Despair Arc: Execution Failed!

Chapter Eleven: Introductions and Revelations!

"Chiaki!" Sonia exclaimed as the Ultimate Gamer started to sway. "Are you alright?"

Chiaki gave a pained smile as Sonia and Hajime caught her, holding a hand against one of her wounds as she assured them "I'm al…alright. Guess the adrenaline must be fading…I think…"

"Quickly, Hinata-kun, let's sit her on one of the beds. She never should have been standing in her condition!"

Hajime nodded as the other members of Class 77 watched him and Sonia gingerly ease Chiaki to the bed. Chiaki smiled gratefully as she was lifted onto the cushion before being forced to lie down.

"There! Do you need anything else, Chiaki?" Sonia asked worriedly.

Chiaki smiled and assured her "Thank you, but I'm fine, really. Just exhausted…I think. Hey, Hajime?"

"Yes, Chiaki?"

The Ultimate Gamer glanced at her backpack and told him "I think my Game Boy is in my backpack. Would you want to play a game together? Just one more game?"

Hajime flashed back to when Chiaki lay dying at his feet before he shook the memory away. Tears trickled down his cheeks as he assured her "There will be plenty of time to play games from now on, Chiaki."

"I…I'm so happy to hear that, Hajime…"

"That reminds me!" Hajime turned to Sonia who exclaimed "We did not properly get to introduce ourselves. Now that the danger has passed, I believe now would be an opportune time to get to know each other." She glanced at the luckster and suggested "Komaeda-kun, why don't we start with you?"

Seeing everyone stare expectantly of him, Nagito sighed "Oh, if I must. I'm Nagito Komaeda. Nice to meet you."

Hajime did his best to ignore the venom in his voice as Hiyoko hummed before introducing "I'm Hiyoko Saionji."

Mahiru nodded approvingly as Akane greeted with a wave "Yo! The name's Akane Owari! Nice to meetcha!"

Hajime smiled awkwardly as Ibuki grinned and chanted "I, Buki, Mio, Da! Put it together and what do you get? Ibuki Mioda!"

Hajime sweatdropped as Mikan nervously introduced "M…My name is Mikan Tsumiki. Um…From the bottom of my heart, I hope we can get along."

Hajime smiled and greeted "Tsumiki-chan, I understand that your medical care stabilized Chiaki. You have my sincerest gratitude."

"Oh, th…thank you…" Mikan stammered, looking down in shame as the memory of pushing Chiaki to her doom flashed in her mind.

Mikan shook the thought away, holding back her tears of shame before Kazuichi bit his lip nervously.

"Name's Kazuichi Soda. I'm the Ultimate Mechanic. Nice to meet ya."

Hajime nodded, feeling slightly more at ease around the mechanic before it rose again at Gundham's cough.

"You may call me…Gundham Tanaka! Remember it well, for it is the name that will one day rule this world!"

Hajime sweatdropped before Nekomaru bellowed "I am the Ultimate Team Manager, NEKOMARU NIDAI!"

Hajime clasped his hands over his ears as Nekomaru's shouting seemed to cause his very hair to flap in the wind.

Once Hajime lowered his hands from his ears and fixed his hair, Fuyuhiko turned his head to the side and muttered "…Name's Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu…Just so we're clear, I don't plan to act friendly and shit with you, Hinata."

Noted… Hajime deadpanned before Mahiru gave a friendly smile.

"Let's see…I'm Mahiru Koizumi. I'll be counting on you from now on."

Counting…on me…?! Hajime bowed his head and vowed "I promise, I'll do my best to fulfill your expectations."

Mahiru rested her hand on his shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze before she stepped back and allowed Teruteru to speak.

"My name is Teruteru Hanamura. On the streets, I'm known as the Ultimate Cook…"

Before Teruteru could continue, Sonia interrupted "I know I already introduced myself, but my name is Sonia Nevermind."

With a nod, Peko quietly introduced "My name is Peko Pekoyama. It is nice to meet you."

As Hajime nodded, the Ultimate Imposter told him "I am the Ultimate Imposter. Don't concern yourself with my true name; simply refer to me by the name of whoever I impersonate at a given moment."

As Hajime reluctantly nodded, Sonia glanced over at the bound Chisa and explained "That over there is Chisa Yukizome, our teacher. Once we find him, we'll have to introduce you to our missing classmate, Ryota Mitarai. Once things are back to normal, I'm sure both of them would like to meet you properly."

Hajime nodded and introduced "My name is Hajime Hinata. I'm a Reserve Course Student, and I promise I'll try not to cause any more trouble from now on."

Sonia smiled and mused "For now, all we can do is wait and tend to our injured classmate and teacher until help arrives."

Chiaki nodded from her bed and hoped Let's just hope Kirigiri-chan can get Enoshima and Ikusaba put away…

"So, Kirigiri, explain why we were all summoned to the Headmaster's Office without warning." Byakuya demanded as he crossed his arms over his chest.

"Yeah, I was just waking up from a nap when I heard the announcement." Leon complained.

"Most peculiar indeed." Hifumi mused.

"Yeah, and why are Junko and Mukuro tied up?" Sayaka wondered.

"I must admit, I am curious as well." Celeste admitted.

"And why is Hope's Peak Security in the room too?" Hina wondered.

"Y…yeah…" Toko stammered. "Are they h…here to tie us up t…too?!"

"Nah, we were all probably called to receive some kind of award! I'm right, right?"

Everyone else sweatdropped before Taka cleared his throat and stated "Well, Kirigiri-san, as you can see, we all have questions about our presence here."

Kyoko nodded and began "Very well, then let us begin, shall we? I'm sure you're all aware of the riots and killings that have occurred as of late involving the Reserve Course?" As the others nodded, Kyoko continued "Well, the perpetrators who orchestrated this tragedy…are right in front of you."

The previously uninformed students' eyes widened in shock as she pointed at Junko and Mukuro.

"I'm afraid it's true. They also brainwashed a teacher named Chisa Yukizome, attempted to murder the 77th Class's Representative Chiaki Nanami, and brainwashed the rest of the 77th Class into following despair."

Makoto nodded, hesitantly explaining "It's true, everyone. Kyoko and I found Nanami-senpai bleeding to death in a secret facility on campus, and we just barely got her back in time to save her life."

"…As for the brainwashing…I can attest to that…" The others turned to Chihiro who explained meekly "I found a hypnosis video file on the computer system and reverse-engineered it to create an antidote. The 77th Class should be back to normal."

"…And Yukizome?"

Everyone turned to Munakata, who barely kept his neutral composure as his worry for his friend grew.

Kyoko sighed and explained "Enoshima and Ikusaba subjected her to a lobotomy to successfully brainwash her, so the antidote video only resulted in a Dr. Jekkyl and Mr. Hyde case. She'll need more intensive treatment in order to completely recover. Right now, the 77th Class is watching her in the Nurse's Office."

Munakata hesitantly nodded before Juzo interjected "Hey, Kyosuke, you want to see if she's alright, right?" The security guard smiled and assured him "It's okay, I can handle them now that they're tied up."

After a tense silence, Munakata bowed and wordlessly excused himself from the office.

"I'm afraid it gets worse, everyone." Kyoko placed the laptop in her arm on the side of Jin's desk and opened it before she explained "You see, there was a plan to shield us in Hope's Peak Academy, in case the worst were to happen."

"I see, like a shelter." Celeste deduced.

"Indeed, unfortunately, it was just what Enoshima and Ikusaba were counting on. Once Hope's Peak had been successfully repurposed as a shelter, they planned to execute the headmaster and erase our memories before throwing us into a Killing Game."

"WHAT?!" They all exclaimed, eyes widened in shock.

"Such a sadistic scheme is unwelcome in a school environment!"

Or any environment! The others deadpanned before Kyoko coughed into her fist and continued.

"I'm afraid it gets worse, everyone. Junko had prepared several motives in case the mere promise of escape wasn't enough to get us to commit murder. I was able to find one of the motives in the files that Fujisaki downloaded."

"And that would be…?" Jin wondered hesitantly.

"…They planned to kidnap one of our loved ones and hang the question of their safety over our heads as leverage." As everyone save Kyoko, Junko, and Mukuro turned pale, Kyoko began to read the computer file.

"For me, her target would have been my grandfather, Fuhito Kirigiri."

"Dad…" Jin muttered quietly before Kyoko continued.

"For Sayaka Maizono, it would have been her colleagues from her idol group."

"Ayaka!" Sayaka gasped in horror.

"For Leon Kuwata, it would have been his cousin, Kanon Nakajima."

"W…what did you say?!" Leon exclaimed incredulously.

"For Chihiro Fujisaki, it would have been her father, Taichi Fujisaki."

"To-san…" Chihiro cried in anguish.

"For Mondo Owada, it would have been Takemichi Yukimaru."

"…Shit…" Mondo cursed as he growled at the Ultimate Despair.

"For Kiyotaka Ishimaru, it would have been his father, Takaaki Ishimaru."

"Father…" Taka breathed in disbelief.

"For Hifumi Yamada, it would have been his younger sister, Fujiko Yamada."

"Oh my…" was all Hifumi could mutter, struck speechless by the revelation.

"For Celestia Ludenberg, it would have been her cat, Grand Bois Cheri Ludenberg."

"It is surprising what some people are capable of." Celeste stated, drawing shocked gazes at her underwhelming reaction.

After coughing into her fist to get everyone's attention, Kyoko continued "For Sakura Ogami, it would have been her boyfriend, Kenshiro."

Sakura's eyes seemed to flare in barely restrained anger before she growled "To target such an honorable man who's already fighting the most difficult battle of his life…there can be no forgiveness for you!"

Hina placed her hand comfortingly on Sakura's shoulder, helping her to calm down before Kyoko continued "For Aoi Asahina, it would have been her little brother, Yuta Asahina."

"Yuta!" Hina gasped, her hands covering her mouth in shock and horror.

As Sakura returned the gesture of comfort, Kyoko continued "For Byakuya Togami, after assassinating his family, his target would have been his butler Aloysius Pennyworth."

"WHAT THE HELL?!" Byakuya couldn't help but burst out in shock, unable to even imagine the possibility that his entire family could have been destroyed.

Kyoko nodded before continuing "For Toko Fukawa, it would have been her pet stinkbug, Kameko."

"KAMEKO!" Toko cried out, horrified that her only companion would have been in the line of fire.

"For Yasuhiro Hagakure, it would have been his mother, Hiroko Hagakure."

"OHHH NOOOOOOOOO!" Hiro cried out as he tugged at his hair.

"…Makoto Naegi…" Kyoko wavered as she glanced at the nervous luckster, hesitant to cause him immeasurable pain by revealing which of Makoto's loved ones Junko planned to target. No, he deserves to know, and this Enoshima and Ikusaba's fault, not yours. Kyoko sighed and continued "…Enoshima planned to capture three of your loved ones. Your mother, your father, and your little sister Komaru."

"No…" Tears of anguish and anger trickled down his cheeks as he glared at the Ultimate Despair, scowling as he growled "You planned to abduct my entire family?! How could you?! I trusted both of you!"

As Mukuro evaded his eyes out of guilt, Junko merely grinned and taunted "Aww, don't tell me you're mad at me, Makoto! I thought we were friends!"

"Of course I'm mad at you! Mad doesn't even begin to describe how I feel!" Makoto bellowed as everyone else seemed to take a step backwards, unnerved by how terrifying and intimidating their luckster was. "You start riots, get people killed, plan to abduct our families, and you expect me to pretend that doesn't mean anything and still be your friend after that?!"

As Makoto hyperventilated, Junko smiled in satisfaction while Kyoko stared sympathetically at her most treasured friend. As much as she wanted to, she refrained from going over to him, letting him calm down on his own.

A barely repressed sob echoed in his voice as Makoto finally spoke "I…I've gotta call my mom…make sure they're all okay…"

With shaky legs, Makoto turned around and wobbled out of the office, his heart pounding as his uneasy strides carried a sense of urgency.

"…'ll follow Professor Makoto's lead as well." Taka decided. "I should check in on my father."

"…I suppose I should call my household and inform my father to increase security…" Byakuya muttered as he followed Taka out of the room.

"I…I should see how my father is." Chihiro muttered. "I'm sorry."

"Perhaps I should check in on the home base as well…" Hifumi muttered as he followed Chihiro.

"I suppose it would be important to check in on how Grand Bois is under my parents' care." Celeste admitted as she followed Hifumi.

"I…I should check in on Yuta at home…" Hina decided.

"I'll come with you, I probably should call the hospital where Kenshiro is staying at…" Sakura offered as she and Hina left.

"W…wait for me!" Hiro cried as he ran after them. "I gotta call my mom too!"

"I…I should call my parents as well, see if Kameko is o…okay." Toko stammered as she followed them.

"I…I should text my idol group, see if they're okay…" Sayaka decided. "Leon, you coming?"

"Yeah, I need to check in on my cousin anyway." Leon agreed eagerly as he followed his girlfriend outside.

"…Hey, I gotta check in on Yukimaru and the other Crazy Diamonds. Later." Mondo told them as he bid farewell.

Now alone in her father's office with Jin, Junko, and Mukuro, Kyoko glared at Junko and growled "I hope you're happy."

"Oh, to finally see a look of despair on Luck Boy's smiling face?! I've bveen waiting years to see that! So worth getting captured!"

Before Kyoko could say anything back, Jin cleared his throat and glared at his students.

"Junko Enoshima, Mukuro Ikusaba, for inciting riots, conspiracy to kidnap, and multiple ocunts of attempted murder, you both are hereby expelled from Hope's Peak Academy. Juzo Sakakura, please escort them to the nearest police station so they may be arraigned properly."

"My pleasure!" Juzo grinned as he growled "Alright, let's go" before he circled around and hoisted them by their bindings.

Jin and Kyoko watched as Juzo dragged the two Ultimate Despair out of the room, allowing Kyoko to pinch the bridge of her nose and sigh under her breath "At last, it's over."

Jin nodded before he smiled at his daughter and suggested "Kyoko, why don't you go and check on how Makoto's doing?" Seeing her look of momentary surprise, Jin explained "I could see the worry on your face after he walked off. I'll check in on your grandfather and make sure he's safe, so why don't you tend to your friend? I'm sure he needs your support right now."

Even though she knew it wouldn't make a difference at this point, Kyoko regained her iron mask and nodded before wordlessly walking off.

"Oh, and Kyoko?" Kyoko briefly stopped, allowing Jin to smile as he praised "I'm proud of you. I promise never to take you off a case again."

Kyoko felt the briefest of smiles tug at her lips before she walked away, leaving Jin alone in his office.
