Janine blinked and raised her hand.

¨Sir, isnt the legend untrue?¨, she asked. It cant be true. Button Eyes is a myth. It is not true!. That was what she was thinking. But deep down, she knew she was lying to herself. The teacher grew quiet. Slowly, he turned and started to walk towards Janine. She dhrank back in terror, wondering what was about to happen. Mr. Miler stopped a couple of feet away from her desk. ¨No, Janine.¨, he whispered. ¨The legends are true.¨ Suddenly, he melted into a horrific, dark red monster with many sharp-fanged mouths... and a pair of shiny, black button eyes. Janine screamed and ran out into the hallway and out of the school.

She did not know how long she ran, but she ended up at the old town jail. Without thinking, she ran inside. The old jail was dark and damp inside. Rats scurried through out the cells, and the few working lightbulbs flickered. Janine saw writing on the wall of one of the cells. Curiosity overtook her and she went inside. She saw that the writing was jagged and written in...blood. She could just barely make it out. ¨Leave...while...you...still...can.¨ Huh?

That was the last thing she saw before she blacked out.
