The next morning Chip awoke and looked over to Dale sleeping on his side. He gently rolled him over to check to see if he had a pulse and sure enough, Dale did. The peaceful snores were just the amount of relief Chip needed at that time. Eventually getting up and heading downstairs for breakfast, Chip soon after came back to the bedroom to see Dale awake and ready.

"Are you ready to go?" Dale asked.

"Go where?" Chip asked

"For a walk in the park. We always do that this time in the morning.

Chip set his mug down on the desk and turned to Dale. "Dale, we haven't done that in years." He said.

Dale cocked his head sideways in confusion. "Are you sure? It seems like just yesterday we did." He said.

Chip smirked. "Go ahead and wait for me downstairs, I'll be there to join you in a minute." He said.

"Okay, see you there," Dale replied, leaving the bedroom.

Dale waited downstairs while Chip got ready. He then says Monterey Jack and Zipper walking past from the kitchen to the living room.

"Oh, I didn't realize we had company," Dale said.

"Huh? Oh, right, your memory is gone. Heh, we're friends of Chip." Monterey Jack explained.

"Oh, I see," Dale replied.

Gadget then emerged from the kitchen. "Dale, you're awake! I'm so glad to see you're feeling better." She said, giving him a brief hug.

Dale in confusion stood back. "Um, yeah, I'm alright. Are you alright?" He asked.

Gadget smiled. "Yes silly, I'm just fine." She replied.

Chip then appeared from the bedroom. "Okay, Dale I'm ready." He said.

"Where are you two off too?" Monterey Jack questioned.

"Just getting out for some fresh air, Monterey. Will be back soon." Chip said.

Chip and Dale then left and proceeded on their walk through the park. Dale starred at the many views that the park offered. However, his distracted behaviour caused him to walk into a pole and fall to the ground.

Chip tried to contain his giggles and knelt to see if Dale was okay. "Are you alright?" He asked.

Dale rubbed his sore head. "Yeah, just fine." He replied.

Chip then helped Dale to his feet and they proceeded on their walk again.

"Say, Chip, you never guess who visited me last night," Dale said.

"Who?" Chip asked.

"Todd," Dale said.

"What did he want?" Chip asked.

"He gave me my life back but he could only give me my life and one memory. I still can't remember anything of the past, only one thing." Dale explained.

"What's that one thing?" Chip questioned.

"You." He replied.

"Why didn't he just grant you all your memories back?" Chip asked.

Todd leaning on the pole that Dale walked into spoke up. "Because, there's a way to these things, Chip." He stated.

Chip flinched back. "What are you doing here?" He asked.

"Just popping in to see how Dale was. How have you been feeling, Dale?" Todd asked.

Dale nodded. "I'm doing just fine." He said.

"How did you manage to bring Dale back to full health, and only give him one of his many memories?" Chip questioned.

"Because I'm his and your Guardian Angel. It's my job to look out for you two. Rest assured, his memories will come back in a given time. However, I think for now it's best for Dale to relax a little and recover. No need to overwhelm him by putting him back out into the field as a Rescue Ranger." Todd explained.

Chip sighed. "I just wish he could remember everything and everyone." He said.

"Well, there is one person that I will grant Dale's memory back for because I believe he is owed a thank you," Todd said.

"Who's that?" Dale asked.

"A little boy named Adrian who saved your life. He did quite the service of bringing you into his home and caring for you. I believe he is owed a little bit of gratitude for his service." Todd explained.

"Okay, only I can't remember who he is or where he lives," Dale said.

Todd snapped his fingers. "How about now?" He asked.

"Oh, I remember where he lives. He lives in Queens, I remember that bed he made out of the tissue box for me." Dale said, remembering the forgotten events.

"How did you do that?" Chip questioned.

Todd smirked and pointed to his head. "I guess you could say it's all in the mind." He said.

Chip scoffed. "Well, I can see that." He said.

Todd motioned to Dale. "Go on, the boy is waiting for you." He said.

Chip and Dale then proceeded on their way to Adrian's. Chip turned back to Todd. "Are you coming with us?" He asked.

Todd shook his head. "No, you go, I have other things to do." He answered.

Back in the treehouse Gadget unusually writing in a notepad at her workbench in her workshop. There was a knock at the door. She stated for whoever it was to come in.

"Todd, what are you doing here?" She asked.

"I've come to talk to you about Dale." He answered, sitting on the stool next to Gadget.

"Golly, is something wrong?" She asked in concern.

"No, no, nothing like that. It's about you and Dale. I...I know you have feelings for him and I wanted to come to talk to you about it." He explained.

"Gosh, how did you know that?" Gadget asked.

Todd smirked. "A lucky guess. The truth is Gadget, Dale has feelings for you too. However, he's young and immature, not to mention his constant feud with Chip over you. He doesn't know how to express his feelings towards you without clamming up. Maybe if you are serious about taking your relationship to the next level you should talk to him." He explained.

Todd stood up and began walking towards the workshop door. Opening it slightly and standing in the doorway Gadget stopped him. "Wait, do you know what Dale had to promise Mary? She asked.

Todd smirked. "You will have to speak to Mary about that. Take care, Gadget." He said leaving the workshop, the door closing behind him.

Gadget now filled with questions wanted to get more answers from Todd. She opened the door quickly. "Wait, Todd!" She stated but it was almost as if he vanished completely.

On the other side of town, Chip and Dale were at Adrian's bedroom window. Dale tapped on the glass and Adrian came over and opened the window.

"Dale, you came back!" He said.

"Yeah, I wanted to say thank you for everything you did for me," Dale said.

"You're welcome. That's what friends are for, right?" Adrian said.

Dale smiled. "Right." He replied.

"You left something here from earlier. Did you want to come and grab it?" Adrian asked.

"Sure," Dale replied.

The scene then transitions to Gadget entering Mary's little shop underneath a clothing store in midtown Manhattan. The bell on the small door chimes as she enters.

"Just a second." Mary's voice echoed from the back room.

Soon after Mary entered the room.

"Oh, Gadget, how have you been? Did you find Dale?" She asked.

"Yes, we did." Gadget replied.

"Oh, that's so good to hear. I was worried about him telling you the truth." Mary answered.

There was an awkward pause between the two for a moment before Mary spoke again.

"Is there something else on your mind dear?" She asked.

"Um, I know it's none of my business but what did you whisper to Dale the night you dropped him off? Gadget asked.

Mary smiled. "You really like this boy, don't you?" She asked.

Gadget awkwardly shook her head in embarrassment.

"Well, what I told him if I could remember correctly was that you're going to meet another chipmunk tonight. I know you two are different and you won't always get along but he needs a companion that he can trust in this life. We all do tell you the truth Dale. I see great things in the future for the both of you but I want you to promise me that you'll look out for him and to never give up on him even though sometimes that may seem like the easy thing to do. Ideally, Dale, I just want you to try for me. He nodded his little head and with a weak smile he gave me a brief hug. I knew that he would grow up properly and that he'd never leave Chip's side." Mary explained, recounting the memory.

"Golly, things make a lot more sense now that you've told me that." Gadget said.

"If you truly love Dale Gadget then I suggest you try and make the first move. I know he's too shy to tell you how he really feels." Mary said.

"I'll do just that. Thank you" Gadget said, rushing out of the store.

"Take care!" She said.

Back at the treehouse Gadget is greeted by Chip and Dale who had just returned from their trip to Adrian's house.

"Hey guys, how did Adrian's go?" She asked.

"It went well, Dale said thank you to him. So did I. You coming in for dinner?" Chip said.

"Um in a minute. Dale, could I speak to you in private?" Gadget asked.

Chip and Dale looked at each other and then Dale stepped forward. "Um, sure." He said.

Chip went inside and Gadget then turned her attention to Dale. "Um, I like you and I have for quite some time. I was kind of wondering if you'd like to try dating each other and see what it's like." She said, blushing in embarrassment.
