Animorphs is the brilliant brain child of KA Applegate. She laid the foundation for a brilliant series and fandom, I'm just borrowing her characters.

Chapter 2-

We decided to scope out the site the following Friday. Two days of waiting, wondering what the yeerks were going to do. I've been in fight after fight, and waiting is always the hardest part. At school the next day I was so unfocused my teacher sent me to the guidance counselor, Mrs. Hitching. She was annoying, so annoying. I sat down in her office and she starts with the usual questions. How's life at home, how am I doing personally, all the junk that I can't tell the truth about. I grin slightly while she's talking. The thought of her reaction if I were to tell her the truth makes me laugh. It would go down one of two ways. 1) She would laugh and say I had an overactive imagination and needed to concentrate harder on my school work. 2) She would pull a dracon beam out of her desk and hold me at gun point until Visser 3 arrived to have me infested. I chose option 3. Keep my mouth shut. As I was leaving, Mrs. Hitching says something that sends a chill down my spine. 'Jake, if you're struggling with anything, anything at all, you really should come to a meeting of The Sharing. I'm a senior member, and we want to help troubled youths find their way to something bigger and better than they've ever dreamed of. I'm sure your brother Tom has told you about us before. We would love to see you at one of our meetings'. 'Yeah, I've been meaning to check it out', I reply, all the time thinking I'll go to a meeting of The Sharing when hell freezes over. The Sharing is a front for the Yeerks. They promise people everything. Friendship, love, money, you name it. They pull them in just enough to have them want to be what they call full members, and then they infest them. Almost every member of The Sharing is a controller. The bell rings for lunch, and I meet up with Marco in the hallway. 'Did our counselor give you any guidance, oh fearless leader'? He asks. 'Haha, yeah. Invited me to a meeting of The Sharing, so that takes any question about her out of my mind'. Marco's eyes widen and he says 'Oh. I knew something was off about her. What's for lunch? 'Garbanzo bean surprise'. He shakes his head in disgust. 'Oh it's a surprise alright. Surprising ingredients. Superman couldn't eat that stuff and live. It would be worse on him than Kryptonite'. I laugh at his joke. We each grabbed a bottle of water and went to grab a seat. Rachel and Cassie had a separate lunch time, so we just sat at our table in silence. We both knew what was on the others mind.

Later that afternoon, we all meet up in the woods by Cassie's farm. Ax has a small 'scoop' that's more decked out with tech than NASA. How he managed to get satellite TV and internet in the middle of the woods is a mystery to all of us. We don't ask. When we arrive, Tobias private thought-speaks with me. Jake, I've been watching the construction site all night and all day. Visser 3 came in at 3 A.M., and he's not leaving. He kept on talking about how close they were. Close to what, exactly, I'm not sure, but they are gearing up for something big. I just stare up at the sky. I really don't know what we're going to do, but I know we're going to do something. About that time Rachel and Cassie show up, and the first thing Rachel says is 'So why are we waiting to hit this place? I say we skip recon and go tear the place apart'. 'We can't, Rachel'. Cassie says. 'If we go in without knowing what we're going to find things could be really, really bad. We need to scope things out first'. 'Here here'! Marco chimes in. 'Calm down Xena. Not all of us want to flirt so closely with death that we can hear his bones rattle'. Death has bones? Ax asks. Is this Death a person, or is it sarcasm? Sarcasm Ax-Man. Marco is making a joke. replied Tobias. Ah. I see. In that case, hahaha. said Ax. 'Did Ax just laugh? Welcome to Earth! You may find our customs and ways strange, but laughter can get you through most if not all of our oddities'. Marco chimed in. 'So what's the plan, Jake? When are we doing this'? Rachel asks. 'Does anyone have anything to do tonight? No? Okay. Then let's go check it out. We can take shifts. Tobias, Ax, and I will go now. Marco, you Cassie, and Rachel take over at sundown. Get some rest, it's gonna be a long night'.

Ax and I morph seagull and follow Tobias to the beach. One of the advantages of morphing is being able to hide in plain sight. If morphing has a disadvantage besides the 2 hour time limit, it's dealing with the instincts of the animal. Seagulls are scavengers, and a beach loaded with people dropping delicious food is something very hard to cope with. Prince Jake, that round man just dropped a conical brown wafer! I must go retrieve it! No Ax, we're here to look around, not dine at the garbage buffet. Ax and food are a dangerous combo, especially when he's in his human morph. He eats anything, literally. Marco and I took him to a movie once. Never again. We were ran out of the theater because Ax was crawling on the floor eating food people had dropped. Like I said, he's dangerous with food. Fortunately, the construction site was covered in other seagulls, so we were able to blend right in. Tobias took a perch nearby, and we watched. For almost 2 hours nothing happened, so Ax and I flew to an alley and quickly demorph and morph seagull again. When we get back Tobias says Look who's on site now. We both flew over to take a closer look. Visser 3 and Chapman were walking into a half finished building. Other gulls were flying over, so we decided to try. WHAM! It felt like I hit a brick wall. I hadn't noticed the other real seagulls on the ground. Ax veers off after I fall, and says Prince Jake, are you alright?! The yeerks must have a holo-field up that stops anything that isn't a controller from entering. Don't call me Prince. I'm good Ax. Just a little banged up. Can you see anything, Tobias? Not really. All I see is the hologram they have up. It's a lot stronger than anything they have used in the past, even for my eyes. Oh great, I thought. Came to do recon and now we can't even do that! So what now? How do we see inside? Ax says, Prince Jake, there are two viable options. We either find the holo-field generator and dismantle it, or ask the Chee for help. Let's go with option 2 for now. Tobias, go get the others and have them meet us at Erik's house.

Chapter 3-

We were standing outside the home of Erik King, our contact within the Chee. The Chee are androids built by a long dead race of highly advanced dog-like aliens called the Pemalites. The last of the Pemalites crash landed on earth thousands of years ago, and their androids fused their essence with wolves, which created the first dogs. The Chee had seen hundreds of civilizations rise and fall. They are also experts on holograms. They use them to cover up their robotic parts, and appear human. Marco knocks on the door, and Mr. King answers. 'We wondered how long it would take you to come to us. Please come in.' Mr. King said. When we got inside, Erik came from their basement in full android form. Imagine a dog that's been taught to walk on its hind legs, but instead of being covered in fur, they're covered in metal and white plastic. That's what the Chee look like, and why they use holograms. Erik says 'Hey guys, we wondered when you would be stopping by. Our enemy is very, very close to doing something they have very, very little knowledge of how to control.' 'You already know what they're doing and couldn't think to give us a heads up?! Rachel asks. 'Rachel, we weren't sure what they were up to until a few days ago. You're here now, and hopefully we have time to stop this.' Tell us, Erik, what do you know of the Gadrahar? Ax replied. 'The Gadrahar were friends and allies to the Pemalites, over 500 thousand earth years ago. Both highly evolved, peace loving, happy peoples. They desired knowledge and joy over all other things, and made great strides in science, metaphysics, and, of course for the Gadrahar, magic.' 'Wait, did you say magic? As in real, not David Copperfield, full on Merlin style magic?' asked Marco. 'Yes, magic. The Gadrahar were alchemists and sorcerers first, scientists second. They were able to combine technology and sorcery to create things that no one had ever seen before or since.' We were all dumbfounded. Space wizards, for real. ' What do the yeerks have that's so dangerous? Are we talking Fairy God-mother uppity, boppity, boo, or something else?' I asked. 'Definitely something else. Much worse, far worse. The Gadrahar excelled at most everything, but their greatest talents lay in the arcane. Bending time and space to their will, creating creatures that only exist in legend, now. The first time they visited earth the Chee had already been here for millennia. They were worshipped as gods by primitive man, and at first they shared their knowledge with earth. Over time, the Gadrahar changed. We quickly found out that earth's atmosphere had a strange, slow affect on their physiology. They They slowly went insane, destroying entire civilizations and creating monstrous creatures that wreaked havoc all over the earth. We tried to reason with them to stop, but they wouldn't. Had it not been for the actions of the Gadrahar High Council and the Ellimist, earth would have been destroyed. They removed all physical evidence of the Gadrahar, and the Gadrahar High Council swore they would never visit earth again. Then during the Dark Ages a small group returned for a short time. The Chee approached them first, warning them of what had happened before and telling them they needed to leave before history repeated itself. This group listened to us, in part. They captured a small tribe of humans and were able to transfer their consciousness into the humans while their natural bodies were placed in bio-stasis for the duration of their stay. The great heroes of the legends of King Arthur and his knights, as well as the wizard Merlin, were all Gadrahar. Almost all were benevolent, except for a few. You know them as Queen Mabb, Mordred, and Morgan LeFay. They created vile creatures and even ruled over certain pockets of humans. They were taken prisoner by the others, and the Gadrahar left earth. What we did not know until a few days ago was that they left something behind. We are confident in our supposition that what the Yeerks have found is a hard-drive of Gadrahar knowledge created by Mabb. It contains both science and sorcery that have the potential to rip earth apart. It also contains what you will need to stop that from happening. We thought this knowledge was only held by one, but we were mistaken. The Gadrahar knew the secrets of time travel. That ability to leap frog through the centuries is contained within that book, and with it the Yeerks will be able to utterly destroy all that we know and love about this planet. We must retrieve it, and you must travel back in time to stop Mabb from creating it in the first place, or all is lost.'
