Note: The idea for this story came from a dream, which turned into a 90 page story (still not finished though). I am very curious if there are people out there that think if I should continue.

Timeline: The story takes place a few years after the world created by Dlohov14 as described in Recordatus Caritate. I am in love with that world and most of my stories will be based on it. Short recap: Michael is alive, Varga has been pardoned and is now Selene's right hand. They all live in the mansion/coven and Selene, David and Lena are elders. I would highly recommend to read Recordatus Caritate!

Disclaimer: (Unfortunately) I do not own Underworld or any of the characters. New characters and the story idea are mine :)

Friendly warning: The pace of this story is a lot slower compared to other fanfics, mainly because the same event is viewed from different perspectives.

More than a dozen men blocked their way out of the city. Selene and Michael waited for the humans to either engage or run. They would never start the fight if they could avoid it. A few seconds went by with the enemy just staring at them. In the corner of her eye, she saw Michael clenching his first, getting ready for the fight. She too, readied her muscles for the action.

Focusing on the men in front of them, Selene was a split second too slow to react to the gun fire on the left of them and unable to avoid the bullet entering below her collar bone. She could feel the bullet enter her lung. Fortunately for her, she healed just as fast. That will hurt coming out, she sighed.

Selene and Michael reacted simultaneously and advanced towards the humans. Dodging another set of bullets, she easily reached the first couple men and took them out by breaking their necks. She rushed over to the men on her right when she heard the gun fire again. A few bullets hit her again, but the adrenalin nulled the pain. In response, her eyes turned their icy blue. Over her shoulder she saw Michael taking out the shooter.

She locked eyes with her new target and saw the fear on his face. He held a gun, but his hand was shaking too much to aim it at her head. Selene almost felt sorry for the guy, but she had long since learned it better to kill them instead of leaving them unconscious. Dead men couldn't ambush you again.

She quickly snapped his neck to make sure he was killed instantly. As he dropped to the floor, she felt a sharp pain at her side. She looked down and saw a knife sticking out above her hip. The hand attached to the knife broke it and left the blade in.

A hiss escaped as she felt herself changing into her hybrid form. Her eyes now white as snow. Selene turned to her attacker and made sure absolute terror was the last thing he felt. Instead of killing him as quick as the guy before him, she made sure she broke a few bones first. She wasn't proud of it, but she couldn't fight her instinct. Unfortunate for her, the human didn't last long.

Selene spotted movement in the corner of her eye. She moved in a blur but stopped mid attack. She recognized Michael standing there and stopped at his side.

'Everyone taken care off?' She asked.

'Yeah, bastards knew where we were!' Michael exclaimed.

'What the hell were they after?' Selene looked around to make sure there was nobody else attacking them.

'No idea. But let's go and make sure Eve is safe.' Michael suggested and they went on their way through the city.

Multiple patrols of humans were located in this city. Michael and Selene spent a lot of time dodging them, avoiding a new confrontation. They needed to get out of the city as soon as possible to reunite with Eve in the safe house and go back to the coven. Selene noticed it took more energy than it should and she felt her speed decreasing.

'Michael' she called. 'Wait…' She had to rest her arm against the wall, a very bad sign.

He spun around 'What's wrong?'

'Something's off.' She moved her shoulder. 'I need to get those bullets out. Cover me.'

She focused on the ones in her legs and arms. Since they weren't very deep, they were easy to push out. She moved on to the one in her side and shoulder and saved the one in her lung for last. Although the bullets were quite easy to remove, they caused new damage to the tissue and hurt more coming out.

She opened her eyes and saw worry on Michaels' face. He grabbed her arm and twisted it gently. 'Why isn't this healing?

She followed his gaze and saw a drop of blood slowly flow from the bullet wound. It should have healed right away. Something was definitely wrong. She checked the other wounds and they too were still open.

'The knife!' She just remembered. She exposed the skin where the knife had entered her hip, but no wound was visible. 'That last guy had the audacity to stab me with a knife. The knife broke off, the blade is still in there.'

'Keep it in before that starts bleeding too.' Michael said. 'Do you think it was coated with Nightshade?'

She thought back to the last time she was stabbed with Nightshade. The Nightshade almost instantly took effect by making her dizzy and within minutes causing pain and paralysis. 'No, I would have been completely paralyzed by now.'

Michael ripped up his shirt and started bandaging the wound on her arm and leg. 'These will keep them from bleeding too much, the rest I need bandage when we get back to the safe house.' He offered his jacked 'Here, wear this to prevent them from trailing us. Will you make it back?'

'Yeah, I will.' They locked eyes and both knew she was lying.

They were moving for about half an hour and the streets were passing by in a blur. Selene could only focus on Michaels' back. Her vision started to get black spots and her breathing got heavier with each step. Michael stopped at the corner of a street and Selene could no longer hold her own. She found comfort in the wall, big mistake. The black dots in her vision increased. She could barely distinguish her surroundings and started sliding down the wall.

'Mich…' Selene started, but her voice was cut by some serious coughing. She didn't need to see her hand to know it was filled with blood.

'Shit!' Michael hissed. She felt him check the wounds. 'It's getting worse, why didn't you warn me sooner?'

She wanted to respond, but all her energy was spent on not passing out. She felt something warm and soft and kept focusing on his sent to stay conscious. At some point, she heard his voice speak and the softness and warmth were traded for something hard and cold.

Her mind couldn't focus on anything else but survival, she had no idea where she was or what was happening. The only thing that pierced that focus was the excruciating pain that send her over the edge.
