Chapter 1: Road Trip to California.

In the Kitchen, The Foremans, Eric, and Hyde are at the table, eating breakfast.

Kitty - I can't believe Donna ran away from home.

Red - Thank this Dumbass over here.

Eric - What?

Red - That poor girl wanted you back, and you told her no.

Eric - I had to, Dad, I'm not a rebound. I have pride, honor, dignity.

Red - And this coming from a guy who still plays with dolls.

Eric - They are not dolls, they are G.I. Joes.

The sliding door opens, it's Bob.

Bob - Hey there, hi there.

Hyde - Morning, Bob.

Bob - I think I know where Donna is at.

Kitty - Where?

Bob - My only guess is California.

Kitty - How did you figure?

Bob - That's where Midge was last living at, according to her last postcard, plus there's no one else Donna would run to.

Eric - There's Casey Kelso.

Red gives him a look.

Red - Don't be a smartass.

Bob - Not funny, Eric. But if you must know, I did check there too, he hasn't seen her either.

Kitty - Is Midge really in California?

Bob - I don't know, that postcard was sent to me months ago.

The sliding door opens again, It's Kelso.

Kelso - Morning, everyone.

Kitty - Hi, Michael.

Red - Oh, look, it's the village idiot.

He laughs at Red's comments.

Kelso - You're joking Red, right?

Red - Kelso, I never joke about something.

Eric - It's true, he's like Patton and Captain Kirk rolled into one.

Red - You just like getting me mad in the morning, don't you?

Eric - What can I say, it's a gift.

Kitty - Michael, why are you up this early?

Kelso - Oh, I was just coming back from Jackie's...I mean the playground.

Both Hyde and Eric chuckle.

Hyde - Great story, Kelso.

Eric - I agree.

Kelso - So, What's everyone up to?

Eric - Trying to find out where Donna ran away to.

Kelso - Oh, she went to California.

Eric - What?

Kelso - Yeah, I saw her at the bus station, I thought about going along, but I didn't want to miss my shows.

Hyde - Kelso, you watch cartoons in the morning.

Kelso - I know, I didn't want to miss them. Plus, Jackie would've been looking for me.

Red - Focus, Kelso.

Kelso - What?

Red - You saw Donna leave, and you didn't bother to tell anyone?

Kelso - I was going to, but I forgot.

Red - Kelso, How do you...Never mind.

Bob - Well, that settles it, I'm going to California.

Red - What?

Bob - You heard me, I'm going there to get my family back.

Kitty - Red.

Red - Kitty, let him go, he can take care of himself.

Bob - That's right. After all I ran my own business.

Red - See. He can do it.

Kitty - No, he can't go, can you imagine a whole summer without him?

Red thinks about it.

Fantasy P.O.V.

Red and Kitty are in the driveway, relaxing on lawn chairs.

Kitty - This is nice.

Red - Yup. It's peaceful, and there's no one to ruin it. Perfect Summer.

End of Fantasy.

Kitty - Red!

Red - What?

Kitty - Red, Bob can't go to California by himself.

Red - You're right, Kitty. Eric, you go with Bob to California.

Eric - Really?

Red - Yes, decide before I change my mind.

Eric - I'm going to California!

Bob - Good, we can leave tomorrow.

Kelso - We can take my van!

Bob - Even better, I'm gonna go start packing, you should too.

Eric - On it.

Bob turns around and exits the house, Eric goes up to his room, Fez enters the Kitchen.

Kitty - Fez? What are you doing here?

Fez - Oh, I like to come visit, makes me feel special.

Hyde - Looks like it'll be me and these guys all summer long.

Red - You'd better go along, Steven, and take the idiot brothers with you as well.

Hyde - Cool.

Fez - Oh, we're getting new friends?

Hyde - Let's go, guys.

Hyde gets up from the table, and goes down to the basement, with Kelso and Fez following suit. Red smiles.

Red - Here's to a great summer.

End of Chapter One.
