It was a slightly chilly night, the air was pleasant for it had been quite a hot day, typical California weather, but for someone who rarely ever wore color, it was harsher.

Johnny sat atop his car's hood this night, staring up at the vast sky full of stars. It was beautiful, he thought so at least. It made him ever so happy that even in a world full of wretched filth that barely fit the mold of a human being there was still beauty in it all.

He let out a content sigh at the sight, but as with all good things with him, it didn't last long.

His mind while full of noise was dimmed, the static he heard constantly a faint hum in the back of his head. It made it easy for his thoughts to drift across the now steady current , for usually it was an angry sea.

He remembered the night he and Devi came here, to his special place. The memory made his heart sink, but not as much as it usually had back 4 years ago. Back then he would have cried, what an awful show of emotion that was, but now, it simply made him frown.

The static grew louder, a sign that his temporary contentment was over. The storm approaching over the sea, changing a steady current to a raging sea all over again. He sighed in annoyance, the moment was over. He got to his feet and opened the driver side door, slamming it shut and turning the ignition.

His mood sour, he thought of what to do. He could barely think with the now noisy brain, static with voices of all variations in tone mocking him. He settled on heading to a lousy diner in the more inner part of the city, it was right next to a Starsmucks too. He hadn't eaten in, shit, he couldn't remember. It was probably about time he did.

He parked his car a few steps away, other cars taking any closer spot. Passing by the few little shops and Starsmucks, he headed inside.

The diner's name was Dingy's, a rundown sort of look occupied it inside and out. Had he given enough shits he would have left, but he didn't tonight.

He took a seat in a booth in the corner, soon followed by a waitress walking up to him. She had blue-ish hair, hard to tell if it was blue or black from far away. She really looked like she hated her job.

"What can I get you this evening?" She asked, her voice sounding gravely as she handed him a menu. Everything looked awful, but he settled on pancakes. Least this way he wouldn't need to eat awhile after this.

"Pancakes." He said as he handed back the menu. She annoyingly yanked it from his hands, making him glare at her.

"Is that all? You could use to eat a bit more. You look like you're fucking dying. You got one of them tapeworms, eh?" She gave a dry laugh at the end, making his agitation grow. He wouldn't kill her- yet- not until after he got his food. Then she'd get what she deserved, he thought.

She left to tell the cook to make pancakes, calling him an emo which he heard from his corner booth. She was really asking for it.

A few minutes later she brought he the pancakes, almost slamming down the plate and getting them everywhere, along with a bottle of syrup.

It would have been then he would have gotten revenge for her rudeness towards a customer, but then he heard a familiar voice.

It sounded.. like Devi.

He had to be sure, looking to the opposite side of the room. It was her, and some guy he hadn't seen before. On a date perhaps.

She had dyed her hair once again, it being purple with some streaks of brighter blue. It looked good on her. Her attire hadn't changed though, black with only slight minimal dark colors. She looked beautiful.

He mentally slapped himself, he promised to stay away from her. Had she seen him yet? Probably not, otherwise she would have either left or attacked him by now.

He had to leave, unfortunately without delivering his own type of justice to the rude waitress.

He pulled out his wallet and pulled out enough money to cover his meal, standing to his feet abruptly and heading to the door. The waitress looked at him, a confused look upon her features. "Leaving now? Didn't even eat the damn pancakes."

Her voice caused to turn Devi's attention to the customer hurrying to exit. She only saw a blur of black, and the windows too dirty to see any features besides his height as well.

Johnny got into his car and drove home, driving through many red lights. Not that it mattered much, the police never showed up to his house. He felt untouchable with that fact.

He slammed the door shut and head in, plopping down onto the couch with a grunt. He let out a sigh of relief of relaxation, before a voice spoke.

"Welcome home Johnny. How was your little night out?" Reverend Meat materialized in front of him, sitting atop the broken t.v. His voice seemed a bit less menacing than there other conversation from yesterday.

"Pleasant at first, but then descalated to shit. Why the fuck do you care anyhow?"

Reverend Meat chuckled. "As the voice of your emotions, I do believe it is my responsibility to know how you're feeling. From what you've told me, your angry, but also a bit, well, sad."

"Sad!? Excuse me, but I buried that pathetic emotion with the others long ago. Where ever the fuck you got that idea I was even sad I'll never know."

"Your reaction sealed it, Nny. You're cracking the seal that's holding everything back, and while you continue to try and repair it, it's as fragile as ice. And the sun melts it!"

Johnny stood to his feet and quickly grabbed the statue, gripping it so tight it could have broke.

"You listen here! Nothing is cracking on my watch! DO YOU HERE ME YOU LITTLE SHIT!? I got done with being controlled by the Doughboys 4 goddamn years ago! I control me now! AND NOTHING IS BREAKING ON MY WATCH!"

He screamed at the statue before throwing it to the ground, but it stayed in one piece.

"Ah yes! Bring out your anger! Feel your emotions thrive within you!"

Johnny walked past the statute, flinging open the door to the basement and unleashing the smell of death itself. A usual smell for it.

"I'M AS COLD AS THE MOON YOU FUCK! SHUT UP!"

With that, he slammed it shut behind him. It was time to get to work.
