So I am back with a new Fanfiction. For one of my fav comics of all time Mouse Guard. I know I still need to work on my other fan fiction but I lost my old laptop with those files. I do plan on going back and trying to pick up where I left off but for now I am going to be working on this. Hopefully y'all enjoy this. Writing is certainly the best way to kill time at work.

Trevor let out a cry as he swung his wooden sword. He was quickly knocked to the muddy ground. "Not only did you give away your attack by crying out announcing it to the world. The swing was weak and your footwork was sloppy." An aged feminie voice said. Trevor looked up at the owner of the voice. The source was a red furred mouse with hints of grey. "Normally I would say try it again but we have a mission from Gwendolyn. Get yourself cleaned up, gear up and meet me by the gate in fifteen." With that said Trevor watched his mentor head off.

With a sigh Trevor slowly got himself out of the mud. His black fur being slightly caked in it. He headed to the barracks to clean himself and gather his equipment. Trevor was a Tenderpaw under the Patrol Leader Cristene. She was a tough mouse. He definitely put him through the ringer but that only made him work harder. He couldn't help but be excited as this would be his first mission.

After four seasons worth of training he was finally going on a mission. Trevor certainly hoped he was ready. The chances this was going to be a difficult mission were unlikely but there was always the chance for something to go awry. Once Trevor was properly cleaned up he grabbed his actual sword and headed for the front gate.

Upon reaching the gate Trevor saw four mice gathered there. He saw Cristene was talking to the leader of the guard Gwendolyn who was a cream furred mouse adorned in ceremonial garb with a blue clock adorned on her back. The other two were a Blonde and Grey furred mice. They were Gale and Galliard, the usual mice that went on patrols with Cristene. Gale had a yellow clock that matched his fur while Vidar had black clock. The two have helped Cristene in his training from time to time.

With a swish of her vibrant red clock Cristene turned to Trevor as he approached the group. "Good you're here. Means we can head out. Though I shall let Gwendolyn explain the mission." Cristene said as she went to check on Galliard and Gale. "Nice to see you again Trevor hope your training is going well. You and your patrol are to investigate Pebblebrook. We have not heard anyone word from them for several seasons and the Guard I dispatched from Barkstone have not reported back either. I know this sounds daunting for a Tenderpaw like yourself but have seen you training and have faith in your Patrol." Gwendolyon explained to Trevor who's excitement had been quickly replaced with nervousness. He was expecting something simple like deliver a message or help someone go from one place to another. Not figure out why a whole town went silent. With a glup he looked over at Cristene who was waiting by the gate seemingly done talking with Gale and Galliard. He then looked back at Gwendolyn "You can count on us!." He proclaimed with a salute. Gwendolyn returned the salute with her own and a smile. "I am certain you will complete the mission." With that Gwendolyn left the four mice.

"What's with the nervous look kid?" Gale said as Trevor approached the Trio. "Worried that this might be too much for your first mission?" Gale asked as he handed satchel to Trevor. "Daunting as it may be it could easily turn out to be nothing. The silence does worry me especially since the Guard mice that were at Barkstone have not reported back. Though the only way to find out is to get there." Gale said with a smile despite his own worry. "Let's head out, waiting around will only make the mission take longer.' Galliard said as he signaled for the gate to be raised. Galliard then double checked his own satchel and grabbed his Hailberd. "You heard em let's get going." Cristene said as secured her sword and satchel. Gale followed suit with his spear and satchel. Trevor followed after them after doing the same.

The trip to Pebblebrook would consist of two stops before reaching it. One in Shaleburrow a simple pass through and another stop in Barkstone. That would be a bit longer. Not very long just to gather info if anyone had anything on Pebblebrook or the Guards that had been in Barksone. Trevor had actually been on a similar trip before when Gale had headed to his hometown which was Barkstone. Galliard and Cristene needed him for a patrol so they took him to Barkstone so he could familiarize himself with a few of the towns before he set out with them on an actual Patrol such as the one they were on now.

"So are the rumor's true Cristene that you plan on leaving our Patrol?" Galliard spoke up as they headed towards Shaleburrow. Cristene raised a brow and looked at Galliard. "You're not the one to listen to rumors Galliard. Gale told you didn't he?" Galliard simply grunted and Gale was making himself look quite focused on the ground. "I was planning to tell you two after this Patrol. Yes I am actually planning on retiring and have been a Guard for almost forty years now. Though that won't be for another year not till Trevor becomes a Guardmouse. Though I am not going to decide which of you two idiots becomes the new Patrol Leader. Gwendolyn can do that for me besides I don't want to play favorites." Cristene said with a smile she knew that after twenty years of Patrolling with someone it was hard to let them go. She knew she couldn't keep it up anymore. Just training Trevor was proof enough that her body was not what it once was.

"Sorry Ma'am couldn't help but overhear your conversation with Gwendolyn earlier." Gale apologized he had a bad habit of listening in to conversations. Though that habit has proven useful a couple of times. Cristene just responded with a thwap on the back of Gale's head. Galliard just kept his focus ahead satisfied with the answer.

Trevor had already known of Cristene's retirement; she had been up front about it when she first took him on as a Tenderpaw. He knew the Trio certainly were renowned amongst the Guard. He grew up knowing their names and had been excited to see them return to Lockhaven. Trevor had been even more excited to be taken on as a Tenderpaw by one of them and actually get trained by them all. It was clear that he was to be her replacement in the Patrol. He could only hope to live up to their expectations.
