Monty and Sibella had been delighted to see the crimson line that connected them at a young age. But neither of them had told the other about the second string. Always with them, it would stretch out of the room they were in and into the world. But what lay at the other end of it remained a mystery for many years.

"Oh!" A slight exclamation from behind Monty caused him to turn. The beautiful brunette that stood on the other side of the swing held her hand to be slightly extended towards him. From her smallest finger there was a red thread, the other end of which seemed to be tied around his. Phoebe smiled at him, and from that moment he knew that he was smitten.

Miss Phoebe D'Ysquith was confused by the expression of horror on the face of Mrs. Holland. Their hands had met, and both women realised that the thin red line connecting their fingers was visible despite their gloves. Phoebe gave a small smile as they continued their polite introduction, but the blonde's face remained as a mask, revealing nothing of her emotions. Lady Eugenia D'Ysquith remained oblivious to the occurance that would change the lives of both the women forever.

"Did either of you ever tell anyone?" Phoebe asked. She looked first at Sibella, then turned to her other side to Monty. The brunette lay sandwiched in the middle of the bed, with one of her lovers on either side.

"About what, dearest?" questioned Sibella.

"About having two strings." The blonde smiled and took Phoebe's hand in hers, pressing a kiss to it.

"I never spoke a word about it to anyone. Until this happened, with the three of us." Sibella's voice was barely more than a whisper, as though she were telling a secret.

"And you, my love?" Phoebe turned her attention to Monty on her other side, though she kept a hold of Sibella's hand.

"I never told anyone before the two of you. Part of me was afraid to, afraid that I would stand out or be looked at differently."

"Well, we're safe here," Phoebe murmured, leaning over to kiss her husband. she held her hand up to look at the thin red strings extending out to either side. Sibella's hand joined hers momentarily, and Monty's followed soon after. They stayed in bed for a long while, all of their fingers intertwining, each of them indescribably grateful to have found both of their soulmates.
