Doctor Barbara Minerva had been into stories of Greek mythology and warriors ever since she was a little younger but remembered how cold and uncaring her wealthy father was towards her and her interests. He thought that it was a waste of time and her time was better spent studying and through her play weapons into the fire; she left home as soon as she could to study her passions and had legally changed her surname to her mother's maiden name to do her best to distance herself from him; even though she still felt the effects of being raised by him.

She had become a professor of archaeology at a university when she was called in by the US Military for her expertise in Greek mythology; they found Diana having come to them and could speak ancient Greek wielding a sword and wearing a swimsuit like leotard with golden armor plates based on the US flag colors as well as a golden tiara with a red star as well as red and white boots with silver bracelets. She claimed to come from magical island of Amazon warrior women to her dismissal; thinking that despite the arrival of the alien Superman they shouldn't just believe every claim that they hear.

However the effects of her golden magic Lasso of Truth on them helped verify her story and Diana had become the famous superhero known as Wonder Woman who would helped found the justice League and fight all sorts of monsters. Barbara was one of her closest friends and Barbara found it adorable how she first took in the wonders of the world outside her home of Themyscira but showed herself as a confident determined warrior for truth and justice as well as having nothing but kindness and love in her heart even as she fought like a warrior. Not only that but she was easily the most beautiful woman that she had ever seen and going about in her regalia showing off a body that models and bodybuilders would be jealous off.

However she was also insanely jealous of Diana due to how perfect she seemed to be and wished she had her strength and confidence; plus a hidden desire to see the secrets and artefacts of Themyscira.

In an expedition she came across an African tribe that worshipped a plant god by the name of Urzkartaga and came across the magical dagger that would choose a champion and bride for Urzkartaga known as the Cheetah. She ended up being struck by it and due to being 'impure'; the effects of its powers showed her inner darkness. Her jealousy and desire for the secrets of Themyscira overrode herself as she grew fur and gained the strength, speed and agility to fight Diana in a fight. She would end up being one of Diana's most persistent enemies as she tried to save her but to Barbara; she thought that there was no helping her now.

After years of fighting and teaming with other enemies of Superheroes including working for Lex Luthor in his Legion of Doom; she had to face that she hated what she had become thanks to this curse and missed her friendship with Diana. She finally let Diana help her and they managed to get the power and curse under control.

There was nothing but comfort from Diana as she cried about the time wasted hating Diana as well as herself for what had happened to her. Their friendship was restarted and Diana helped her adjust as Barbara was not sure about joining her as a superhero. After some months they felt their inner feelings towards eachother grew as Barbara knew that it was not merely platonic love that she felt towards Diana before she was cursed as the Cheetah.

Seemed that Diana felt the same way...

Barbara in her black shorts and crop top smirked as Diana came to their room in the Themysciran Embassy and pounced; taking her head in for a passionate kiss as her free hand explored the areas that Diana's regalia didn't cover. "All the time wanting those treasures that Themyscira had but now I have here their greatest treasure; the Greek gods done their best work ever when they brought you to life and made you absolutely perfect." Barbara told her in the few seconds she let Diana free and meant every word that she had said; unfortunately it didn't mean much since thanks to her years of study she knew exactly what the Greek Gods were life. Plus what their supposed greatest hero Hercules had done to Diana's sisters on her island as well as her mother Hippoltya.

"I am saddened by what Urzkartaga had done to you but I have to be honest in saying that I like how playful you are now. Make no mistake that I would have been perfectly happy to be with you before the curse was put on you." Diana told her and Barbara put on a small smile. She didn't feel bad at all for what could be considered adultery since the Cheetah was meant to be Urzkartaga's bride as well as Champion. "I have been looking into the tribe that worshipped him and it seemed that previous Cheetahs before being slain lasted far longer in their life span as if it made them ageless. You think that you would be fine if your appearance can't be reversed." Diana asked slowly and Barbara sighed.

"I have basically made my peace about being stuck like this for my entire life but its well worth it if it meant spending an immortal life with you Diana." Barbara told her with a smile which Diana returned and was taken by surprised as Barbara lightly shoved her onto the bed. Barbara then got into her lap and started purring much to Diana's amusement.

"Being with you forever is appealing to me as well." Diana told her as Barbara took her head to kiss again; Barbara was thinking about things to discuss with her later like if they planned on getting married then going to her father to tell her that going against what he tried to raise her with ended well for her and she was to stay away from the wedding. That was for later and kissing her amazing girlfriend should be the focus of her thoughts than giving that man any thought space at all.

The title is inspired by one given to me by Aragorn_II_Elessar so credit goes to him. Based on comic origins for Cheetah as well as the one from DC Rebirth and more particularly the Year One storyline which I seriously consider to be the best version of Wonder Woman's origin in the comics.
