Chapter 7

The Fate

He was tired and confused. His eternity was already complicated. Why did his sister come with such a request? He wasn't a mentor. He was the Lord of the Underworld! But, he couldn't say no when he saw the pain and worry in his sister's eyes. What exactly was going on with this Goddess? He tried to remember her. She was a child playing with Hermes on Olympus garden the last time he saw her. Nothing spectacular. Green eyes, black hair and a fragile body. A child. What could she do in the Underworld?

As he was having all this thoughts while entering the Great Hall of Olympus he bumped into one of his brothers

'Hades! Finally! I almost wanted to send Hermes to get you here!'

'Zeus, where do you find this much energy and so much wine?' he said as he was raising a cup of it to drink.

'Dear brother, you need to relax from once in a while…you know…a nymph here and there…' Zeus winked as he was glancing around the room.

'It is a wonder that you still have your most precious items attach. One of these days I am sure Hera will transform you into one of her temple priests...' Hades was laughing thinking about that scene.

'Well, at least I am not suffering after a certain nymph!' Zeus was throwing him a questionable look 'Come on brother, you need to find something better at least. Look around. The palace is full!'

And Hades was really looking. He could see his brothers and sisters, a few Titans including his mother and other divine creatures enjoying the party. Nothing new, nothing intriguing. For him, after his last encounter with Minthe all the nymphs were the same. He wanted to enjoy this party like he did when he was younger. It was no secret that from the three of them Zeus always had the most fun, but Hades and Poseidon were not far from it. He just wanted to keep things more civil, he enjoyed a good talk and maybe not such a public display of affection. Zeus married Hera and Poseidon married Amphitrie. While Poseidon was a bit more faithful, not the same can be said about his brother. For that reason Hades avoided marriage. He was afraid to became part of daily marriage fights. He enjoyed being alone. That was his destiny and he was at peace with that. Until, one day Minthe had other ideas. She craved more, she wanted a title and he almost gave in. He was ready to propose. But it wasn't meant to be. So for tonight, maybe for once in all eternity he didn't want to know the name, the dreams and the fears of anyone. He just wanted to be with someone. And maybe his wishes were about to became true. He saw the most beautiful creature dancing. She was definitely not a nymph. She had a sea a of black hair and a contagious smile on her face. She was truly glorious. Prettier than Aphrodite he could hear from the corners of the hall, and they were absolutely right.

'Brother who is…' he stopped. He didn't want to know her name and Zeus was too focused in his conversation with Poseidon to hear him. His eyes were searching for her again but she was gone. He wanted to go and look for her but he was stopped by Poseidon.

'Brother! Come on! Drink with us! It's been a while since the three of us were together!'

Hades couldn't say no. It was true, lately he avoided crowds and meetings. He just hoped he would still find her later.

And later didn't take long since Ares spiked the drinks. A much more dizzier Hades was on his way to find the beautiful creature. He was out from the main hall almost near the relic room when he felt an earthquake. The entire building was moving and he stood by a nearby wall to gain back his balance.

Everybody could feel the earthquake. It was an unusual thing to happen on Mt Olympus. The marble lions and eagles from the entrance doubled in sized and came to life protecting the palace for whatever was about to come. It didn't take long until dark smoke filled the room and from it appeared the three famous sisters: Moirai, the Fates! All the semi drunk Gods and Goddesses were prepared for a fight until they saw them. Hera stepped forward and asked

'Moirai, you are always welcomed on Mt. Olympus but what is the meaning of this?'

We know we are, but there is someone who isn't. They spoke in unison.

'What do you mean?' Athena interfered.

The gates are weaken and He knows

The chosen one is sat on throne

The powers are beyond your kind

Prepare dear Gods for what's to come

As light will transform into dark

And a new empire will be brought to life

And they were gone. Everyone was looking terrified. Who is He? And the chosen one? What was the meaning of this?

'Everybody go! Guard the temples and check every bit of land, sky and sea for unusual activity! Anything you find will be reported back to me! We need to find the meaning of all of this!' Zeus shouted. Hera was by his side. She didn't see him so alert since the war, but then again it is not often that the Fates show themselves with such premonitions.

On another side of the palace a dizzy Hades believed he had too much wine.

'When I get my hands on Ares I will show him the fast way to the Underworld…what kind of wine was that…the room was moving with me..'

As he regained his posture he saw a bright light coming from the relic room for a few seconds and then a feminine figure emerging from it trying equally as hard as him to regain her posture.

'Ouch! Why does my head hurt so much?' the effect of the wine was slowly disappearing but it was still there. Persephone started to regret attending this party. It was no fun and Hermes left her alone. She felt two hands helping her to get back on her feet. She looked up and saw two blue eyes watching her. They were warm and almost glistening in that dim light. The smile, the blonde hair, the muscular body…maybe the night wasn't lost. Like she told Hermes she was already as good as punished.

'Hey stranger..' she smiled

He smiled back. Yes, the night was definitely not lost yet.
