Jimmy soon discovered that living in a mental hospital was a very boring experience. There was very little to do, other than pacing the halls. So, Jimmy paced the halls while counting the number of days he had been there.

Jimmy's mom was very concerned about her son who had been diagnosed as having schizophrenia and may have to spend the rest of his life in a mental hospital. She didn't know what to do, so she prayed, asking God for help. God responded by telling her to give Jimmy a copy of the Bible.

"A Bible!", thought Jimmy after his mom gave him a Bible completely out of the blue. "I don't believe in God, so why would I want to read the Bible?" However, Jimmy was so bored he eventually decided to read it, just to pass the time. He thought that he would start at the beginning, so he opened his Bible to Genesis chapter 1 verse 1.

On the first page of Genesis Jimmy saw a post-it note with his mom's handwriting on it. It said, "Read Job first,". Puzzled, Jimmy turned to the index and found the page number Job started on. He turned to that page and started reading.

After finishing reading Job Jimmy went back to pacing the halls. Usually, he would think about how many days he had been locked up in the mental hospital, but this time he didn't. Jimmy counting the days had been a sign of his impatience, but he wasn't impatient anymore. By some miracle, reading about Job had given Jimmy the patience of Job.

"This is so weird," thought Jimmy. "I wonder what would happen if I read other books in the Bible? My mom attached a second post-it note at the end of Job telling me to read Mark next. Maybe I should, just as an experiment to see what, if anything, will happen."

Jimmy went back to his room and read Mark. He then started to walk the halls, patiently waiting for something to happen.

A short time later, Jimmy had what could only be described as a mystical experience, telling him that God was real. Jimmy, a lifelong atheist, now believed.

The post-it note Jimmy's mom put at the end of Mark told Jimmy to read Luke and Acts next. Jimmy, now very excited about reading the Bible, did so. As before, Jimmy walked the halls after he had finished reading.

Ever since college Jimmy had been looking at pornography. He couldn't access any porn in the hospital, so Jimmy had an intense desire to look at porn that he couldn't satisfy. However, shortly after reading Luke and Acts he saw his desire for porn dissapear.

"I never thought that I could get the monkey of pornography off my back," thought Jimmy. "It's a miracle!". He went back to his room and read Esther, the next book in the Bible that Jimmy's mom had told him to read via post-it note.

In the days following the reading of Esther Jimmy saw his schizophrenia improve to the point where the hospital psychiatrist discharged him. Jimmy went back to his parent's home and started to put his life back together.

"I love you, mom," said Jimmy. "Thank you for giving me that Bible."

"I love you too, Jimmy," replied Jimmy's mom. "I prayed for you and my prayers were answered." Jimmy and his mom then gave each other a hug.
