Gabriella types into the open chat window:

This is Lisa, here for all of your problems. Ask away.

Gabriella Montez works for East High's digital newspaper, holding the reign of Ask Lisa for the past year. Questions about the cafeteria food…

Can you change the menu from tuna to pizza? Or maybe tacos?

…pop quizzes…

What do you think about pulling the fire alarm to get out of Mr. Turner's pop quiz?

…and the undesirable.

Wanna go out?

Until one afternoon, Gabriella gets one of the most serious questions she's ever gotten in a while.

Playmaker14: I need to confess something to my…friend, but how do I know if they'll forgive me? I've missed them and this confession could make or break the rest of our relationship, or lack thereof.

Gabriella pauses over the keyboard with furrowed brows. Who could this be?

Troy Bolton is the star of the basketball team, the most popular student, against his own will. He has other interests in mind.

Troy stared at the blank brick wall behind the abandoned pool hall, shaking a canister of spray paint. He glanced around to make sure he was alone, not surprised that he was anyway at three in the morning. He put his Wildcat face mask on and pulled up his hoodie over his head, uncapping the canister.

Nobody else knows that Troy Bolton is the mastermind behind the mysterious graffiti popping up overnight. Everyone at school compared him to Banksy. Always there, but never seen.

Troy stayed behind as a group of students marveled at a large banner of graffiti artwork displaying a Wildcat chewing up a basketball, hung up above the "E" in the cafeteria.

Life was never that simple for him, though. Not since that night before the end of freshman year.

Gabriella ran up to her family's bookstore, only minutes after they got the call. The flames were rising. Glass was shattered on the ground. She peered closer, coughing from the smoke, noticing that the register was missing. Before she could even contemplate what had caused this, she saw movement.

Troy, her supposed best friend, was watching the whole scene on the other side. His white shirt had black soot on it and he was holding his hand to gingerly, as if he was injured. Or, burned. Their eyes met, his with a pleading urgency and hers with such deep hatred that she never thought she would have for this boy.

They haven't spoken since that night and Gabriella had no plans to speak to him again after ruining her parents livelihood. Until she is forced to help tutor him in American History to bring up his grade.

Gabriella stopped what she was saying and looked up at Troy across from her, who had dozed off. She tapped her pencil on his head, waking him up.

"Troy, please!" She scoffed. "I'm spending my time with you for once in years to help you. I'd appreciate it if you'd actually pay attention to me."

Troy rubbed his head and didn't say a word except for, "Sorry."

As they continue to spend time together, the bond between them that had thought to be gone was still there, attempting to remind the two how they truly feel about each other.

Gabriella looked down at Troy's beautiful blue eyes, the eyes she always managed to get lost in from the day they met. Her body was flush against his on the couch, their faces flushed from the fireplace and the spark that never left.

Adventures are found…

Gabriella jumped into the lake with a squeal, the night sky and stars reflecting the water and the glisten of Troy's bare skin as he laughed at her playful attitude, something he had missed for a long time.

Masks are removed…

Gabriella held the Wildcat mask in her hands with an incredulous, small laugh. She looked at the artwork of beautiful colors and hard work on the wall and then at Troy, who looked pretty sheepish with his hoodie still up.

Secrets are revealed.

Troy jogged to catch up with Gabriella as she stormed off back towards her house, tears streaming down her cheeks as her heart broke in her path.

"Gabi, please let me explain!"

Gabriella turned around and stopped in her tracks. Troy's chest met her finger as she pointed at him. "Don't you call me that, Troy! You lied to me! You've been lying to me from the very beginning!"

As Troy and Gabriella navigate their final year of high school together with ice, long forgotten feelings and secrets begging to be let out, does the bond between these two have the strength to get them through the biggest uphill battle?
