Chapter 16: Rollercoaster

Rick

Rick made his way home with the food in the back to feed the gremlins. They were probably already confused as to where he was, he just prayed they didnt try and leave the garage or call anyone. Its fine, they were probably distracted enough with each other anyways. Rick huffed a little. He began worrying that he left them alone together too long. The longer he let Morty be with that blonde bitch the more attached he would become.

And the less he would probably need Rick.

Of course Rick didn't care about that. NO, if Morty didn't want to go on adventures with him he was strong enough to go himself. Ricks stomach churned, suddenly he didn't really want the meal he got for himself either. He tried as hard as he could not to think about it.

Rick pulled into the driveway and got out with the food, moving swiftly through the house to avoid the other family members. He stopped right before he opened the garage door. He needed to quickly think of a reason he wouldn't have the supplies to fix Morty's wound and why he would be gone for hours. And ALSO why the teens would need to stay in the garage. Shit, he also forgot to grab something to keep them preoccupied. Rick looked around himself for anything. "F*eURGh*uck it." Rick swigged his flask, then grabbed the tv from the living room, unplugging anything plugged in. He could find a place to put it in the garage and maybe hok up some interdimensional cable for the two. Rick scrawled a quick note. 'Upgrading the TV in another dimension, bringing it back tomorrow.' They might be pissed but at least they wouldn't question it. He barged into the garage.

Morty

Sky leaned in, and kissed him.

He couldn't feel the ground. Where was the ground? He didn't care. He was flying! He knew his heart was beating a million miles a minute but it felt like it had crawled up into his lips as he and sky pressed together deeper into the kiss. This was such a new feeling and Morty couldn't get enough. He wrapped his good arm around Sky's waist and she held his face with her good arm.

*BAM* The door sprung open and Rick barged in from inside the house. Morty and Sky jumped away from each other and Morty winced as Sky bit his lip by accident. What the fuck was Rick doing here? Ruining the moment as usual. Although Morty did know why he was here. Rick looked... actually kind of shocked. He looked between the two teens back and forth. Morty thought he could almost see... Anger? Pain? Why was Rick so annoyed by this? If anything it should be Morty annoyed that he interrupted. Morty tried to break the ice, "U-Uhhh-"

"Gross. If you're gonna make out dont do it in my garage." Rick swigged his flask and Morty and Sky were silent. "T-turns out we can't go to Shoneys, I need to go get more medical supp*EurH*lies since we're out of stitches. I brought food and the TV to hold you guys out f-for a coupla hours." Rick tossed the food onto the counter and quickly set up the TV. Morty was suspicious as to what was going on. Why did Rick want to get out of there so fast? And he never would have thought Rick could actually run out of something as simple as stitches. Heck, Morty wouldn't even guess Rick used simple earth stitches. He thought Rick would bring some weird alien contraption up to close the wound instantly. Morty eyed him suspiciously as he finished setting up the tv and attached the crystal to make it inter dimensional. Thank god, normal TV was so boring.

"A-alright uh, don't leave the garage I don't want Beth freaking out that you're injured. Oh and use protection." Rick said sarcastically as he portaled out of the garage. Morty and Sky looked at each other, embarassed. Both of their faces quickly flushed red and Morty turned away. "S-sorry about him. Y-you've probably noticed hes always an asshole." Morty scratched the back of his neck. Why was Rick extra shitty around Sky? If anything he was hoping she could see the better side of him instead of whatever he said to her the day he took Morty's place at school. That reminded him, he didn't actually know.

"I-in fact, w-what DID my grandpa say to you as me? Y-y'know, at school?" Morty asked cautiously. From how she treated him the next day, it must've been bad. Sky seemed hesitant. Morty could instantly see the pain that came with reminding her of that day. "Uh, it doesn't really matter. It wasn't you anyways." Sky let out a dry chuckle as she veered off the topic. Morty knew he was pushing it but he really did want to know what Rick said. It also determines how much Rick will have to make it up to him after this. "I-it does matter! I-I want to know how badly he treated you. A-and if theres any way I can discredit w-what he said, y'know?" Morty hoped this wasn't creating tension. He needed to know what "he" said. "Well, 'you' basically just insulted me pretty harshly." Sky looked away. Morty looked at her hoping she would explain. "U-uh, 'you' said that my friends and I were annoying, and that I was stupid and uncool..." Morty heard the stutter coming back, but he knew that wasn't all Rick said. He knew Rick, and he knew it was much worse than that. "I-I know that isn't everything, Rick is a cold bastard." Morty grabbed Sky's hand to try and comfort her. She looked up at Morty and continued, "'you' said my voice was nails on a chalkboard and that you never wanted to talk to me again. YOU said I looked like a boy, specifically Jennifer Lawrence that never actually got pretty." Sky's gripped Morty's hand and started to squeeze, and she started to get angrier. "on TOP of that, you said that I dont have any boobs and that you STILL think I STUFF MY BRA!" Sky was yelling now, Morty noticed her eyes glistening. He didn't know what he was expecting, but it was actually kind of worse. "Y-you know that wasn't 'me' right? I-I would never, NEVER say t-those things. Especially t-to you Sky." Sky's grip on his hand loosened as she calmed down. Morty however was even more pissed at Rick. Sky would never forget those memories, and although she knew it was Rick, it would be Morty's face she saw saying those words. Even worse was that it was so early on into their friendship.

Morty was gonna have a hard time forgiving Rick for this one.

It seemed at almost the same time the two teens remembered the food, both extremely hungry. "L-lets eat, Im starving." Sky said as she walked over to the food on the counter. It was half warm, and not nearly as good as Shoneys, but Morty was starving too. "I-Ill turn on interdimensional cable!" Morty grabbed the remote. "Interdimensional what now?" Sky said, confused.

Morty realized that he was about to show her one of the coolest things in the multiverse. It could only go up from here.

Hope you enjoyed and please review! Dont worry, I'm thinking the story will pick up soon if you catch my drift.
