The Lion Who Faces.

The chimes could be heard echoing in the cold night, while the young lord of the Thundercats watched with a shattered heart as both lovers found themselves in each other's arms, fused in a loving kiss.

Why?

Because it had to be that way.

It didn't matter how much he tried, how much effort he put in, and how much devotion he devoted to him.

His brother would always get over him.

Tygra would always get what he wanted, what Lion-O longed for most.

The affection of her mother, the approval of her father, the respect of all Thunderian and the love of Cheetara.

That's how it had always been and that would never change.

She looked at the sword of Omens perched on her hip, and she couldn't help but wonder: Why had she chosen him, why not his brother? Tygra was strong and tough, and more than capable of bearing the burden of being a King very easily and even already had a future queen in his arms with whom he would rule prosperously.

"Perhaps, the sword is defective ...", he thought he placed his hand on said weapon, then returned his gaze to the two lovers in the distance. "Or maybe ... The faulty one is me."

He looked one last time at the cheetah and the tiger, then he left there trying to be silent so as not to disturb the couple. Heading through some bushes, it didn't take him long to reach a clear clearing, where, leaning against a tree, he gazed at the starlit sky.

The memory of the kiss between Cheetara and Tygra was still fresh in his mind, as if he had been marked there with fire, he felt destroyed and very dejected, Lion-O did not need to look in a mirror to know that his face was only a deep sadness and desolation.

He didn't know how long he was there, sitting deep in his own messy thoughts and his aggrieved feelings. But it should have been hours, for he could see the first rays of the sun peeking through some mountains.

Getting up from where he was standing, he walked lazily towards the village where he would not only have to face questions from his close associates about where he had been all night, but also the happy new couple.

Nothing would be as before, everything would change and the young lion cub did not know if he could face the challenges that were to come.

But… He must have tried.

He was Lion-O, son of Claudus, new King of Thunderian, Lord of the Thundercats, and Bearer of the Sword of Omens.

Everyone was counting on him. And he would not disappoint them.

Maybe he wouldn't get over his older brother, Tygra. But if he could surpass himself and become stronger, wiser, tenacious and capable of wearing the King's crown.

"I do not know if you have chosen me of your own free will ... Or if you should have been wrong to do so." Lion-O said raising the sword in his hand up to his eyes, "But what I do know is that regardless of your choice, I would still be here, fighting and fighting whatever comes, looking for the stones to be able to stop Mumm- Ra and restore my home. "

Returning the sword back to his hip, the young lion kept walking.
