Authoress Note: Welcome to Chapter 1 of Welcome to the Freakshow. Thank you to those who left reviews. I know it's been a long time since I posted the first part of this story. I know that I fell behind on this, but I promise I'll try my best to update this more often. But all I ask is please bear with me as I work on this story since I'm trying my best with character development. Without further ado Chapter 1 of Welcome to the Freakshow.

Chapter 1

Merideth sadly walked through the big mouth opening of the freakshow. Her hand gripped tightly onto the only bag that she was allowed to take with her. She nervously looked around seeing that most of the freaks that lived there stopped and stared at her. She looked down afraid knowing that they were probably talking all about her.

A young man came over to her crossing his arms as he looked at her. "We're not looking for new talent." He said as she looked up at him nervously. He could see the fear in her eyes. Something didn't feel quite right for her to be there surrounded by their kind.

Meredith nibbled her lower lip softly. "I'm sorry." She softly apologized to the young man. She hadn't wanted to go into their territory.

The young man blinked, bringing himself closer looking at her mouth.

Meredith's head lowered some knowing where he was staring at her teeth. "I have really nowhere to go…"

His brows furrowed. "Why not?"

"My mother no longer wants me there living in her home looking like this…" She said as she looked up at her long canines showing to him.

He swallowed the lump in his throat. "You… uh…"

Meredith looked down, her eyes watering a little bit. Of course she knew that she wouldn't be welcomed there. After all she was an ordinary girl other than having sharp canine teeth. "I… I can do other things… my mom… she made me become a sword swallower and contortionist…" She said softly, her voice coming out shakily.

"She made you become more like us…"

Meredith nodded her head weakly. "She said I looked like a freak, meaning I should be like a freak all of the way."

He let out a soft scoff. "Come with me." He said softly putting his hand on her back and led her towards the tents.

"You're… you're taking me to Miss Elsa Mars?" She asked softly as she followed the young man.

"Yes, the name is Jimmy."

"Oh… I'm Meredith." She said softly as she walked with him. She was surprised that he was so willingly telling her his name. After all, she didn't know if they would see her as one of them.

Jimmy led her to a large glamorous tent. "Elsa?" He called out as he brought her in.

Elsa looked up from where she sat smoothing out the dress that was on the table before her. She got up to her feet and looked at Jimmy. "What is she doing here? She looks like a normal girl." Elsa said, looking Meredith over with a gaze taking in everything of the young woman. She could tell by her form that she knew how to do things properly. "Open your mouth." Elsa ordered.

Meredith swallowed the lump in her throat as she slowly opened her mouth revealing her teeth.

Elsa let out a soft chuckle. "Fangs."

Meredith quickly looked down, her hands gripped tightly at her sides.

"And you want to join my monsters." Elsa said, eyeing the young woman gaging how she was going to react to what was going on around her.

Meredith looked up at Elsa taking a shaky breath. "I don't have much of a choice, Ms. Mars."

Elsa's brows furrowed as she looked at the young woman.

"Your monsters you have here… they're like a family. An ever growing family becoming better with time." She looked down. "I'm sure that you don't want a fanged girl working in your wonderful troupe of people."

"But you're alone." Elsa pointed out.

"Yes."

"Elsa, her mother left her here not wanting her back." Jimmy said softly.

Elsa looked up at Jimmy with wide brown eyes. She hadn't expected that a young woman would be left behind by her own mother.

"My mother didn't want me." Meredith said softly looking down. "No one wants a fanged freak in their home… to scare off guests… at least that's how my mother saw it." She pursed her lips together.

"Jimmy… find her a place to stay."

"Yes, Elsa." Jimmy said with a nod of his head. He looked towards Meredith. "Follow me."

Meredith slowly followed Jimmy out of the tent. She nibbled at her lower lip as she followed him. She was surprised that Elsa willingly was allowing her to stay with them. Her heart pounded in her chest as she saw people stop and stare at her as she followed Jimmy. "Thank you." She said softly.

Jimmy looked over his shoulder at her. "You're welcome. We have to look after our own." He said, giving her a smile.

Meredith's cheeks colored as she felt her heart flutter a little bit. She wasn't used to someone being nice to her like he was being kind to her. Perhaps she would learn to like it here and perhaps more, perhaps she would even learn to love it.
