In the dead fandoms, I'm apart of, I've seen many people do the "IPod Shuffle Challenge". It looked like fun and I love music, so I decided to try my hand at it. I'll probably do a part two, as well.

RULES:

1. Pick a fandom

2. Turn on your music player and put it on shuffle

3. Write a drabble relating to each song that plays. You only have a small amount of time to write the drabble - from the beginning of the song to the end.

4. No lingering afterward.

5. Do five of these and post them

1. Dear Theodosia - Hamilton

Benjamin didn't sing.

Lucy was a songbird. Her voice carried only pleasant notes. Before Johanna went down for a nap, she sang for her. Lullabies and sea shanties she learned from her late father.

It was night and Lucy was sound asleep. Upon hearing faint cries, Benjamin climbed out of bed, assuring his wife he would take care of the baby.

He lifted her from her crib, resting the babe on his chest as he sat. Benjamin rocked. Johanna continued to cry. He soothed. She didn't calm.

And so Benjamin sang. His voice wobbled and sunk, but Johanna was asleep.

2. Meant to Be - Anastasia

Johanna never needed to know how to dance. She never went anywhere and never would. There was no use.

She read about couples dancing in books. Soon-to-be lovers finding each other on the dance floor, swirling in graceful motions. Johanna thought to herself, "One day, that'll be me."

It never was.

"I dreamed of dancing with my husband after our wedding," Johanna admitted to Anthony, "I don't know how."

He went through the steps of a simple waltz with her. Johanna laughed at her mistakes. Once she mastered the dance, he whispered into her hair,

"We'll dance after our wedding."

3. A Girl In The Valley - Secret Garden

Lucy pushed a lock of hair behind her hair and wiped her forehead. She might not understand anything about gardening, but she was going to make this year's the best one yet. It was something she could do for her ailing mother.

"I'm sorry, miss?"

She turned around, greeting the man there with a smile. "Yes, sir?"

"I'm not familiar with the country and it seems I'm lost." He looked down at his feet to hide his blush. "Could you give me directions to the Tigg residence?"

"Of course, sir." Lucy stood. "Your name?"

"Benjamin Barker, miss."

"I'm Lucy Abberley."

4. Road to Hell - Hadestown

Mrs. Lovett's been traveling along the road for years.

Albert called it "the road to Hell". Mrs. Lovett preferred, "desire".

She's been traveling this road for years, as her recipe for pies gets worse. As her customers are chased away.

When she helps Mr. Todd get rid of the bodies. When she bakes innocent men into pies and serves them to folks.

The road is a long one.

It's not stopping anytime soon.

Mrs. Lovett goes along it when her feelings for Mr. Todd turn into something deeper. Darker.

She meets the end when he throws her into the flames.

5. The Abduction - Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812

Anthony doesn't get the kind of party Tommy got when he got married. He doesn't care. Their circumstances are different.

But his friends invite him for a drink the night before. Anthony goes, frigid with anxiety. He can barely get an ale down. Everyone else is laughing and teasing each other.

Anthony can only think of Johanna.

The plan won't go wrong. It can't. He'll save Johanna. They'll elope to France. They'll get married. Just like they talked about.

It'll be the two of them.

This isn't the party sailors throw their friends before they get married. But Anthony's nervous.
