Warbird

(War Machine + Robin)

Name: Tim "Rhodey" Rhodes

Biography: Despite supposedly being a lone wolf, Iron Bat (Iron Man + Batman) is recognized for his friends just as much as his foes. The most notable of which is his sidekick, Warbird.

The Warbird name has been passed down to various youths who fought by Iron Bat's side; starting with the blind ex-acrobat Dick Murdock, who grew up and became the guardian angel of Hell's Kitchen, Devilwing (Daredevil + Nightwing). Tony built the original Warbird armor just for him, but he discarded it when he set out to find his own identity.

Eventually, Tony gave it to the second and arguably most volatile Warbird, Jason Barnes (Jason Todd + Bucky Barnes), better known as Bucky. Jason's partnership with Iron Bat came to a tearful conclusion when Jason was lured into a trap by the Titanium Joker (Joker + Justin Hammer), beaten with an inch of his life, and then left for dead with a ticking time bomb. Iron Bat tried to save him, but it was too late.

The death of his son nearly broke Bruce, and Iron Bat became more brutal, more reckless, and more impulsive. Bruce brought the last two Warbirds under his wing because he felt that they needed him. But the next one would come because it was clear to see that Iron Bat needed Warbird.

Enter Rhodey. When he was a small child, he was in the audience of the circus act where John Murdock (John Grayson + Jon Murdock) was killed. He then saw Dick Murdock running out of the tent. Later, he heard the news of Iron Bat's new sidekick, Warbird. Looking at the news footage, he noticed that a lot of Warbird's acrobatics looked really familiar to Jon's. He also later found out that this coincided with Bruce Stark and his son adopted son returning to Gotham after months abroad. With this, Rhodey pieced together Iron Bat and Warbird's true identities. He later figured out that Bucky was taking Dick's place as the second Warbird.

After Bucky's death, Rhodey noticed how aggressive Iron Bat was, even more so than usual. He decided that that the Dynamic Duo needed to make a comeback. So after taking a bus to Jump City, Tim visited Dick, who was now Devilwing and asked him to be Warbird again. He refused, but suggested that Rhodey could become Warbird instead. He offered this idea to Iron Bat through a secure line he and Devilwing shared but he flatly refused, but he did ask Devilwing to help him on a case involving the Melted Face (Melter + Two-Face).

Later that night, Rhodey stared at the TV in horror as both Iron Bat and Devilwing were captured by the Melted Face. Knowing they needed his help, he rushed over to the Batcave and, with the help of Alfred Jarvis (Alfred Pennyworth + Edwin Jarvis), put on the Warbird suit and set off to save them, actually beating the Melted Face and saving Gotham's two most prominent heroes. Impressed, Iron Bat agreed to let Tim become Warbird. But first, he was going to make some upgrades to the suit.

Iron Bat wanted to make sure that what happened to Bucky never happened again. So, he installed more weapons and features to the Warbird armor until it became an arsenal with legs. Rhodey put it on and after months of training, officially made his debut as the new Warbird.

Unlike the last two, Rhodey wasn't an orphan. He had two parents who were loving and supportive. As such, Bruce didn't need to treat him like his son, the two of them could just be friends. Bruce gave Rhodey an internship at Stark Enterprises (Stark Industries + Wayne Enterprises) to justify him visiting. Over time, he taught him even more skills like flying a plane or a helicopter.

After years of hero work and spending time together, Rhodey decided it was time for Warbird to step out of the Bat's shadow. The two parted on amicable terms and Warbird finally got to fly solo. He'd later join the Young Avengers League (Young Avengers + Young Justice), saving the world with other teen heroes.

Some people might say that Iron Bat doesn't need anyone, but Iron Bat himself will tell you that simply is untrue. For all his money and gadgets, he's still human and humans can't survive alone. And after the bleakest moment of his entire life, Rhodey managed to do what no one else could and show Iron Bat that no matter what, he's never alone.

Powers & Abilities: After being trained by Iron Bat, Rhodey developed a wide range of skills he could only dream of. His body was brought to its physical peak he became a master in martial arts and acrobatics. He was especially proficient in using a staff.

He's also been taught in aviation, computer hacking, escapology, detective work, stealth, and tactics. He's also become adept at tinkering and building his own gadgets. This ranges from inventing his own flash grenades to modifying the Warbird suit itself.

Speaking of, Iron Bat retrofitted the suit for more offensive power. It still has the basic flight, super-strength, invulnerability, repulsor and uni-beams as the original. But now it comes with more guns than your average Texan. A gatling gun mounted on his right shoulder, a rocket launcher on his left, miniature heat seeking missiles and wrist mounted machine guns. All of these, of course, carry rubber bullets, not lethal but definitely painful.

At least they've started out that way. Rhodey added some upgrades so that they could switch from rubber bullets to real bullets at command.

The suit also has flamethrowers, chainsaws, tasers, and an electromagnetic pulse. It can absorb energy and use it to power its cells and with its Chameleon and Ghost modes, the suit and its wearer becomes invisible and intangible.

And like any good Warbird, he's never seen without his trusty utility belt, containing such things as wingdings, smoke bombs, lockpicks and more.

Appearance: Rhodey has black hair and brown eyes.

The Warbird armor is bulkier than Iron Bat's and has a large red gatling gun mounted on its right shoulder. The helmet includes a grey faceplate with two white glowing slits for eyes. The bottom half of the armor is grey while the top half is red with a glowing yellow circle in the center of its chest. The armor's upper arms are grey as well. These two halves are separated by a yellow utility belt.
