Do it for Bartok, please?

~Bartok's Hug~

It's a cold evening in Moscow, and a little albino bat by the name of Bartok is flying throughout the city, enjoying himself. Now free of the evil Rasputin, he was right his former master's path would only end in tears. He's looking forward to a life free from power hungry sorcerers. He never did like him, not even a bit. He only stuck around because he owed him, but that time is now over, he's free.

Flapping his wing-like arms, Bartok sung a little toon. He thought about returning home to his place in the palace, but as he was getting ready to head for home, he's interrupted by the sounds of someone screaming in terror.

"Huh? What's with the terror and screams of panic?" Bartok remarked, turning around and looking for the source, growing horrified and frowning when he caught sight of who was in a panic.

Seeing a bat of similar stature to his own, it was a purple and white bat with purple eyes. The poor creature's being chased by some very hungry cats, who want the bat for a quick meal. Feeling pity for the bat, Bartok perked up and flew down, he wasn't about to let a poor bat get eaten. That's certainly not a pleasant way to go, and besides it's the least he can do by helping him escape a predator.

"Hold on, little guy. I'm coming!" Bartok stated, flapping his wings and chasing after the cats. He wasn't gonna let this happen!

The cats were still on the bat's wings and quickly ganging up on him. The cold weather wasn't helping matters either. The purple and white bat was sensitive to the cold, it was wearing him out faster. He was already shivering, as if flying wasn't hard enough already.

Moscow sure was something. The young bat almost wished he'd never flew onto that train and left his home behind, because this certainly is a nightmare he's experiencing now and he was ready for it to end. He hated the cold so much, he hated it all. The cats, the cold weather, his loneliness. He'd hoped to have made a friend by now, he longed for companionship and just wanted to form a connection with someone, anyone!

He kept flying, putting all his will into flying as fast as he could away from the hungry predators, just as it began to snow. Cursing himself, his vision starts to get blurry and begins to fall from the sky. He came crashing down into the snow, rolling up into a ball of it. Shaking he snow off and shivering, he saw the cats coming for him and began sobbing in despair. This was the end for him.

"Oh, why? Why me?" The poor bat said to himself, sobbing and sniffling. "I only wanted to make a friend! Why does this world hate me so much?!"

"Because you're lunch and that's all you are!" hissed one of the cats, frightening the bat.

He ran to hide in some crates nearby for refuge. But just before he has the slightest bit of hope, one of the cats jumps in front of him, blocking the entrance and hissing. The bat screamed and ran away from the feline. He attempted to fly away, only to be swatted by another cat and sent back on the ground. The bat sobbed, curling himself up in a ball and awaited his untimely demise.

Bartok managed to reach the scene, remaining far enough away so the cats wouldn't spot him. It made him angry, sure, bats were easy targets. But that doesn't mean they should be a cat's dinner. Seeing snow on the roof above where the cats were, Bartok smiled and formed an idea, flying up to the roof.

"If only I did have the strength to lift ten thousand pounds of pressure, but what can ya do?" Bartok said to himself, starting to push at the heavy snow pile. "Come on, cut a bat a break for once!"

"Just make it quick, you monsters!" cried the bat, wishing for a quick end with mercy.

One of the cats got ready to pounce on the helpless bat, but Bartok tapped into his own inner strength and pushed the snow off with a huff. The cats heard something falling and looked up, to their horror as they meowed, getting buried in snow. The little bat's life was saved. The frightened cats, with fur wet from the snow, all run away from the scene in defeat.

The purple bat looked up to find he was still alive and unharmed, seeing the cats fleeing. Breathing a sigh of relief, he sat down in the snow and looked around as to who could've saved his life, at least wanting to thank his savior.

"Um... Hello? Anybody out there?" The bat called out, awaiting a response. "Thanks for saving me and stuff back there."

The bat was grateful, he seemed like a good one. Bartok chuckled a bit, he even looked little cute covered in that snow. It would be rude not to introduce himself and besides, he doesn't meet that many bats of his size often. Flying down, the bat's eyes met with his savior, it was a pink eyed albino bat who had saved him from those cats. Blushing shyly, he had to admit his savior was pretty cute looking, he had to admit.

"So, you saved me from those cats? Thanks." smiled the bat, blushing under his fur and looking down at the snowy ground. "I thought I was a goner back there."

"It's not a problem, little guy. But you ought to avoid these streets at night, lots of hungry cats and many other dangers." Bartok said, extending his hand and helping the bat get on his feet. "Don't think them cats will be bothering you anymore."

Brandon was humbled by the kindness bestowed onto him by this bat. He certainly had the heart of a hero in him, but why did he have to be so cute at the same time? He hoped his savior couldn't see him blushing.

"You're welcome. But say, what's your name? My name's Bartok." Bartok introduced himself, shaking the bat's hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you, sir."

"Oh, right. M-my name's Brandon. And I must say, Bartok's a really nice name." Brandon replied, introducing himself and smiling.

"Gee, thanks." Bartok laughed, smiling at the bat. He was already starting to like this purple bat.

Brandon smiled warmly at the albino bat who had saved him. He needed to show his thanks, he didn't have any gold coins to compensate him, so a hug would have to do and plus, this guy was such a cutie. He walked over to Bartok and threw his wing-like arms around him, embracing Bartok in a warm hug. Bartok was startled by the sudden affection, as Brandon sighed and snuggled into him, enjoying the warmth coming from the moment.

"Whoa, whoa! Hold on a minute!" Bartok exclaimed, surprised by the hug. But it didn't upset him a bit with the bat being on the grabby side. "What are you doing?"

Brandon giggled and rolled his eyes, hugging Bartok tighter. "Giving you a hug, silly. There's no other way I can repay you for your kindness."

Bartok softened up and laughed, bringing his own wing-like arms in and hugging the bat back. Brandon grinned and closed his eyes, he wasn't used to being hugged but when it happened, it made him especially giddy with delight. Both bats were enjoying it, neither really wanted to break the hug, and for Bartok, he was softening up a bit more as he brought one of his hands up and playing with his companion's ears, inciting a giggle.

"That tickles!" giggled Brandon, sticking his tongue out and laughing.

"You sure are cute, that giggle too is nice!" Bartok complimented his fellow bat's cuteness.

Bartok played around with Brandon for a bit longer, until both of them broke the embrace and looked at each other. "Well, um, I guess we should both be getting back home then. Be careful out there." Bartok said, feeling a pain in his chest as he was sad to leave him behind.

Brandon understood, he sighed and looked down at the ground, tears building up as his sniffled. Bartok's ears perked up at this, he looked back to see Brandon crying. Now what could have gotten him so upset now? It was time to go their separate ways, but the purple bat felt a connection with Bartok, he didn't want to lose that and be alone again and wants a friend so badly.

"Hey, are you okay?" Bartok asked, concerned for the bat's welfare.

"Don't go, Bartok, please! I have nobody here and I have hard enough time making friends!" Brandon pleaded in between sobs, crying his eyes out. "You seem like a nice bat and I don't want to be alone any longer! It hurts too much being without friends!"

Bartok's heart sank when he heard that. Poor little bat was lonely and looking for friends, he just wanted to form a connection with another. He felt sympathetic, understanding the pain of being lonely, he really didn't have anybody around for years except for that evil artifact he kept until it reunited him with his master. Going over to he crying bat, he lifts his chin up and smiles, pulling Brandon into a hug.

Brandon tenses up at the hug, but smiles sadly and hugs back, sniffling as Bartok held him close to his furry chest.

"Now don't get to crying because you'll make me cry." Bartok said, sniffling as he looked down at his companion. "Why don't you come along with me, I could use a roommate and I think we'll get along just fine."

The purple bat's heart skipped a beat and he sniffled, looking at Bartok hopeful. "You mean it? I can stay with you, Bartok?" He asked, hopeful.

"Absolutely! Plus, you want a friend? I'll be your friend!" Bartok reassured him and promised him his friendship.

Then, Brandon squealed and tackled Bartok to the snowy ground in a tight hug, both of them laughing as they rolled around in the snow. Bartok giggled, nuzzling Brandon's face and hugging his new friend back. Oh, it felt so good to laugh!

"I feel like I'm the happiest bat in the world, Bartok!" grinned Brandon, snuggling into his new friend.

"Aw, I feel the same way. But come on, let's fly and I'll take you to where I live." Bartok said, flying up and flapping his wings. "Stay close to me. Okay?"

Giving a nod, Brandon flapped his wings and flew up, following Bartok. They made a brief stop and grabbed a few berries to eat, being chased by cats sure worked up an appetite. After eating, they flew into the Old Palace, the place where Bartok set up his home. Brandon looked around in awe, already liking where he's gonna be living. He follows his new friend inside, seeing Bartok hanging upside down on the molding.

Giggling, Brandon flew down and hung from the molding, embracing Bartok in another hug. Bartok laughs and wraps his wing-like arms protectively around his new friend, as Brandon giggles and snuggles closer, enjoying the warmth and letting out a yawn, his fangs showing. It was like a sleepover, only way more affectionate.

"You sure are one for giving hugs, aren't ya?" Bartok playfully teases his new friend, keeping him close.

"Well, I got me a great new best friend and I love you, Bartok!" Brandon grinned, kissing Bartok right on his cute nose.

"Wow, wow, I tell ya what, wow! A little too affectionate, I'd say." Bartok blushed, nuzzling Brandon's furry cheek. "Love you too. I won't let go while you sleep."

Yawning again, Brandon cuddled in close to his friend for warmth, closing his eyes and falling asleep peacefully. Bartok just smiled, he could hardly believe how adorable his new friend was and how precious it was being in such an affectionate embrace with said bat. Bartok laughed and planted a soft kiss on Brandon's furry head, soon falling asleep himself and joining him in the land of dreams. One little hug and it changed the lives of both these bats forever, a new friendship full of love, care, happiness, and comfort was born from one simple hug.

The end.
