Chapter 5

I didn't have to turn around to know who it was. I bent my head forward as footsteps approached me from behind.

"Leave me alone," I whispered.

049 chuckled lightly, "My dear, why would I do that? I've been waiting for you ever since I met you that day your parents brought you in."

"Why would you hurt my brother?" I snapped.

049 sighed, "He wanted to keep you away from me, my dear. I can't allow that."

I shot up and turned sharply on 049, "He wanted to keep me safe! And all he got was beatings as a show of gratitude!"

049 was a full head and a half taller than me, but I didn't care. He hurt my family, and nothing he said could make me forget.

049 stared at me, "It doesn't matter now, you're here now, and now you're mine forever."

I snarled, "I don't want to be yours! You kill people, and you hurt my brother!"

049 still stared at me, "Hailey, stop resisting, I only-"

I didn't give him time to finish. I shoved him backwards and grabbed a knife from the operating table nearby, leaping onto him with it raised.

"Leave me and my family alone, freak!" I cried, stabbing him in the stomach. The blade cut deeply, and blood began pouring from the wound. I raised the knife again, but before I could stab, something yanked me away, and when my head hit the floor with a sickening thud, the world went black.

035 looked down at my limp body on the ground, then back to 049 who was getting up.

"She's a fighter, for sure," 035 said.

049 looked at him, then back to me, "This may be more difficult than I thought, but not impossible." He lifted me up and leaned me against the wall. He pulled the chains attached to the wall and cuffed my wrists, neck, and legs.

"What is that for?" 035 asked.

049 smiled, "To keep her from leaving, of course."

035 raised an eyebrow, then looked to Adam's body, "What about him?"

049 nudged Adam with his foot, "We'll just keep him here, we can use him to keep her under control."

035 smiled, "Brilliant."

"Has 079 located Robert and Clara?" 049 asked.

035 scratched his head, "They're by Gate B, apparently waiting for news of their children."

049 nodded, "Little do they know they won't be coming back, at least not in the way they intend."

I woke up in the corner of the room on what appeared to be a makeshift bed. I felt something around my neck, and realized I was chained to the wall. I looked around frantically and spotted Adam held to the wall, chained by black tendrils around his wrists, chest, and legs. I scanned the room, and spotting no SCP's, tried to call him.

"Adam?" I whispered as loud as I could. He groaned and slowly opened his eyes.

"Hailey?" He asked. His face was still bloody from the gash, and I'm sure his back was staining the wall with his blood from the wounds.

"Are you OK?" I asked.

"I've been better. What about you? Did the SCP's do anything?" he asked weakly.

I grimaced, "049 was being a jerk and called me 'his'. I stabbed him in the stomach, so hopefully he died."

Adam laughed hoarsely, "That's my little sis. Did they hurt you?"

I shook my head, a lie that I had to tell, "No, he didn't."

Adam nodded and closed his eyes, "Good."

I stood up to test the chain's reach. I was able to walk forward a good 5 feet before I reached the limit and had to walk back. It was humiliating to say the least. I wish we hadn't come, otherwise we'd be living a normal life and not as literal prisoners of the SCP's. I wished Mom and Dad were here, I could use some comforting words right about now.

"Good morning, my dear," 049 greeted cheerily as he entered the room, followed by 035 and a teenage girl who seemed confused about my presence there.

"You're still alive," I frowned, "Shame."

"That's no way to greet your future spouse," 035 said. Adam's eyes shot open, and my heart skipped thirty beats.

"There's no way in hell I'm getting anywhere near you freaks, let alone marrying you for Christ's sake. I'm barley an adult!" I cried out.

"049, mind explaining what's going on?" the girl asked. She had long blond hair a shade darker than mine, and green eyes the color of leaves.

035 grimaced, "Oh, right. Hailey, this is Iris, also known as SCP-105. She's SCP-073, or Abel's, girlfriend."

"Pleasure," I said darkly.

"049, you haven't answered my question. Why is there a human girl and a boy here?" Iris asked.

"My apologies, I forgot to explain. You know the Robert and Clara Baxter, correct?" 049 asked.

"You mean those two terribly rude doctors who hate us all?" Iris asked. Adam and I exchanged concerned glances.

"Yes, them. Robert and Clara have ties with the 05 Council, the humans responsible for this place. It just so happens that these two children here are their son and daughter, Adam and Hailey, and our plan is to use them as leverage to escape this place."

"You're using us to get our parents to let you out?" Adam asked weakly, "Are you on drugs?"

I snorted, turning away so no one could see my laughter.

035 rolled his eyes, "Yes, Adam. I hope you also know that with you two as hostages, we can get anything we want."

"Our parents aren't stupid, they won't let you out for all the money in the world," I snarled.

035 chuckled, "But they will. What you may not know is that you and your brother have a certain ability that makes you invaluable to the Foundation."

"Yes, let's throw stupid lies in our faces about us having magic powers. That's exactly how we start friendships," I frowned.

"It's not a lie, and I am not 'starting a friendship. You both have the ability to take away powers, including ours," 035 frowned.

"So why not just kill us?" I asked.

049 shook his head, "Why would we do that? It wouldn't accomplish anything we wish to accomplish."

I sighed and curled up against the wall, "Just go away and leave me alone."

The three SCP's exchanged discontented glances and left through the door. I looked down at my hands. If we had these "powers", why didn't our parents say something? Surely they would've mentioned it once before...unless they weren't aware either.

"Hailey?" Adam asked. He seemed stronger, most likely due to whatever medicine he was given.

"Yeah?"

"We should escape when the SCP's are asleep and go to find our parents. They can't be released, the world won't survive their rampages."

"I wish Adam, but I'm chained up here, and you're no better off."

Adam looked at the chains on my wrists, and closed his eyes, trying to see if he could will them to open, "Hold on."

I sighed and leaned back. Even if we did somehow have abilities, there was no way we could use them on such short notice. But Adam was determined, and I admired that about him. I closed my eyes and listened to the sound of pleasant and peaceful silence.

Then there was a click.

"I don't know how you're planning on getting Hailey to like you, 049," 035 said as he, 049, 096, 073, 105, and 106 chilled in the cafeteria.

"She will, I have my ways," 049 said, fingering with a syringe filled with glowing green liquid.

"Why do you two have to torture everyone in this place?" 105 asked.

"The humans have done nothing but make our lives miserable. I'd say 'torturing them' is letting them off easy," 073 growled.

"But they're just kids, barely even adults. God knows what their parents will do when they find out what you two did," 105 glared at 049 and 035.

035 shrugged, "And that is why they won't ever find out. As far as Robert and Clara are concerned, their children died by a Class-D or something."

Suddenly there was a sound of running footsteps. The SCP's turned toward the door only to see Adam and Hailey race past.
