The Heart's Desire

Chapter 6: The Final Task

Written by: KingSnow5092

The night sky was dark purple with white stars dotted across the background with a bright yellow moon above the world shining down on the white snow which sparkled like diamonds and the wind was nice and cool like a cooling fan but not too cold like ice but a right amount of cold air like a spring breeze. Stitch was still walking down the trail when he began to get tired, he looked around for a place to rest for a while until he spotted a large brown cave covered in white snow nearby which looked like Quickster's cave but was larger and abandoned. Stitch quickly ran toward the cave, peeked inside, used his night vision to see into the darkness checking to see if nobody was around, after he saw that nobody was around, he quickly went inside the cave, and made himself at home.

The inside of the cave was large with brown rocky walls, brown rocky floor, two small rocks to sit on, and a small pile of firewood in the middle of the two rocks next to each other. The cave was barren and empty like a dessert he was glad that this one was abandoned he didn't want to deal with another roadrunner alien for a while funny thing though is that roadrunners don't live in caves they live in nests but then again they were alien roadrunners and different species of aliens live in different places after thinking about that he walked over to the right small rock, sat down on it, took off his backpack, got out a lighter, turned it on, set the firewood on fire, and now Stitch had a small fire in the cave.

Stitch unzipped the backpack as he got out a pot with a handle, a can of spaghetti and meatballs, and a can of lemon lime soda. He set down the soda can next to him on the rock he then grabbed a food can in his right paw, he squeezed it until the lid popped off the can like Popeye does to his can of spinach, poured the spaghetti and meatballs into the pot, puts the food can back into the backpack, he then held the pot over the fire, after the spaghetti and meatballs were cooked, he placed the pot down the ground, grabbed a spoon, picked the pot back up, and he began to eat his dinner. Stitch ate the pasta very slowly normally he would eat things fast, but he needed to save some food just in case after he was finished with his pasta, he placed the pot down and grabbed his soda to drink.

After he picked up his soda, pulled back the tab as it made a fizzing sound, Stitch drank the soda until the can was empty, after that he sighed in happiness, he then let out a loud burp and giggled a bit. After he was done, he placed the items back into the backpack since the backpack was magical it would clean up the items for him by making the food and drink, he ate or drank disappeared into thin air inside the backpack Zeusfasa told him that a while ago as he was finished with lunch after he was done with the second task. Stitch yawned as he stretched his arms in the air he then went outside, grabbed a pile of snow, went back inside, and dropped the snow onto the fire putting it out quickly.

Stitch pulled out a blue sleeping bag from the backpack the sleeping bag had a blue pillow and blanket with a zipper on it, he placed the sleeping bag on the ground, unzipped it, went inside the sleeping bag, zipped up the bag, put his head on his pillow, and fell asleep quickly so he can feel rested for tomorrow's final task at hand.

Meanwhile in the dungeon of the fortress, everyone was fast asleep in the fortress even the experiments in the dungeon were sleeping except for one experiment Angel. Angel was in her cot, but she kept tossing and turning all night she could not sleep at all because she was too worried about Stitch coming here alive many negative thoughts came to her head what if Stitch had failed the last task? What if Stitch had been killed by Hamsterviel' s robot guards? What if Stitch was already dead and she did not know about! She tossed and turned some more she then got out of her cot and walked up to the window she looked up at the window wondering if Stitch was alright. She then decided to sing to make herself feel better, but she had to sing quietly so she does not wake anyone up especially Gantu or Hamsterviel.

Somewhere out there beneath the pale blue light

Someone thinking of me and loving me tonight.

At the same time, Stitch was tossing and turning he as well could not sleep either, so he sat up from his sleeping bag and looked out of the cave to see the bright moon shining down on the cave he decided to sing as well to make himself feel better as well.

Somewhere out there someone singing a prayer.

And we will find one another in that big somewhere out there.

And even though I know how far apart we are.

It helps me to think we might be wishing on the same bright star.

At the same time, Angel was still staring up at the window above her still singing.

And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby.

It helps to think we are sleeping underneath the same big sky.

Stitch and Angel both sang the song together as if they were in the same room together with the spilt screen in between them showing Stitch in the cave and Angel in the dungeon.

Somewhere out there if love can see us through.

Then we will be together somewhere out there.

Out where dreams come true.

Stitch and Angel then leaned their heads forward, hugged themselves, and made a kissy face pretending that they were hugging and kissing each other as the music break played in the background. Then they opened their eyes, got back into their original positions, and looked up in the night sky together as Stitch began to sing again.

And even though I know how far apart we are

It helps me to hink we might be wishing on the same bright star.

Back in Angel's cell, Angel looked up into the cell window and sang as well.

And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby

It helps to think we are sleeping underneath the same big sky.

Stitch and Angel both sang together again as if they were in the same room together but Stitch in the cave and Angel in the dungeon cell.

Somewhere out there if love can see us through.

Love can see us through.

Then we'll be together somewhere out there

Out where dreams come true.

After that Angel felt a bit better, she then walked back to her cot, moved the blanket, got into her cot, tucked herself in, and fell fast asleep she was unaware that Nosy and the other experiments were listening to her song they all had tears in their eyes. "That was so beautiful!" Nosy said sobbing a bit. "I know poor Angel I hope Stitch gets here soon." Amensio said. They all cried with both joy and sadness at the song after a while they eventually calmed down and fell asleep in her cot. At the same time, Stitch felt better as well he then laid back down in his sleeping bag and fell asleep. As this was happening back at the cabin, Zeufasa and Hammerleg watched what was going on. "That was so beautiful!" Hammerleg said he then began to cry.

The spider hugged the robot to which Zeusfasa hugged him back trying to comfort him. "I hope he and Angel get together soon." Hammerleg said between sobs. "Shh, it's okay Hammerleg, it's okay they will get back together with our help!" Zeusfasa assured him as he patted him on the back. The spider then stopped crying as he looked up to the robot with tears in his eyes. "Are you sure?" Hammerleg asked. The robot nodded his eyes. "Yeah! You're right they will get back together!" Hammerleg said with a smile on his face as Zeusfasa smiled back at him. Then Hammerleg let go of the robot he then jumped in the middle of the cabin as he strummed his guitar to the tune of "We're Not Going to Take It!" by Twisted Sister.

"They'll get back to together! Yes! They are getting back together! They will get back together right now! They will be back together! Yes! They'll be back together right now!" Hammerleg sang as he played his guitar. Zeusfasa rolled his eyes as he turned off the computer to get some rest. "Alright, it's time for bed." Zeusfasa told the spider. Hammerleg then jumped in front the robot which took him aback a bit. "We're not going to take it! NO! We are not going to take it! We're not going to take it anymore!" Hammerleg sang loudly to the robot as he played his guitar. Zeusfasa was shocked by this but then the spider backed away with a sheepish smile on his face. "I'm sorry I got carried away." Hammerleg said.

"That's alright just don't get carried away." Zeusfasa said.

"Yes sir!" The spider said as he saluted to him after that he walked toward his bed to go to sleep.

-The Next Morning-

Stitch awoke to the sound of birds outside of the cave when he woke up, he got out of his sleeping bag, stretched and yawned to wake himself up some more, and after he was fully awake, he walked toward his backpack to get some breakfast before going to his final task of the day. He sat down on the rock, unzipped the backpack, he grabbed a granola bar and a bottle of OJ, and began to eat his breakfast after a while he put the empty items back into the backpack. He then grabbed the sleeping bag and put it back into the backpack as well and zipped it back up. He then looked around the cave to see if he had forgotten anything after checking around, he grabbed his backpack, put it back on, walked out of the cave, and walked down the trail to his final task.

Stitch walked on the trail for hours until he eventually reached a medium-sized red brick wall with a medium-sized blue door in the middle he walked up to the door he reached out his hand to open it but then he heard his communicator going off he reached into his backpack and pulled it out he turned it on to Zeusfasa. "OK Stitch, this is your last task to complete in this one you must answer all five riddles correctly in order to go to my fortress." Zeusfasa explained. "No problem! I'm the smartest alien that Jumba created." Stitch said. "In order to answer the riddle, you must grab the item that is an answer to the riddle place it on the table next to the task guard and open the door in order to proceed." Zeusfasa continued to explain.

"That sounds easy!" Stitch said. Zeusfasa then shook his finger at him. "It won't be you see there are five doors each in the same doorway if you open the door after answering the riddle there will be another door there until you reach the fifth door after you open the fifth door you'll go to my fortress and have completed the last task! If you succeed in this task, then you'll have access to my fortress but however if you fail the task by either answering the question wrong as you open the door or just open the door without answering the riddle then you'll be frozen forever by magical freezing spell!" Zeusfasa explained. The blue alien nodding to him understanding the consequences for failing the task.

"OK, thank you for telling me I will pass this task, take back your fortress, and save Angel!" Stitch said. Zeusfasa smiled as he nodded his eyes. "Good, now good luck and be careful." He spoke. The screen then went black after that Stitch put the device back into the backpack, zipped it up, opened the door and walked right into the building.

Stitch looked around inside of the building he was amazed by the way it looked it was a large room with blue walls, blue floor, two long brown tables on each side of the room with various items on it, a medium-sized blue throne, a small brown round table next to the throne, and a large brown door at the right side of the throne room which was next to the right side of the table. He looked at the guard sitting on the throne it was a male blue owl-like alien with green eyes, purple glasses, a light blue beak, two pointy ears on his head, two blue wings, a round blue head and body, light blue feet, and a long blue owl feather tail. The owl alien was sleeping in this throne making hooting sounds as he did.

"WOW! That's a big owl!" Stitch exclaimed he then covered his mouth realizing that he was being too loud.

The owl stirred, woke up, and looked around to see who shouted he then spotted Stitch standing in the pathway to the throne the owl smiled at the blue koala-alien as he waved his wing at him. "Hello, you must be Stitch, Zeusfasa told me all about you." The owl said, waving to him. Stitch nodded his head to the owl. "Ih! That's meega, I'm soka for waking you up." Stitch apologized. The owl chuckled. "That's okay it was time for me to get up anyway." The owl said as he motioned him to come over to which Stitch did and stopped in front of him. "My name is Smarty." The owl named Smarty said holding out his wing to shake and Stitch grabbed his wing and shook hands with him. "Nice to meet you Smarty my name is Stitch and how did Zeusfasa tell you and the other two guards my name and about me?" He asked.

"Well, we have our own communicators with us just in case Zeusfasa needs our help and before you came, he told us all about your mission and how he was sending you to help us out with this problem we're having right now, and I must say that I'm glad he sent you hear somebody must teach that gerbil a lesson!" Smarty answered. "Wow!" Stitch said in amazement. "But anywhoo! It's time to complete your task and go to the fortress." Smarty said. "Yeah! Let us do this and Zeusfasa told me the rules and what would happen if I failed!" Stitch said. Smarty chuckled again. "Alright, here's the first riddle." Smarty said as he cleared his throat. "What am I? I am the mammal that can fly at night but I'm not a bird?" Smarty asked. Stitch ran to the left table and scanned for items for the answer of the riddle.

He looked until he found a small black bat plush toy, he grabbed the plushie and looked at it as he did, he then remembered that bats could fly at night and they are not birds but mammals that can fly! Stitch ran to Smarty and placed the bat toy on the table. "The bat! It can fly at night and it's not a bird but a mammal!" Stitch answered as he pointed to the bat toy. "OK, open the door and see if you are right!" Smarty said as he pointed to the door. He ran toward the door and opened to reveal another large brown door. "Very good you are correct!" Smarty said. "Takka!" Stitch said as he bowed to the owl. "One riddle down and four more to go!" Smarty said. Stitch ran to the owl alien and waited for another riddle.

"I always come every morning to brighten the world and every evening I leave to darken the world what am I?" Smarty asked. Stitch ran to the left table and looked for items for an answer, but he could not find anything, so he went to the right table and scanned for a while until he found a paper with a drawing of a yellow sun with a smiling face on it! After looking at it he now knew the answer it was a sun it always rises in the morning and sets in the evening! So, he grabbed the picture, ran up to the throne, and placed the picture on the table. "It's the sun because it's always shows up in the morning to brighten the world and sets when evening comes darkening the world." Stitch answered.

"Open the door to see if you're correct!" Smarty said. Stitch ran to the door and opened it to reveal another door. "That's correct, you're very good at this!" Smarty said. Stitch jumped up and cheered he got another riddle right. "Alright come back here for another riddle two down and three to go!" Smarty said gesturing him to come over and the blue alien ran back to the owl ready for another riddle. "What room has no doors or windows?" Smarty asked. Stitch ran to the right table looking for an item that is the answer to the riddle he then spotted a red and white spotted mushroom toy on the table he knew the answer to the riddle now he grabbed the mushroom toy and placed it on the table.

"It's the mushroom because it's a room that has no doors or window, but it's tastes great on pizza as long as it isn't poisonous!" Stitch answered. The owl pointed to the door, Stitch ran to the door, opened it, and it revealed yet another door. "Excellent! Three down and two to go!" Smarty said. Stitch ran up to the owl waiting for another riddle to answer.

"You used me to dry dishes but every time you dry the dishes, I get wetter, what am I?" Smarty asked. Stitch ran toward the right table looking for an item for the answer but he didn't find anything on the right table so he ran to the left table to look until he found a small blue dish towel after seeing that he remembered Nani washing dishes with the towel and when she was finished with the towel he put it in the laundry hamper to wash it when Stitch helped her out with the laundry he felt the towel was wet from the dishes that Nani had dried she explained to him about why towels get wet when someone dries the dishes using the towel he was amazed by the information that Nani had given him. Now he knew the answer!

He grabbed the towel, ran up to the throne, and placed it on the table. "It's the towel every time someone uses it to dry something it gets more wet." Stitch answered. Then he ran to the door, opened it to reveal yet another door. "Nice work! Just one more riddle to go then you will complete the task and go to the fortress to fix everything!" Smarty said. Stitch ran up to the owl and bowed him as he thanked him several times. "OK, I'm ready for the final riddle!" Stitch said as he clapped his hands. Smarty nodded. "Now I must warn you this last riddle is very hard if you solve it then you'll be free to go but if you fail then you will freeze to death!" Smarty warned him as he held up one finger. Stitch nodded and spoke. "I'm ready!"

"OK, here's the last riddle." Smarty said he then cleared his throat Stitch put his hand to his ear so he can hear it clearly.

"This is something special that everyone can have you can't buy it at the store but already inside of you, there's only one of it in the world but everyone can share it around the world, and it will make you warm and happy on the inside all the time, what is it?" Smarty asked. Stitch ran to the left table looked for an item to the answer of the riddle he then looked at the right table for the answer, but he found nothing that can answer the riddle he then sighed in sadness as he walked up to Smarty who looked at the blue alien with a concern look on his face. "What's wrong?" He asked. "I can't find the answer on the table and I don't know the answer." Stitch said sadly as he bowed his head in sadness. He never heard that riddle before and he had never had any experience with something that will answer his riddle.

Stitch sighed again well looks like this was the end for him when he opens the door he will fall into the water and freeze to death. Then Stitch looked up as he put on the brave face with his arm across his chest and spoke. "Well, at least I tried the tasks before me I may have failed this test but at least I did for Angel because Angel is my girlfriend and I love her!" Stitch said in brave tone. He then turned around the door in front of him as he sighed in sadness. "Well, goodbye Angel, I will always love you!" Stitch said as he stared at the door pretending that Angel can hear him. "That's right!" Smarty said as he lifted his wings in the air. Stitch looked at the owl in confusion. "What do you mean?" He asked the owl. "The answer you said you love Angel and that's the answer Love!" Smarty answered.

Stitch scratched his head in confusion until he realized what Smarty meant by that he then remembered that Lilo told him everything about love and even Pleakley told him about love before she met Angel and after he met Angel as well, he then slapped his forehead he then realized what Smarty meant he had an answer in front of him all along it was love! Love was the one thing that everyone can share, you cannot get it from the store, it is already inside of you in your heart, and it always gives you a warm feeling in the good way! Love is the answer! Stitch then smiled at the owl with a happy face. "My answer is Love!" Stitch told the owl. Smarty nodded his head as he pointed to the door, Stitch ran to the door, opened it, and it shown a doorway to the snowy trail to the fortress instead of another door this time!

Stitch smiled the biggest smile he had ever smiled it was a right answer he did it he completed all three tasks and he can finally go the fortress to save Angel and the other cousins and take back the fortress for Zeusfasa! Stitch jumped up and down in the air with excitement as he kept on shouting 'yes' several times and fist pumped in the air! Eventually, he calmed down he then turned and walked back to the owl. "Well done, Stitch! You have completed the final task and the last two tasks as well! Now you can go to the fortress and take back our kingdom!" Smarty said. "Takka and goodbye!" Stitch said waving to him. The owl waved back to him and spoke. "Toodle-whoo! Good luck and be careful!"

Stitch then walked out the door of the building after that Smarty laid back on his throne, closed his eyes, and fell asleep to finish his nap.

Stitch walked on the trail to the fortress he then heard his communicator beeping he stopped, he took out his communicator, and turned it on revealing the robot's smiling face. "Well done, Stitch! You did it! You passed the three tasks and proven yourself worthy to go to my fortress, you've succeeded where the others had failed, I'm immensely proud of you!" Zeusfasa said. "Takka, now I'm off to the fortress to save Angel and the other cousins also to take back your kingdom!" Stitch said. "Be careful Stitch, Hamsterviel is aware of your presence of being here, you have to sneak into the fortress in order to do that and he has many robot guards in front of the fortress you have to find the way in when you get in let me know so I can come to help you along with Hammerleg." Zeusfasa explained.

"Ih! Takka for the advice I can do it and I will let you know when I get there, I am going to needs all the help I can get! I'm ready to save Angel takka for all your help." Stitch said with a brave face and his arm across his chest. "You're welcome, Stitch, good luck and be careful!" Zeusfasa said. "OK, bye!" Stitch said. "Bye!" Zeusfasa said. Then the screen went black after that he put the communicator back into his backpack and walked down the trail to the fortress. "Hang on Angel! I'm coming to save you!" Stitch called out.

As he was walking on the trail, he was unaware that three Robo-Stitches were watching him from behind the bush they have been following him after he had completed the second task and third task without any of the guards noticing since they were robots the magic traps had no effect on them, so they passed by the task without completing it with no problem at all after they saw Stitch walked down the trail, they all then looked at each other. Robo-Stitch #1 held his arm across his chest, looked at his arm, and opened the panel in his arm which had a small black screen with a red button on it. He pressed the button and the screen shown Hamsterviel's face he looked at the robot with an angry glare and a scowl as well.

"This had better be important your stupid nuts and bolts!" Hamsterviel shouted at him.

"Sir, I have some bad news you see Stitch had completed all three tasks that Zeusfasa had setup and he's on his way to the fortress as we speak." Robo-Stitch #1 explained. "WHAT?!" Hamsterviel shouted as he jumped up and down in anger. "Not to worry sir, we'll kill him before he gets here." Robo-Stitch #1 assured. "No, you three will come to my fortress so you can guard the entrance of the fortress so he can never get in!" Hamsterviel explained. "Yes sir!" Robo-Stitch #1 said as he saluted to him. Then the screen went black after that he closed the panel of his arms and explained to his friends what is going to happen, they nodded to him understanding the plan. They ran into the bushes, so Stitch does not see him as they were following him to the fortress it was going to be a long day for Stitch!

A/N: End of Chapter 6. SWEET VICTORY! Stitch has passed three tasks now he can enter the fortress without any problems but unfortunely the three Robo-Stitches overheard the plan and are now on the way to the fortress to stop Stitch before he can reach there! Who will get there first Stitch or the Robo-Stitches? Stay tuned and find out!

Fun Fact #1: The part where Stitch is at the task of wits is a reference to King's Quest 2015 chapter 4 where Graham is inside the riddle room of the ice fortress where he must listen to the sphinx (who is Manny in disguise), find the item, place it on the pedestal, open the door, and go through! He must solve them right or he'll freeze to death! I thought it would be a nice reference for this chapter.

Fun Fact #2: The part where Stitch and Angel sang Somewhere Out There is a reference to the An American Tail where Tanya and Fievel sing that song about seeing each other again I thought it would be sweet to add that.

Review please, NO FLAMES, but criticism is fine!
