When I said I wish I can start another Vocaloid fanfic, I didn't expect this. Wait, that intro sounds familiar…

ANYWAYS,

Welcome to my third Vocaloid fanfic. This one… I see this as something really wild. I originally plan this story around January with me just wanting to write a human Luka and android Miku traveling ala Girls Last Tour. But now… uh… It still have the 'traveling ala Girls Last Tour' part but I kind of throw in some Megaman X, a dose of Negitoro, and a pinch of Kokoro on the mix. What dish I managed to create? I still have no clue…

This is planned as a oneshot but with its length, I don't think I can reach my desired ending with just one chapter. Updates maybe slow since I'm usually busy and to write something is the last thing that comes to my mind when I finally have the time. Also, please be warned that I haven't written for a long time and thus, my writing is really rusty. English is not my first language as well so expect grammar errors here and there so… um… I'll stop rambling. On with the story.

The world is a lost cause. She doesn't know where she heard it but she finds herself agreeing to that statement.

She doesn't know how it all started. She doesn't know what happened in the past. However, whatever did happen back then, all she know is that she is seeing all the results. The world is currently on a devastated state. No matter where she goes, all she see were destroyed infrastructure and machines that humans once used on their daily lives. Beside herself, she haven't actually met another human during her travels… sometimes, she even wonder if she is the only human inhabiting earth.

Her name is Megurine Luka… or that's what she believes. She doesn't have any recollection of her past. She doesn't know where she lives, she doesn't know her family - brothers, sisters - she don't even know if she have any. All she know is she woke up one day alone in the middle of the streets, wearing a military uniform designed for men that was tailored to her size, Kettenkrad near her sleeping form and a aquamarine pendant on her palm with the name "Megurine Luka" engraved on the back. Did she ran from her hometown and somehow hit her head somewhere and lost her memories? She doesn't know.

On her first day of waking up in a completely blank state, she decided to try to search her identity. She wanted to know who she really is. However, the plan was completely shattered to pieces the moment she realized that she's completely alone… literally. There's no one to talk to, no one to ask questions to. Instead she just claimed that she is "Megurine Luka" and continue to explore the city in that Kettenkrad. Soon, the idea of exploring the city turned into something so much more that she found herself fitting to the dictionary definition of a traveler.

Look for food, look for a good place to sleep, keep on going, rise and repeat.

It's how she survive every day. There are times where she finds cursing herself for being so overly curious that lead her to difficult situations… and today is one of those days.

She leaned on her seat, arm resting on her closed eyes as she let out a groan. With the exception of the light from her Kettenkrad illuminates, she is unable to see anything else due of the darkness. However, that light she used to navigate is currently illuminating the "ML" painted in the metallic walls. Of course, she recognizes the handwriting so easily. After all, she was the one who write it using a stick dipped in black paint. It was done to serve as her marker, to tell that she's been here before and, she must say, it did serve its purpose.

"Why the heck did I decide to enter that hole?" she cursed herself before sitting upright once more and continue driving forward.

It happened a few days before. She was just traveling like she usually does, this time in a large city complete with tall buildings but like her usual travels, most of the buildings are destroyed and she encountered no other human. She was thinking of leaving but on her way, she found a hole large enough for her Kettenkrad to fit in one of the weirdly shaped buildings. It was morning that day that she doesn't realize how dark the insides are, and her curious mind really want to know what she can find inside, so without having a second thought, she decided to enter. And now, she's facing the consequences of her decision.

Feeling a little tired, Luka decided to stop her vehicle before once again, leaning on her seat to stare at the ceiling. As she expected, she saw darkness and some pipes that the headlights of the Kettenkrad managed to illuminate. She let out a sigh, and jumped out from the driver seat to move on the back. She pushed all of her things to the other side - backpack, those two metal containers containing water and fuel and that box of rations - making a space for herself to lie down. She remember to rest the small flashlight somewhere near her before turning off the engine and tucking under the blanket.

She'll think on how to leave this place tomorrow. Right now, she just wanted to sleep.

Gunshots.

She could hear gunshots ringing on her ears. A rather old man walk closer to her holding two pieces of military jacket on his hands. He kneel in the front of her and help her put on one of the jackets then doing the same to the young man sitting beside her. She stared at the young man, trying to examine him. Basing on his build, the two of them are in the same age, if not, close. But what bothers Luka is that no matter how long she stare at him, she's unable to memorize his features. Every time she blinks, she forget how he look - his face, the color of his hair - and that also applies to the old man.

The old man began speaking to her but no matter how much she tries to listen, she cannot hear his words at all. He later grabbed one of her hand and place a single key held by a tuna keychain atop her palm. The young man beside her said something to the old man but his voice never reached her ears.

Another sound of gunshot followed by a explosion, this time it sounds closer to their direction. The old man shouts at the two of them with Luka unable to understand his words. The next thing she knew is that she is being dragged by the young man by her arm as they run away from the scene. She don't know what's happening but when she turn around to look at the silhouette of old man, she heard another gunshot.

"NOOO!" Luka screamed as loud as she can as she quickly sat up from her makeshift bed. Even though it's extremely cold due to the near winter season, she's sweating buckets under the jacket she wore. Her hand were extended in the front of her as if she's trying to grab something from the thin air while breathing deeply, each exhale forming a mist in the front of her face.

It took her a whole minute to calm herself down and when she did, the first thing she did is to lower her arm and hug her knees.

"What… was that…?" she asked but expected no answer.

She doesn't even know those people nor what exactly happened in her dream and yet she felt so… emotional. Was it a part of the memories she lost? Those two men… are they important to her? There's so many questions lingering inside her head right now that she doesn't know where to find answers and before she know it, she felt water trailing on her cheeks to her chin. "Why am I even crying?"

Using the back end of her gloved hand, Luka wiped her tears before taking another deep breath to calm herself down. It's just a dream, she remind herself. She can worry about that later. Right now, she have to prioritize how she can leave this place.

She grab the flashlight resting beside her and turned it on before carefully putting her things back to where it previously was. She began by neatly folding her blanket then tucking it under her backpack. The previous space she used to sleep in were now occupied by that box of rations. Satisfied by her work, she decided to go back on the driver's seat and get this over with but before she could even take her seat, she quickly noticed something.

The key is missing.

'But I didn't take it out before I sleep!'

She began to panic as she point her flashlight to the ground, thinking that it fell from the keyhole while she's asleep ('Not that's its even possible!'). she looked under her Kettenkrad, then switch to the back, quickly yet carefully placing all her items down. Alas, despite her efforts, the key cannot be found.

"Where is it!?" she voiced her thoughts, irritation traced over her husky voice.

As if it heard her distress, a beeping sound averts her attention. Pointing her flashlight on the direction of the sound, Luka saw a small machine in a shape of a box. Its height only reached below her knees and she noticed something resembling to a arm attached to both of its side. It's a one bizarre looking machine, that's for sure but there is something that distract Luka's attention from its appearance. The small metal key tied in a tuna shaped keychain hanging on one of its arms.

"Hey! That's mine!" she shouts and quickly ran in the direction of the machine. Seeing this, the machine rolled its wheels under its body to run away from the pink haired woman. And thus, the game of cat and mouse began.

When she saw the weird looking machine travel using wheels, Luka thought that I can't climb down to any stair case. So when it did, and in a rather fast pace too, it really took her by surprise. The machine move too fast, turning into multiple direction that Luka never thought it existed inside the building. What's weird is when it didn't see Luka, it will stop as if waiting for her then running off when her silhouette entered its field of vision.

Finally, the machine stopped inside a dimly lighted room. Seeing it as her opportunity, Luka grabbed the machine with both of her hands then took her keys. Taking a deep breath, she prepared herself to leave and return to her Kettenkrad but when her eyes made contact with the contents of the room, all her thoughts about leaving suddenly disappeared.

Inside the room is a capsule large enough to fit a human inside. What's inside the capsule still remains unknown for the thick layer of dust and dirt covers the glass panel. Numerous wires and pipes of different shape were attached on the top of the capsule while it's other end were connected on multiple machines that let out a silent hum as they operate.

"What is this place…?" she asked in awe as she walk further inside the room, making sure she doesn't trip on any wires. The machine she hold in her hands made a silent yet noticeable beeping sounds, diverting her attention to the capsule that is now in the front of her.

"Did you bring me here on purpose?" she asked but this time, she got no respond - even in a form of another beep from the weird machine.

Out of nowhere, the sound of static filled the room, making her drop the machine in complete surprise. She was about to check if the weird machine still works but the sudden light coming out from the old looking monitor behind caught her attention. Flashlight pointed on the direction of the old looking computer, she began carefully walk closer towards it.

"Greetings…" a mature voice of a woman replaced the sounds of statics. Luka stared at the monitor as the device showed a monochrome video of a middle aged woman in white coat. She looks like she's recording the video in a dark room with the only source of light coming from the front of her. Based on the black and white lines that appeared every now and then, Luka had a feeling that this video was recorded a long time ago. "…My name is Masuda Lily… and I'm the one who designed and built CV01."

"CV…01?"

"I don't know who will be able to find this report nor how long it will take before someone discover this laboratory but, as for the recording of this report, humanity is in a war with robots infected by a virus we call Sigma Virus. This virus made them act violently, killing any and every human that it sees. We call this type of robots as Burst. We… don't have any ways of fighting Burst for we built them to be stronger than us to do things we are not able to. We didn't think something so crazy like this will happen… So I teamed up with Crypton in order to create CV01." Lily explains, stress visible on her expressions as she ran a hand on her long white locks of hair… well, white from what Luka can see on the monochrome image of her.

"CV01 is made using the latest technology our era has to offer. We made sure she'll be immune to the Sigma Virus and we equipped her with all the things she'll need to fight. But I made one terrible mistake… I didn't give her the ability to think… to feel emotions… and thus, during her testing phase, she acted nothing more than a total killing machine. She falls in the category of a Burst without needing the Sigma Virus itself… and she was marked as a failure by Crypton… Unable to accept this reality, I shut her down and hid her in this room. I spent more time under Crypton as we retry to create another CV... And we succeed with CV02 and CV03. However, unknown to them, I used the Kokoro Program that made the other CV so successful to update CV01's system." hearing this, Luka stared at the capsule once again. She left the monitor for a while as she walk closer to the capsule to brush her hand on the glass surface. Once the dust covering it was lifted, she was greeted by the sight of a sleeping girl with teal hair tied in twin tails. Wires in multiple colors attached on the metal plating on her ear and probably more were connected on her back.

"A machine whose created to fight their own kind for humans to survive… I never thought I'll make something like that, let alone, three of them…" Lily continued but Luka cannot remove her eyes on the sleeping figure on the other side of the glass. This is the first time she saw another human - or creature resembling a human - ever since she woke up in that blank state. "Whoever you are watching this… first, I wanted to say thank you for finding this place. This computer is programmed to open CV01's capsule after this report reached its end."

"Wait, what?" Luka asked in surprise as she looked back at the monitor again.

"Second, I wanted you to take care of her. I… I'm not sure if I'll still be around after she finishes her update… So I ask you to look after her for me. As she is a highly advanced android, I can only hope you're not going to use her in the wrong way. Lastly, this is more of a reminder but…" she paused. "Both CV02 and CV03 are aware of CV01's existence and condition. I gave them the command to look for CV01 when she's completely operational again so there are chances that you'll bump on those two. Once more, I wanted to thank you. I wish for your safety and please… take care of my most precious creation." And the report ended with the same static sounds. However, Lily's reminders nor the fact that the video already ended have yet to process inside Luka's head. Instead, her focus were all in that one sentence that the woman in the monitor said.

The computer is programmed to open the capsule after the report…

And she did state that CV01 once acted as a total killing machine.

"Wait! Don't- AH!" She tried to reach for the computer, wanting to at least know if there is a way to prevent it. However, she completely forgot the existence of the multiple wires scattered on the floor until she trips in one of them.

It took her half a minute to pull herself together. Hand on her throbbing head, she let out a low groan she tries her best to sit up. When she finally decided to open her eyes, she stared at the opened capsule and the naked teal haired girl rising from it, all the wires attached on her body slowly detach on their own as she moves. At first glance, the girl did look very similar to a normal teenage female human. But the more she stare at her, the more she notice the thin lines on her body located in every single one of her joints. Her eyes also let out a faint teal glow as well as the metallic thing on her ear that's highly noticeable especially on this dimly lighted room and… what's that glowing weird thing on her left thigh?

The teal haired girl, for some odd reason, still fails to notice her presence. Her eyes dart on her right and there, she noticed the same machine Luka accidentally dropped a while ago. To be honest, even Luka forgot about that. The android grabbed the machine on her hands… then she tilts it slightly to the left… then look at its bottom.

"You're broken." She said in a rather high pitched voice that lacks emotion. Seeing no other use to the machine, she threw it on her left, leaving a cringing sound of metal hitting metal as it hit the wall. Seeing that there's nothing interesting on her left, she decided to shift to her right and that where she met a pair of ocean blue eyes.

Due to how dim the light is in the room, and the fact that the flashlight Luka dropped on the floor when she fell pointed towards the other direction, the teal haired android took a lot of time identifying the woman. On Luka's part, she just stared at the android in the front of her, afraid to make any sudden movement. She just sit there, sweat forming on her cheeks despite the cold weather, as she stare at the teal eyes in the front of her. After a complete minute of staring, the android opened her mouth and the words that come out from it is something Luka never thought she would hear.

"Master?" she asked in that same voice but this time, she could sense some kind of emotion towards it.

"Huh…?"

"Master!" the teal haired android said again, happily this time, as she ran towards Luka, expertly avoiding any wires along her way. The next thing Luka knew is that this android that Lily described as a 'Total killing machine' is hugging her like no tomorrow, complete with her cheeks rubbing on her own. Surprisingly, for someone who is made from metal, she's really warm.

"W-wait…! Can't… breathe…!"

"Ah!" and she immediately withdraw.

When she's free from the prison that is the girl's arms, the first thing Luka did is to reach the inside of her jacket and tug the collar of the shirt she wore underneath as she took deep breaths.

"I'm so sorry, Master! I didn't mean to hurt you!" the android said in a rather apologetic tone as she reaches for the zipper of Luka's jacket. She slightly pulled them down, just above her cleavage, then reached out to remove the first button of her shirt-

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!?" Luka immediately shout and push the other girl when her brain finally registered her actions.

"I'm sorry, Master but you seems to have trouble breathing and I thought removing few buttons of your shirt can help you breathe better but…" she paused for a moment, fidgeting with her fingers before closing her eyes. "I'm terribly sorry for causing you more disturbance, Master!" If this android can blush, her face must have been the same as the color of her hair. Luka thought.

"No, I'm sorry. It's just…" she took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. "I have a totally different image about you and… please don't do that sort of thing without any warning."

"Was it because of what Master Lily said?" the android stated, voice returning to its emotionless tone.

"Huh?"

"The reason why you have a different image about me. Was it because of what she said? What did she say about me?"

Luka took a gulp and began to slowly inch away from her. It feels like the girl that hugged her few minutes ago and the girl that's currently asking her questions are not the same girl at all. She took another deep breath. She must provide some sort of answer. This girl… is a machine right? She can't feel emotions right? But her very little interaction she got from her not even 15 minutes ago told her otherwise.

"She… describes you as some sort of… Killing machine…"

"But I just followed her orders!" the teal haired girl said, spreading her arms as wide as she can. "She asked me to destroy everything in that room. So I did!"

Luka didn't manage to reply to that. She just stared at her teal eyes then moved her gaze to the teal thing on her thigh.

"You don't believe me, right?" that made her panic.

"N-No! It's just… I don't know… I was never there when it happened and I never really know you…or Lily."

"Oh? You didn't know Master Lily?"

"W-well, I know she created you but… I didn't really know her. I just saw her on the monitor and…"

"Master, what's the current date today?" the android asked, completely changing the topic.

"I don't know…" Luka answered, head dropping in shame as she is hit by the reality that she cannot answer such basic question.

"I see. Are Burst still around?"

"I haven't encountered one ever since I first woke up…" Luka closed her eyes. "I'm sorry."

"Oh! No, don't be! We'll just find it together!" she said with a sweet smile on her face. "You might already know about this but I'm CV01. First unit of the CV Series created in the year 2078 by Master Masuda Lily. May I ask what Master's name is?"

"L-Luka. M-Megurine Luka." She said looking at the still smiling face of CV01. She wondered if the android managed to notice how unsure she sounds when she said her own name.

This is supposed to end when Luka get a front view seat on how CV01 act on her 'fighting mode' lets just say, but I'm kind of affraid that people might not pick this up because of the word count it will have (and how crappy this thing is written)
