Three weeks have past since I started living in Cliffden Castle and I agreed to become the protege to Roselle Nightingale.

I lay in the bed but I'm not alone, as the morning light peaks in through the window the feeling grows luckily I'm not ill-prepaed. I reach for the side of my bed to counteract the would be strike.

"You're reaction time is still slow."

Vladislav Székely, Roselle's retainer and from what I can tell father figure. He's a man of five feet and eight inches with short, blonde hair and wintery gray eyes, he was wearing a suit with black slacks, a poet blouse,a blue vest with a diamond pattern on it and a lapis lazuli gem on his blue cravat. His demeanor is pretty goofy but I know can tell he knows when to turn it off and help Roselle which explains why he's helping train me by trying to get me by way of sneak attacks. Personally I have no idea if Roselle wanted him to help or he took it upon himself to help in that way, personally I wouldn't doubt either option.

He looked at me with that goofy grin I've grown accustomed to since I started staying at cliffden castle.

"You're still off by 2.5 seconds, what if I was an enemy?"

"I knew you were there, I've known since 3AM."

"Be that as it may you can't just wait for an enemy to be in your area and strike."

"They don't wait in my room for hours, usually they strike first."

I got up out of my bed and saw the Irish sunrise, it's still as beautiful as always. I checked my phone to see my regular good morning text from Carol greeting me.

"I hope your training is going well can't wait to see you soon sweetie love, Carol."

"I love you too Carol, I'll call you when I finish training with Roselle tonight love, William."

With that reply I got ready for the day,I can't help but take in my surroundings this place resembles what it looked like back in the day, while the outside still looked decrepit. I put on my combat uniform for training and joined Roselle at the dining room to eat breakfast. I didn't notice this at first but she always wears elbow length gloves even at the table while eating. Granted while eating she wears silk gloves and leather gloves while training me.

I greeted her with a smile and a polite british greeting.

"Good morning, lovely day Miss Roselle."

"Where was he this time."

Of course she knew I was awoken by another sneak attack and no point in lying about it.

"On the ceiling, he was there since 3AM."

Roselle took a sip of the tea in front of her, from the look of it probably concealing a look of embarrassment. I decided not to press any further and make myself some breakfast, nothing special it was a couple of eggs and a couple of slices of bacon. Roselle looked at me preparing my food for the morning.

"I find it interesting you know how to cook."

"Oh yeah I was taught as a hobby by Margaret and Seras well more specifically Seras familiar Pip I have plenty of their recipes memorized to a tee."

"That's a good skill to have young Hellsing."

As I set my meal on a plate the thought occurred I never formally thanked Roselle. Not for saving me and not for training me, what kind of Brit am I where I forgot my manners?! Well I can fix that right now.

"Maybe some night I can make you a dish as a thank you for all you've done for me, it's the least I could do as a thank you."

"I'd like that, William."

"It'll have to be one of Margaret's recipes though, the recipes Pip taught me are more suited towards Carol."

When I sat down I got my blood ready for the day I suddenly found myself tackled on the ground due to Roselle which was oddly out of character for the calm and collected dhampir.

"Sorry for the abrupt attack, William you were about to make a mistake."

"Which would be?"

"Your blood intake, you're ingesting too much."

"Oh?"

"We're not like regular vampires we don't need to take blood everyday just once or twice a week."

"Oh I never thought of it like that."

"You've never noticed your body reacting negatively to your excessive consumption."

"Now that you've mentioned it I've noticed my stomach has knotted up after a few days of drinking but I thought my human half was rejecting my vampiric half."

She looked at me trying not to laugh.

"You know for a Protestant you have a very Catholic sense of guilt."

With that last statement I noticed she had an argumentative expression on her face almost like she was arguing with herself over something, over what I haven't the foggiest idea. I finished my breakfast and got ready for my training session.

"Focus William, let the the power flow through your body."

I sat in the castles chapel, with Roselle with my eyes closed. The only light coming on was from the beautiful stained glass windows, it was peaceful, like a church service with mother.

"Think about how your powers are triggered, focus on what you feel when you are serving Hellsing or how you felt about how you felt when Carol was kidnapped."

I heeded her advice and thought of my feelings, I thought of the feelings that helped active my powers. I thought of the anger that I felt when Nonsolotango kidnapped Carol, the feeling of loyalty I feel when I protect my country. The power started building up inside me I felt it the more as I focused at that point I was neither human nor vampire I was something different. As I opened my eyes I noticed a small smirk appear on Roselle's face, she hands me a mirror and I notice my eyes were glowing red. A wave of excitement came over me this was the first time I activated powers out of will instead of just going through the motions as a soldier.

Twins Irish broadswords then materialized in her hands they even had sapphire stones embedded in their respective hilts. Her eyes were glowing that intense blue I remembered from my fight with Nonsolotango.

"You did good William now time for part two of your training, show me what Integra taught you."

I unsheathed my sword and started to spar with her. It is amazing how my abilities affect me without adrenaline pumping through my veins. It feels like time has slowed down it was like Roselle and I were clashing our swords in slow motion. My hearing was a lot more clearer I heard every clang of our swords and the wind rushing past our ears. For ten minutes we sparred it's a while since I have drawn swords with a worthy opponent. As I was about to bring down a my sword, she harmonized and an energy shield formed blocking my blow.

"You fight well William."

"Thank you, you're not so bad yourself."

"However, there is something you can work on."

"Oh?"

"I see you've noticed my dhampir ability, and it being defensive."

"Yes, where is this going with this?"

"We need to unlock your ability as a dhampir. As we fought I noticed your sword starting to faintly glow red, from the loom of it your ability lays on the offensive side."

"Whatever it takes I'm willing to do it as your student."

"Good cause we're just getting started William,I'm going to-"

Just then it was as if as if Roselle had witnessed a ghost, I could sense the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. She turned to me, and I've seen the horrified expression on her face the color was drained from it and her cool demeanor was sudden shaken.

"William, listen to me I need you to hide."

"What's going on, Roselle? Maybe I can help."

"I can't risk that William, come!"

With that she rushed me with full force to the basement of the castle and what I couldn't believe what was sitting there. Waiting in the basement was Vladislav with a coffin ready for me to get in it. Vladislav had the same scared look on his face and honestly it was freaking me out a bit, he then turned to me.

"William we need you to hide in this."

"Whatever it is I can help."

"No William,listen!"

I turned to see Roselle with a fiery determination complementing the concern in her blue eyes.

"We can't risk him finding you I can't say much now but I need you to trust us and hide."

I nodded and reluctantly got in the coffin,as the lid shut I was surrounded by the darkness and my senses where deprived I couldn't do anything with my human half. However, this situation didn't call for my human half. I remembered the lessons Seras gave me on my third vampiric eye and used that to watch whatever was happening.

I closed my human eyes and focused, it was as if I was truly there. There was Roselle, in the foyers it was adorned with beautiful curtains over the windows and lovely paintings. Sge was then approached by a man with long burnette hair bound up in a onyx clasp, aside from his leather military like combat boots he wore what appeared to be a romanian peasents outfit. His overcoat and pants where blood red and they both had a gold border along with a fire pattern embroidered on to all to go along with his white shirt. On his hip was a leather belt with a sword attached to it,it looked like a military issued swordz from my own military knowledge it looked to be romanian air force of I were to hazard a guess.

He flash her a smile that could run even s vampires blood cold and spoke.

"Hello... my dear sister."

The shock on Roselle's face was enough to tell me that this was an unwelcome and unwanted visit.

"Adam...I..."

"How long has it been? Half a century since we've last seen each other?"

I could see she's trying to feign a smile. She is definitely uncomfortable with this encounter.

"60 years to be precise."

"And despite that time we spent apart...you haven't changed. Still sympathetic to humans, I take it?"

She then became sheepish almost like a child who was being scolded by her parent.

"What can I say, spend time with the humans, they eventually grow on you."

"That is evident. Now... let us dipense with the pleasantries,Evá...you know and I know why I'm here. Our father wants a word with you and I've been ordered to bring your back to him."

"My. Father having you of all people act as an errand boy? He must be desperate to see me. Tell me, does this "word" happen to be my my head presented in a pike?"

"Something like that. I would prefer not to drag you back to him in chains and be forced to witness my sister's tragic beheading."

Roselle or I guess Evá was grasping at her throat like this hypothetical behaving happened, it took her a couple moments to regain her composure.

"And...what do you actually prefer?"

"I'd prefer to offer mercy and end your life myself. At least I'll make it quick and nearly painless, our father I'm afraid... is not so merciful."

"Well...had you found me fifty years ago, I would gladly offered you my neck...but now...I'm not in a position to let myself be killed. Forgive me, brother, I do not wish to fight you...but I can't let you take my life."

She then brings out one of her swords, it's glow the same intense blue as her eyes.

"Not when I've begun to truly live it."

"So be it Evá, but... even if it's against father's will... I still intend to other mercy even if you do not desire it.

Adam then unseathes his own sword, his eyes glow an angry red, sparks fly off his sword like the weapon itself is angry.

"Now...come at me,Evá."

The two began to fight, their styles obviously differing in the room. Adam's fighting style was more aggressive and on the offensive side while, Roselle's was defensive and now calculated. Their swords even gave off a different sound, Adam's sword gave off a violent, raging clang in contrast to Roselle's sword, gave off a musical ringing it was as if her weapon could sing as well. While Roselle is a good fighter, her brother had her outmatched, he was figuring to kill and if i didn't do something he'd succeed. The fight headed to the chapel, the path of destruction followed them. Luckily Roselle was able to hold her own defense wise until the events that spurned me to not just sit on the sidelines. As Roselle was about to sing to activate her shield,Adam slit her throat, her own blood stained her blouseand she was start to chokeon it with no other sound escaping.

It didn't take five minutes to decide what I was going to do, I threw the lid off the coffin and jumped out. I grabbed my sword and headed for the chapel. Just then Vladislav stopped me from intervening.

"William, what are you doing out?"

"Listen Vladislav, I know you and Roselle are trying to protect me but I can't sit by and let Roselle die at the hands of her own brother."

"William, he will kill anyone who stands in his way."

"I'll take my chances, however I can't sit by and watch a mentor die it's not the British way to sit by and do nothing!"

"William, I can admire a man who refuses to be a bystander,I was a Catholic priest before I become a retainer but I know you shouldn't charge blindly into a fight."

"Roselle saved my life, I owe it to repay her for that debt I'm not foolishly going into a suicide mission, I'm doing what I was taught as a Hellsing."

He wanted to argue with me, but he knew I was not budging. I may risk my life but if I can save Roselle from a maniac I'll do it. He then stepped aside, reluctantly he could tell i was being immovable myself.

"Go, help Lady Roselle but promise me one thing."

"What?"

"Promise me you two come back alive."

I nodded in his agreement.

"Vladislav, as a man of God you have my word, we'll come back."

With that I ran to the chapel, as I ran into the foyer it looked like a warzone. The paintings were out of frames and their canvases torn, the curtains were just shreds nothing but colorful scraps, will the windows are blown out with glass everywhere honestly it made me internally grateful they I wore combat boots. As i entered the chapel it wasn't in better shape, there were make where the swords hit the walls and the stained glass were colorful pieces on the floor. When I made it to the dueling siblings, he was able to knock Roselle down and raise his sword, ready to deliver a fatal blow. With as much vampiric speed I could muster, I stopped his strike with my own blade. Luckily, I was able to confuse him out of his murder rage.

"WHAT?!"

In that confusion, I gave him a swift punch in the gut and caused him to step back in disorientation. He looked at us now wanting to a piece of me as well, when he spoke to us his voice was as cold as ice.

"Evá... what is the meaning of this?!"

"Clearly we haven't been introduced. I'm William Arthur Hellsing, son of Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing! In the name of the Church and the King, I will not have you harm His Majesty's subject! Dhampir or not she's a citizen of King William and as a Hellsing, I am older to safeguard his people from the supernatural forces of darkness, like you!"

"William you id-"

Roselle was about to scold me,but this Adam character gave her an equally icy glary that could freeze Satan himself this stopped her speaking.

"So... you not only ally with Hellsing's dogs... you DARED to reveal the secrets of the Bathory bloodline... to that damn woman and that accused MONSTER in your exile...?! Fine then... I'll forgo your mercy and make you wish that I returned you to our father...!"

We all started fighting, what was one on one was now two vs one. While fighting Roselle tried to talk sense into this man.

"I am guilty of many things, Adám, but if you wish to accuse me of a crime against the family, accuse me of a real one!"

"SILENCE. I've seen more than enough proof of your treachery, Evá. And now not only will you die on this night, so too well that half breed of Hellsing!"

As it blades kept crossing, one thing was for sure we were screwed if we couldn't calm him down, he is holding his own against to skilled combatants. Luckily he started struggling against us and that caused our scrimmage to have a pause. Looks like it's my turn to get through to him.

"She speaks the truth! I've only met her three weeks ago!"

Our blades struck again and again causing another pause in the fight.

"Hellsing had only learned of her after she saved my life from that bastard Nonsolotango! She had nothing to do with Hellsing while living in Ireland!"

A look of realization glinted in his eyes.

"What?"

With his powers, he forced us across opposite ends of the room.

"Did you say... Nonsolotango?"

"Yeah, and apparently that scumbag is after me because of my being the son of Sir Integra! Roselle hadn't met me until she saved me from him!"

Adam started chuckling, like he heard some sort of sick demented joke.

"Roselle is it, Evá? My, you really are a sentimental fool..."

She gripped her sword tighter, trying her best not to shake.

"Roselle,Evá, it doesn't matter, you can change your name all you want... but in the end you're still a Novák and you're still a Bathorian... and you'll never live to fulfill the destiny you were born to fulfill... because today... you're going to die!"

He was walking to Roselle, ready to kill her again. I tried to stop him but striking when my own sword but he blew off my strikes like I was a common fly,a nuisance to his goal. As he's about to accomplish his goal and strike her down, a swarm of bats appeared to save her. A white gloved hand was holding his blade. Adam's eyes were as wide as dinner plates like a child who got caught with his hands on the cookie jar. A laughter is then heard from the swarm bats, almost as maniacal as Adam's laughter. The hand holding his blade yanked away the blade from Roselle.

"If I were you, boy, I'd tell that arrogant fool that if he wants a war... don't send children to the front lines. After all, a true vampire, especially if that glutton's bloodline, would face me himself! Yet..."

I've heard stories about him, from mom and Seras but i never thought I'd see him with my own eyes myself. The original vampire himself Alucard right before my very eyes. Another gloved hand appeared and tilted his face up with a fierce grip on the side long his head.

"You seem to have potential. I so EAGERLY look forward to the day off our own battle... it's coming, Bathorian, it's coming...!"

All of a sudden, bats started flying in the room from all directions. Adam was looking at the ceiling, his face in awe.

"Now do you understand, brother?"

He looked at her with the same wide eyed expression on his face, and noticed on her left hand was the glowing pattern of a pentagram.

"What he truly intended to do with us? The true purpose behind the creation of us and what he wanted us to do? Why I chose a life of exile over living as his tool?! i couldn't live with such a cruel fate! And now you know everything; why I left, why I chose exile and why I began to train William.

He smiled cruelly, almost like a schoolyard bully.

"I do indeed know, sister... and you have given me such a wonderous gift, Evá. You have no idea how it pleases me to have finally met HIM...! In thanks, I believe I'll offer you more than mere mercy for what you've done. I gift to you and the young lad freedom and life."

He sheathed his sword, signalling this fighting is done.

"Enjoy both while you can, the days ahead will only grow darker from this moment on, farewell, sister.

He then bowed to Roselle, for an enemy he does act honorably.

"I know or father will be immensely pleased to learn of HIS coming return."

He was about to walk out,but then turned to me in a moment of realization of my existence.

"I almost forgot, the same can be said for you, son of Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing. I look forward to future battle with you, I'm certain there'll be more to come after tonight. (Until we meet again, future master of the dragon.) La Revadere domnul de Dracul.

He left on that note, I felt shook to my core and turned to Roselle with my mind going a thousand miles a minute.

"What... the HELL... was that?!"

"The unintended family reunion with my eldest brother? Or the fact we'd have been dead were it not for our previous unexpected guest?"

"...YES."

To be continued...

Another chapter done, but no worries I'll be working hard to get 8 up and I'm working on updating past chapters and fleshing them out more.
