DM Margo and The Runaway Boulder Chapter 4

''Margo! What on earth were you thinking? You know better dan to go off somewhere without telling me, your mom or uncle! You put your sisters, three of the minions and Lucky in danger too! What if de boulder had fallen on top any of you?'' Gru scolded. "Dad, I can explain..." Margo stammered. "Gru, you know Margo can't help it, this ain't a good time to argue! She just wanted to know more about the boulder" said Lucy.

''Lucy, she shouldn't have left the mansion without telling us first, remember how worried sick you were when you couldn't find de girls earlier?'' Gru retorted. ''What about de boulder brother?'' asked Dru. Gru had forgotten all about it in the desperation to find the girls, the three minions and Lucky. ''Let's go and see where eet went!'' he said hurriedly, ''Margo, I'll deal with you when we get back to the mansion!''.

In the village, everything was peaceful with chattering and laughter. Then suddenly, one man could see the boulder roaring into the entrance of the village's gates. ''Everybody inside and take cover!'' he shouted urgently. The guards quickly shut gate doors just in time. Unfortunately, they were made of wood. "Are you sure these wooden doors are strong enough?" one guard asked. But the boulder was even stronger than wood and smashed straight through the doors, leaving a massive hole behind. "Nope," answered another guard.

Villagers avoiding the boulder, running and screaming. Gru and his family arrived just in time to see the boulder crash into a tower creating a huge explosion! Afterwards, everyone surveyed the damage. When the prime minister of Freedonia inspected the damage, he decided to close the area off. The looked at the boulder. ''We should have left this part of the country alone'' he said thoughtfully. They used a herd of strong bulls to move the boulder to another spot on the mountaintop.

This time, they made sure it couldn't fall down and roll away again. That night, Gru tried to think of a suitable punishment for Margo. At last he thought of something. ''Margo, you did a silly and dangerous thing today! I am so disappointed in you''. ''And so am I, young lady!'' said Lucy coming in, "Sorry Mom, Sorry Dad" said Margo quietly. ''So you have a choice of punishment, either I stop you going to dance classes or you have to do extra chores. What's eet to be?'' asked Gru.

Margo didn't want to lose her ballet lessons. ''Extra chores'' she said remorsefully. ''Let this be a lesson to you Margo'' said Lucy sternly. ''You'll do those extra chores until we can trust you again, for at least a week or two'' added Gru. ''Now go to your room and while you're in there, I'd like you to think about what it means to be a responsible eldest sister to those who are younger than you'' finished Lucy. ''Yes Mom'' said Margo.

Later on Margo sat in her bedroom, thinking about her punishment. After a while, Lucy came in. "Hi, Mom," Margo said softly. ''Hi honey'' Lucy said calmly. She sat down next to her daughter. "I'm sorry, I didn't listen, Mom'' said Margo, ''I was so interested in that boulder what uncle Dru kept telling me about. Who am I kidding? It's just a rock". "Don't be so hasty, sweetheart'' said Lucy, ''Your dad was tryin' to keep you safe because he loves you. I was wanted you to be safe, too. I love you more than anything I had in this world".

Dru came in on his way past, having overheard the conversation. ''Eet's very important to tell us where you're going Margo. Safety comes first, and dat means before one's own heart desire'' he said. Margo nodded. "Yes, uncle," she replied. "And believe me, dat boulder is very special," Dru went on. "Eet's not just about watching everyone. Eet also stares up at the night sky". ''Really?'' Margo asked, bursting into giggles. ''Yes'' replied Dru.

"Dat's why in Freedonia History, some people say it gazes up at the mountain's spot where it used to stand for ten thousand years, proud and silent. Now that eet's moved off, they gave it a new spot". "OK, Margo, time for bed," Lucy told her daughter. As Margo snuggled down into bed, she said, ''I'll try not to be so headstrong in future, Mom''.

"That's my girl'' said Lucy, kissing Margo on the checknight, ''Good night, sleep tight''. "Good night, Mom. I love you" said Margo sleepliy. ''I love you too, sweetie'' said Lucy, ''See you in the morning''. Margo is sure that on a clear night, it's gazing up at the mountain and that its size are being carried on the wind to where it once used to stand proud and silent. I wonder if Dru is right, don't you?
