I don't own any characters, except my own. Hadestown belongs to Ana?s Mitchell.

It had been who knows how long since Orpheus had failed the test that Hades set up and Eurydice was still working on the wall, just like all the workers of Hadestown. However, sometimes she would get more hungrier than usual. The young woman would get sick at the smells of the town, even though she should be used to them by now. At first, Hades and the rest of the workers paid no mind to it. However, it all changed when Persephone returned from above ground six months later. Still feeling guilty for her role that she played in unwittingly trapping the young woman, Persephone decided to go visit her. As the lady of the underworld reached the wall, she heard Eurydice throw up.

"Eurydice! Are you okay?" Persephone cried out in shock as she dropped her bags to the ground and rushed towards Eurydice.

"I'm fine, my lady. I just need to rest for a minute, that's all." Eurydice stated as she held herself against the wall, trying to convince herself of it.

Persephone looked skeptical, especially since she quickly realized that Eurydice's waist and belly had gotten bigger.

"Has this been happening a lot?" The lady of underworld questioned as she ushered the young woman away from the wall.

"No! I have to get back and build the wall!" Eurydice started to protest.

"I can deal with my husband! You need to rest!" Persephone snapped as she led Eurydice to a nearby bench and forcefully sat her down.

Eurydice blinked, Persephone had always been so kind to her. She was never one to get angry at workers like herself or get physical with them.

"Now, has this been happening a lot?" The goddess once again questioned in a much calmer tone. "I'm sorry, for grabbing you and making you sit down, I'm just worried you. That's all." She added.

"Yes." Eurydice answered, before she added "It's fine and only you actually care about me in this place."

"How long has this been going on?" Persephone inquired, as she tried to ignore her heartbreak for the girl.

"I don't know, but it seems to be happening almost everyday now." Eurydice replied.

"Come with me." Persephone said as she took the girl by her hand and led her into her rebuilt speakeasy.

"I thought your husband destroyed this place?" Eurydice questioned.

"I rebuilt it and filled it up with all kind of new stuff." Persephone explained as she began to look around for something.

Then, she reached into a draw and pulled out 5 pregnancy tests.

"But I can't be pregnant." Eurydice protested.

"Only one way to find out." Persephone replied as she held up the tests.

Sometime later, Persephone stormed into her husband's office with a frightened Eurydice just outside the door.

"Hades!" The goddess cried in anger.

Hades jumped out of his seat in shock.

"Lover! What's got you in a bunch?" He questioned.

"How could you keep working the girl to death when she is clearly pregnant?" The lady of the underworld demanded.

"Don't be silly, no one has children here. The only children that come here are dead ones." Hades answered.

"Then, how do you explain the symptoms of pregnancy and the fact that her pregnancy test came back positive?!" Persephone demanded.

A rare of surprise appeared on the lord of the dead's face before he asked "You bought a pregnancy test? Never mind that, do it again. It must've came out a false positive."

"Hades, I tested her five times." Persephone explained.

Quite possibly for the first time in his life, Hades felt completely floored. How could a baby continue to grow and develop inside the body of a woman who had sold herself to him? More importantly, what was he to do about this problem? Should he turn to the rest of the Gods for advice? Should he get rid of the child? Allow the child to grow? Adopt the child? Send it back to the surface?

Not knowing what to do for the first time, Hades's world soon went black.
