A figure stood on the building at the dead of night, her back turned to the city of downtown Babylon. Her shinning gaze met with another figure, tears had starting filling her eyes to the brim. Her paws clenched in a fist trying to hold back what was inevitable. The figure's chest rose up and down slowly; the Eye of Ra tag on her collar reflected the moonlit sky the best way it could.

"So that's it? I can't change your mind at all." The figure spoke, her voice almost shaking.

Another figure stood before her. "You know I don't have a choice."

"YES YOU DO!" she hesitated a bit. "You can stay with me." There was no denying that she wasn't holding her tears anymore, the wet fur under her eyes was proof. She felt compelled to do something, anything that could get him to stay. Words weren't getting through and nothing she could do will either be of help.

"Tarot…" the tan furred Pomeranian looked up to the other figure but was met with lips to hers. Time froze for a bit as the cool breeze of the night sky blew through both of their furs. As the kiss broke apart the other figure had already left.

Tarot felt her chest as her heart beat raced fast and her cheeks began to feel warmer. But she still felt sad and abandoned like a part of her just left alongside him. The canine looked out onto the city, her gaze watching the horizon already wishing he was there beside her.

The morning light hit the buildings of Babylon as it cascades over the horizon. It was that day; the day that everyone was waiting for. The streets were crowded with the anticipation of humans and pets a-like. Certain roads were blocked off cause of such an event. It created chaos around Babylon with traffic delays and other personal issues. The stage was finally set and the pets were alll getting into their places.

"We're here at Hanging Garden Stadium in downtown Babylon Gardens where the 3rd Annual Edge Race is being held. Downtown is packed with people and animals all waiting for the teams to make their appearance. Oh and here she comes, the mistress of the hour now!"

A black limo pulled up to the sidewalk in front of the stadium where the reporter and a huge crowd were residing there now. The doorman/driver came out from his side and opened the back door. As he held the door open, a feminine leg dropped out from the inside followed by another. Pink heels donned on the feet; inside the limo, now currently rising out of it, was a lady who wore a pink dress up to her thighs and had white hair in the fashion of one long curl on her head going down to her chest. The reporter almost stormed to her trying to bombard her with questions.

"Please, all questions will be answered after today's event. I promise." The women vanished within the crowd and soon into the stadium. The reporter tried to follow but the attention from all the other paparazzi and other reporters had shifted as another car came up the driveway.

Before anything can happen the back door flung open and the brown mutt came out. His arms stretched out from his sides, eyes closed and a smirk on his face.

"I'm back! I know you all missed me and all, you're new champion will accept his praise now." The crowd went berserk. "I know I know I'm awesome I can give you…" he opened his eyes to see that the crowd wasn't at all looking at him but up at the rooftops. His right eye twitched as he clenched his fist.

"HEY! TEAM BINO'S LEADER IS STANDING BEFORE YOU! LOOK AT ME!" Bino yelled at the top of his lungs, but to no avail as the crowd still looked in awe toward the rooftops. The brown canine turned his attention up to the source that was stealing his glorious entrance.

"And of course it had to be her, didn't it!?"

The cats looked down at the people on the street level all expect Grape whose eyes seemed restless as it glided over the crowd. Max took it in as a huge grin appeared on his face.

"Well, here we are. Finally we get to show our stuff again. But first lets show our fans some appreciation." The black tabby started on his way to the lower level.

"I guess I'll have to stop him from being swept up in his own ego." Sabrina followed him.

Grape slowly walked away from the edge and started on her own way. Marvin looked at her while she left, crest fallen.

On the street level another team have came into the fray. Bino's shouting had ceased once he saw the other brown dog. Rex and Fox, who had been behind the brown canine this whole time saw that his shoulders released tension but his fist clenched harder.

Fido saw that his younger brother was watching him but thought nothing of it as he smiles and waves. Bino scoffed as he walked away, through the crowd of people going into the stadium, his teammates slowly following him.

"Welcome to the annual Edge Race Tournament. Broadcasting live from the famous Buccaneer Babylon Stadium." The crowd starting cheering as all the teams started to come out one by one after another.

One of the two announcers continued on, "If this is your first time tuning in, allow us to fill you in on the rules. Take it away Dennis"

"Gladly Steven. The tournament is divided into three rounds; teams, doubles, and singles. No other attribute is being tested other than only…skill." With that last word Dennis had fixed his glasses that was falling off his face.

"That's absolutely correct, the winners of each round will choose two of their team members to advance then the winners of that round will choose a single member to represent their team in the Singles round, and possibly winning, in hope of claiming victory. Now let's see who our teams are."

Down on the grounds of the stadium surrounded by the huge stadium bleachers that the crowd of people and pets a like, stood all the pets that were competing. The purple feline looked down the line to observe all the others and then to the podium where that lady was sitting.

"Grape, you're alright?" Marvin snapped Grape out of her trance.

"Y-Yeah, I'm good. Just stoked is all. I'm ready to tear the streets up and finish this already."

A black paw placed itself on her shoulder, "That's the Grape I like to here." Max grinned at her as the announcer started calling the teams name by name. The crowd getting louder and louder as they get closer to Grape and her team. But before then, the sound of loud helicopter blades started to engulf the sound of the crowd.

No one had noticed that the women's lips curved upward in a smile at the sight of the copter.

The metal carrier hovered low to the center grounds of the field, causing the pets to back away. The metal hatch opened slowly revealing three figures. The shadow was casted over their bodies slowly moving upward until the light had finally casted he shadow away. Only seven pets out of all that were there were surprised who were there. Fido clenched his fists and gritted his teeth as his eyes locked with the jaguar. Kevin put a reassuring paw on the brown canine's shoulder and shook his head.

The vulpine waved to everyone as they the three jumped from the helicopter before it took off.

"Don't enjoy it too much Kari, we are the degenerates here in there eyes." Jata said as he so regally stood still looking toward the competition.

"Yeah I know, I just wish she was here too." Karishad put his waving paw to a stop.

The gray wolf was the last to speak. "Give it time she's gonna…"

His words were cut off as he caught a glimpse of the unexpected.

"Um…Zero?" Kari questioned. Zero couldn't speak, his eyes met with hers, and vise versa.

As if on instinct the lavender feline gripped her other shoulder that wasn't occupied with Max's paw. It started to burn at the sight of the wolf. In her mind her head was in shambles.

"N-no…that's impossible. How…?"

The wolf shook his head as the women stood up in front of the podium. Her eyes also never left Zero. He looked back at her, this time his fangs being shown a little. Both Kari and Jata stood in front of him, their backs toward him as female started to speak.

"Now that everyone's here, let's begin shall we?

"You forgot something lady, my team isn't all here." Once those words went out of the lupine's mouth, a green flash engulfed Backlash also blinding everyone for a quick second. "Scratch that, they're here."

Once everyone was able to see once again, they were met with the tan Pomeranian and another figure, who at first everyone couldn't believe. Grape looked around to the other teams and noticed something was missing. Was she looked back, her eyes adjusting to the figure.

"T-That smile…"
