Ah, Trollberg, a peaceful city surrounded by walls. The sun was rising and together with the cars and the soft breeze, the birds were singing… well, until a certain someone breaks the melody with the distinct sound of a crow.

Raven, which didn't had a very creative name, neither a good voice was the author of the disruption.

He lived on an apartment on the city center, and was currently sitting on the balcony, sipping cocoa and well, disrupting other birds. Why he lived in an apartment? Well, he was considered a pet.

Not that he liked to be called a pet.

He kept breaking the symphony regularly until someone entered the balcony, a girl, not much older then 9 walked in, wearing slightly oversized pajamas.

K- What… Are you doing?

R- The usual.

K- Oh…. Mom said that you should stop before the neighbors send a noise complaint.

R- So when the birds do it, its singing, but when I do it, people send noise complaints?

K- We have been over this, and you know your singing skills are terrible.

He looked away as he took another sip of the drink, sitting on a chair and sending a 100-yard-stare to the boys on the street.

K- Mom didn't wake me up for school. Did she told you anything?

R- Perhaps.

K- Can you-

R- Not feeling like it.

K- Ok…. I will get some cereal.

R- Bring a bowl to me as well.

K- But you can do it yourself…

R- Yeah, but the sun only hits this chair about 20 minutes a day and you are already standing.

Kaisa went to the kitchen and started to make the two bowls of cereal and milk, bringing one to her "pet". Well, she didn't consider Raven as much of a pet, he was more of a family member at this point.

Not even her mother knew exactly how the two still friends, since they don't come along many times. This can go from simple things, like who gets what blanket, to the answers on a test that was already corrected.

After she was finished, she walked up to the bird and handed him the bowl as he placed the empty mug on the nearby table and began eating.

K- Now that I spoiled you, can you tell me why my mom didn't wake me up? And why she left earlier?

R- Something about her job, she said it's "soul crushing" and that "her mind state is in ruble", you know, what she says all the time, yada yada yada, depression, etc.

K- That… sound serious….

R- Meh, she does that every time, you know her, she can take it.

K- I don't know….

R- Hey while you are at your moral dilemmas, mind taking the mug to the kitchen?

K- Can't you do it yourself? The sun is not even touching the chair anymore….

R- I'm lazy.

K- At least you are self-aware.

Kaisa took the mug and took it to the kitchen as requested, she was usually very kind and Raven didn't hold back in abusing that for extra comfort.

It was a perfect, unchanging balance that if Raven was a little more lazy, or Kaisa was just ever so slightly less kind, their relationship would collapse.

Same could not be said for her mother.

Johanna was… stressed constantly, she was in her thirties and felt like she wasted all her life already, Raven didn't help on that.

The bird had a natural resistance towards her, they just never got along very well. I mean, no one would be pleased if their daughter brought inside a talking raven that never helps.

She tried booting the bird out multiple times, from annoying him to hell to locking him outside, however it never succeeded.

She was also constantly overworked and has been discussing moving away, without many positive responses. Kaisa had a story with the city and was very attached to it, while Raven's main concern was commodity.

After changing herself, Kaisa ready to start the day, she already lost the chance to go to school, so she could stay home and play a game, or go for a walk in the park… tho she didn't enjoy much of the outside.

K- So… Any plans?

Raven looked at her and starched, falling back on the chair and his back let out a almost inaudible "snap".

R- Not much, was hoping it would be a warmer day.

K- It barely started.

R- Yeah… how about you? Any plans?

K- I wanted to finish reading my book.

R- The witchcraft one?

K- It's not witchcraft, it's mystical arts and we talked about that.

R- Kaisa… It's witchcraft.

K-…. Yeah… It is. Now if you excuse me I have some studying to do.

R- Why are you so invested in that?

K- Have you ever tried it? It's hard, takes time!

R- Kaisa, I am alive for longer then this city exists. There is nothing you can't do with a slight bit of will and half a brain.

K- Why do you constantly shame my interests?

R- I am not shaming your interest, I am telling you are a weirdo and studying something that made people be burnt alive instead of focusing on a good career.

K- That IS shaming.

R- And?

K- I'll be in my room.

Kaisa went back inside and slammed the door shut. Raven had the extremely regular habit of hating witchcraft, and that was a very… conflicting element on their relationship.

The bird was interrupted by a small rock flying barely over the railing and hitting the wall.

Raven wasn't exactly a bird of many friends.

Mainly a boy, that had a particular hate for him after a relatively traumatic experience, he hated him and Kaisa for many reasons and constantly tried to stone their house.

Raven simply looked down, unimpressed as the boy stared back at him.

R- Wusup?

T- Shut up! Talking now won't fix the embarrassment you caused me!

Raven simply backed off and another rock flew by.

While at that, the door opened, which was a surprise… the more surprising detail was that Johanna was smiling and back from work early… smiling.

R- What are y-

J- I have a day off!

Kaisa entered the living room with clear excitement.

K- wait, really!?

J- Yeah, actually I planned a small vacation.

R- No.

J- Yes, my boss finally gave me a break.

K- Sweet! Where are we going?

J- Well, I would like to keep it a surprise…

R- I hate this.

Johann agave him a smirk while hugging her daughter.

J- just like the old times.

K- Yeah!

Raven could help but shiver at the very idea of leaving home.

As Kaisa ran back to her room to start packing bags, Johanna and Raven were left awkwardly staring at each other.

R- I am not going.

J- Look, I know we hate one another and we plan on stabbing the other while they sleep, but Kaisa thinks we are a big happy family, she made that weird thing on father's day because her dad left us and she sees you as a father thing…. And she will get all whiny if you are not in so… please just… two days.

R- Two days…

J- Yeah just two days, so Kaisa won't get whiny.

R- …fine- he said reluctantly.

And with that, the prescription for chaos was made.
