Winds of Change

Chapter 1: The end in the beginning (Prologue)

Have you ever seen a light so bright it felt like you were on fire and nothing around you was real anymore? That's what it felt like for me the first time I was here. However this wasn't my first time, it wasn't even my second. I had been floating around in the light for what felt like an eternity, but I knew that once I woke up again, I would end up where I was supposed to be...

Zanarkand. The city that never sleeps. I stood on a building bigger that any I had ever seen in my early life, and looked out over the city. Next to me stood Auron, a strong battle-worn man who shared in my quest. It was sad really, a place as beautiful as this soon to be destroyed. I sighed and jumped down onto a nearby bridge below us and made my way over towards the nearby blitz ball stadium. A championship match was being played there tonight, and every person in Zanarkand that was anything wanted to be at the show. And so was Tidus. Tidus was the star player of the Zanarkand Abes, one of the two competing teams. He was also the son of a good friend of ours and we were send here to retrieve him. But before we could even enter the stadium, Sin had appeared far behind us and started shooting at the city. Sin was the greatest evil the world has ever known, but to me and Auron it was also an aid.

"Woah!" I yelped out as Auron pulled me away from some falling rubble. I thanked him silently and searched the crowd for Tidus. It wasn't long before I spotted his spikey blonde hair. He came running out of the stadium with the rest of the people, and spotted us almost instantaneously.

"Auron? Ana? What are you doing here?"

"You're late." Auron said. "We we're waiting for you." Tidus raised an eyebrow at him.

"What are you talking about?"

"You'll find out soon enough." I told him as we started making our way back into the city. The streets were pure chaos. There was debris everywhere and it didn't take long for us to be ambushed by Sin spawn. I pulled out my chakram's and quickly destroyed two of them. Tidus, having never been in battle before, tried his best to fend off one of the fiends, but fell on is ass after taking a hit. I chuckled and helped him up on his feet, while Auron unsheathed a red longsword he brought with him for Tidus.

"A gift from Jecht."

"My old man?" Tidus asked him, but before he could get a reply Auron started walking towards Sin.

"Hey! Why are we going this way?!" He questioned while running around us. I smiled and pointed behind me.

"Look." Tidus turned around and saw the giant water bubble floating behind us. Within that bubble was Sin. "They've called it Sin." Auron said as he continued his path forwards.

"Sin?" Tidus asked as we made our way through. "What does that mean? And why aren't we getting the hell out of here?" Auron smirked.

"Because we are expected."

"Expected by whom?" I sighed. Tidus sure asked a lot of questions. Thankfully, we had reached the end of the road by now. Auron and I jumped up to a nearby bridge, but before Tidus could follow us, one of Sin's volley attacks struck the street he was on. He tried to jump up to us, but was dangling on the ledge by one arm. His eyes widened as he saw Sin had caught up to us. I turned back to look at Sin for a moment. No matter how many times I was in its presence, I never failed to notice a certain familiarity coming from within it. Auron turned to look at it as well and spoke up.

"You are sure?" He asked, and then bend down to pick Tidus up by his collar.

"This is it. This is your story." He told him quietly. Tidus's eyes switched between Auron and me, as he struggled to break free from Auron's grip.

"It all begins here. Good luck." I told him as the three of us got sucked into Sin's vortex. On our way to another world…

I closed my eyes as I floated through that all too familiar light once again. I drifted into nothingness and wondered where we would be dropped off this time. Would we arrive there together or would we be separated once again? One thing was for sure though; there would always be water.
