Simon stared at Luke, his jaw hanging. "You…"

Luke sighed. "Yes, me…" He looked at Jace and then in my direction. He clenched his jaw. "I guess you know now, Clary…"

I blinked to keep my eyes from watering. "Yes. Yes, I do."

Simon blurted, "Is somebody going to tell me what is going on? You are… you are alive…" His voice cracked at the end and I couldn't stop a tear from tracking down my face. "And what are you doing with Jace?"

I gasped and my eyes flew towards Jace. He looked away from me. I looked at Simon. "You know Jace"

He wiped a tear from his face. "Yeah, he visited me when I thought you were dead which you clearly aren't unless I am currently talking to your ghost."

I flinched at his tone. Jace visited him? I glared at him. He wasn't looking at me.

Luke's eyes widened and he started walking towards me but Jace stepped in his way and sneered. "Don't come near her."

Fury raged through my being. How dare he! I pushed him away. He opened his mouth and I sent a death stare his way. He wisely shut it as I turned towards Luke. The last time I had seen him…

Luke's eyes travelled me as if searching for injuries and then found my face. His eyes softened and I cursed myself for being affected by the warmth in them. I used to trust him like a father… "You have grown so much." He shook his head. "Are you alright? Why does Simon think you were dead? Is… Jocelyn… Does she…" he stuttered.

I looked away as my eyes stung. How could I tell him? It was my fault…

His whisper sounded. "No…"

A warm hand settled on my shoulder. I looked beside me to see Jace. I shrugged him off and ignored the flash of pain in his eyes. He had no right to feel hurt. I knew why he went to meet Simon. I could guess. He wanted to use him against me. That clever… My chest ached as I let out a shaky breath and wiped away the tears streaming down my face. I remembered the three sets of eyes that were currently focused on me.

I asked them to follow me to the corner of the street, much to Jace's dismay. I rolled my shoulder and summarized the events that happened these past few days, trying to keep the emotion off my voice. I looked away from Jace. The pity only further fed my anger. Luke wore a look that could only be described as pure rage and Simon… he looked clueless. I threw an apologetic glance his way. I could not explain him what was going on. It would be unwise to waste these few moments I had with Luke because I had a feeling we were going to part ways.

Luke shook his head. "You have to go back Clary."

I narrowed my eyes at him as he continued. "You have to hide. You can't let him find you!"

"But mom-"

"Don't- Don't go searching for her. She risked a lot to keep you safe… for her sake- please… please… don't let him find you…"

My lungs tightened and my eyes went wide. I clenched my jaw. Risked a lot to keep me safe… I huffed a laugh. He knew she had tried to kill me. He knew…

I composed myself. I wasn't only looking for her, I was looking for answers. I had to know what was really going on.

"What would happen if he found me?"

Luke's face paled but he didn't say a word. I asked again, my voice rising. "What would happen if he found me?"

He didn't meet my eyes. "I… can't tell you…"

"Can't tell me!" I sneered as violent warmth travelled to my palms. It was my life. They knew more about it than I did.

His eyes widened. "Clary…"

Simon whispered, "Clary…"

I looked down at my hands. They were on fire. My breath caught in my throat as I tried to shake it away. No! No, no, no, no…no…no…The fire travelled up my arms and I looked away. I couldn't be entranced by the flames again. I looked at Jace, his lips were moving. I was trapped in a bubble. I looked around and my eyes caught a shadow figure standing at the alley. What? It was too fast- all of it. I choked out a sob and everything went black.

JACE POV

She would never trust me. Not after what I did. I tried to pay attention to what she was saying but my mind kept drifting off to the anger visible on her face. She was easy to read, no matter how hard she tried to keep a neutral expression.

Lucian stuttered, "Don't- Don't go searching for her. She risked a lot to keep you safe… for her sake- please… please… don't let him find you…"

That caught my attention. I narrowed my eyes.

"What would happen if he found me?"

My heart leaped. I straightened up and my eyes widened. Don't tell her… Don't tell her… I needed to be the one who told her. I had so much to tell her. If she found out from someone else, she would hate me. She already hates you, a voice whispered in my head but I shook it off.

Clary repeated, "What would happen if he found me?"

"I… can't tell you…"

"Can't tell me!" She sneered and her palms lit up. My eyes widened. I looked around; grateful she had thought enough to bring us to a deserted street corner.

Lucian's eyes widened. "Clary…"

Simon whispered, "Clary…"

Her face was twisted in a snarl as the fire burned brighter. Her gaze went to her palms and her anger dissipated in panic.

"Clary…" I tried approaching her.

She started backing away.

"Clary… calm down- No- Don't do that. Try to vanish the fire from inside. Damn it!" I cursed. I knew nothing about magic. She had no control over it. Why wouldn't she train properly. A reasonable voice in the back my head told me it wasn't her fault but I couldn't stop worrying.

"Clary…"

She looked at me and then she fell. The fire went out and I reached to grab her. My hands tightened on her waist as I pulled her to my chest. I looked up and a silver-haired boy caught my eyes. I blinked and he was gone.

Who was that?

Magnus blanched at the sight that greeted him. I pushed past him and walked into the house. Footsteps sounded behind me.

"What happened?" Magnus asked and held his hands out.

"She panicked." I grudgingly handed Clary to him.

He checked her pulse and stiffened. My heart pounded. "What happened? Is she okay?"

Lucian ran his hand through his hair and Simon just stared, dumbfounded.

Magnus swallowed. "The blockage is effecting her… physically…"

"What… What is stopping her?"

He looked away. I clenched my teeth. "Magnus. Tell me. Right now."

He shook his head.

I paused. "Does this have anything to do with Valentine?"

Him and Lucian exchange a secretive glance and he muttered an apology and took Clary to her room. What did the warlock know that I didn't? Probably not much. I eyed Lucian. He was betrayed by Valentine, so he wouldn't go back to him. Perhaps, he could help us. He obviously cared about Clary. If approached the right way, he would agree. I shook my head and started to see myself out when the Mundane spoke up. "Is Clary alright? Is she hurt?"

I clenched my teeth at the obvious concern in his gaze and rolled my eyes. Now, he decides to speak up. "She will be fine. The warlock is taking care of her."

His eyes widened. "Warlock?"

I cocked my head. What was it with Mundanes? Did they all have a hearing issue? "Yes, Warlock."

"You mean like magic and all kind of Warlock?"

I snorted. "Yeah, with the added benefit of glitter."

I stalked to the door and looked back at him and Lucian. The Mundane… could be trusted but I wouldn't say the same about Valentine's Parabatai. I looked at Simon. "I'll be back later. Take care of Clary."

I shut the door behind me. What was blockage? I had to find it. I had to look up Jocelyn. She was my… I sighed. I couldn't let her get hurt…

CLARY POV

It was dark – and cold… so cold… My teeth chattered and my head pounded. Where was I? Wind howled and I coughed. I looked at my hand that was now covered in my blood. I had coughed out blood. Had mom finally poisoned me? Was I going to die now? I shivered. Killed by my own mother. How lovable must I be. I huffed out a laugh that soon turned into a cough. My throat ached. What I wouldn't give for some water.

I walked ahead and stumbled on my feet. I wished there was some light. I turned to look behind me and when I turned around, I saw light somewhere in the distance. I sighed and ran toward it. It grew brighter and brighter. I paused when I felt the heat radiated by it. It was a flame. My breath stuttered. I turned to go back but that path had a flame as well. I was surrounded by floating flames. No…

"You need to work harder."

I turned towards the voice and gasped as the person came into my view. It was the green-eyed boy; I've been having visions of.

"What do you mean?"

He smiled and stepped closer while I backed away. "You can't afford to be afraid of yourself."

I narrowed my eyes. "I'm not afraid of myself."

"Yes, you are. You are afraid of the fire, but the fire is you."

I cringed. He thought that I was fire? There was something wrong with these Supernatural people. One minute I'm this, other minute I'm that. I tried to lose my frustration. It didn't work. I took a deep breath and glared at him. "Who are you?"

He sighed. "You'll know."

My heart pounded and my voice cracked. "Are you… Are you Valentine?"

He was too young to be Valentine but asking never hurts.

His eyes flashed and he clenched his jaw. "No. Who I am is not important. At least not for now. What you need to focus on is your training." He paced across me and continued. "Your powers are blocked and I won't be able to hold onto the void for long. Just remember that your fear is holding the blockage together."

I held onto his stare. "What is the blockage?"

"Poison," he whispered as his voice started fading and the…void he called it started darkening.

I tried to hold onto it but the flames roared and I gave into the dark.

I inhaled deeply and blinked awake. What had happened? I gasped as memories of the vision… dream… came back to me. The green-eyed boy. Who was he? What poison was he talking about? And thinking of poison, did my mother somehow manage to poison me? I rarely ever ate at home and that too never without feeding a bird or a dog. That must have been suspicious to her.

I shook my head. He was a stranger. I should not take his words seriously. He could be working for Valentine. I thought back to when I had mentioned him and he had seemed angry. Perhaps, he wasn't working for Valentine but that didn't mean he could be trusted. I groaned. Get out of your head Clary. I had Simon and Luke to deal with right now.

What time was it, anyways? I jumped out of bed and grimaced as my knees cracked. I stretched and I tugged open the curtain to be faced with the dark sky. Today had been eventful. I took a deep breath, rolled my shoulders and walked downstairs.

I knew what I had to do… I could deal with it… right?
