in their chunky body armour.

"Everyone's nuts!" Garfield yelled, Shark merely shrugged at him."Eh, Sharks can swim," he shrugged, before jumping off.

"You're not a real shark!" Garfield yelled after him, as he jumped off.

Freeze sighed. "If I die, at least I will be with my Nora," he mumbled, before jumping off, Croc looked back at Kirk, Drury and Garfield shrugging at them before he too jumped.

Kirk sighed. "Well I always wanted to go diving," he shrugged and leapt off the edge.

Garfield shook his head. "No, nope, nope!" he stared over the edge and looked back at Drury. "No, I'd rather die."

Drury grinned. "You jump off that you'll die, so problem solved!"

"I hate you."

They both turned at the sound of feet, Anarky quickly pushed past them and leapt from the edge, Garfield followed his fall with his eyes and winced when he hit the water.

"You're going to hate me even more," Drury muttered.

"What?"

He smiled and quickly pushed him off before following after him and the many insults that were fired his way before screaming back at Garfield. "Totally worth it!"

Garfield would later deny ever screaming like a girl.

The guards stared on, they'd only just managed to see Drury leap, before they peered over the edge, the waves were particularly harsh that night, there didn't seem to be any signs of life, no one had come up to the surface either.

The police were called, naturally they had to be. The incident was all over the news, describing the daring escape attempt and current search.

They searched for days, no bodies were recovered, the only evidence they were able to find was a torn up scrap of an Arkham jumpsuit with the name 'Kirk' stitched into the fabric.

After a month of no activity and no bodies found, the criminals that tried to escape were declared dead. The case was closed for many but Aaron Cash still kept an eye out for any usual crimes, of course he had his hands full with the new brand of crazy which were the protogés that were now running the show, but still no sign of the adults. The one thing that never sat well with Cash was how Mist was acting. She was calm, she wasn't even upset at the apparent death of her 'lover' she wasn't upset at all.

Many chalked it up to maybe she'd moved on, but Cash knew better. The case was still open for him, he knew they were out there.

It had been two months and still no sign, Aaron was verging on maybe giving up and accepting they'd died in their final escape attempt, many of them were reaching or had already reached their 40s by this point, some were even pushing into their 50s and that jump would've been difficult to survive even in their peek.

It was then, he decided as he was in the queue for his local coffee stop on his way to work, that maybe he should just let go and accept it. They'd died.

"One pumpkin spice, latte, frappchino, tea and iced tea to go please."

Cash's head whipped up towards the end of the queue. He knew that voice. He knew that voice anywhere. He'd heard it multiple times mocking him weather in Arkham or in Arkham city, he knew that voice.

He tried to look over to the front of the queue, but whoever was in front of him was extremely tall and… and long limbed…

His mouth fell open. No, no it couldn't be.

In front of him, in front of him stood a tall skinny guy, a bubbly blonde woman, a tall red head, a small blonde man and a glasses wearing smartly dressed blue eyed individual.

He watched as the man in glasses paid the cashier and handed everyone their drinks, before they wandered towards the door.

"C-Crane?" he was able to choke out, watching as the group stopped and turned to look at him.

Aaron's eyes widened. Oh. My. God.

Edward Nigma, Jonathan Crane, Jervis Tetch, Pamela Isley and Harleen Quinzel turned to look at him and smiled.

Edward had the audacity to wave. "Morning, Officer Cash," he called. "Lovely weather isn't it, you have a good day!"

They turned their backs on him and walked out. They walked out.

He followed them with his eyes as they walked down the street, laughing and chatting like.. like ordinary people, before they stopped for a moment, it looked like Edward was sorting out his laces as citizens walked past them and no one else recognised them! He supposed without the costumes you wouldn't.

He should call this in. He should radio ahead, call the police, hell ring up Gordon the new Mayor and tell him, but it seemed he had frozen out of shock.

"Umm, excuse me, Sir?" he turned towards the cashier who was tilting his head to the side to try and gain Aaron's attention. He gestured behind Aaron. "You're holding up the line."

Aaron blinked before looking back to where the five rogue's had been.

They were gone.

THE END.
